February Test Drive Meme

Multiversal travel can be disorienting, but there’s no need to worry! All side effects are temporary and lessen with each trip. Your body may experience several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You may have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer dizziness while others are perfectly fine. You notice that the area you are in is filled with a soft cerulean light and feels slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you. Regardless of your current state, however, the stress of transit forces your body into unconsciousness.

Waking up is another story. Or maybe it isn’t.

You find yourself in a nondescript room; sometimes with others who have found themselves in the same situation, sometimes alone. Welcome to Avagi Station, your new home.

New arrivals are, of course, welcome to explore the various locations around the station. Additionally everyone is provided with a communicator in case they want to pose any questions to the population already residing on Avagi.

Moon 900CA1

Like every city has a junkyard, this universe is littered with (mostly) uninhabited planets or moons that are being used for the same purpose. Welcome to one of the many universal "dump sites" of the galaxy. Moon 900CA1 is one of many, a celestial body belonging to the planet of Ploria, and as this area of the universe is technologically advanced in comparison to others, so is a majority of the junk left here. There is a haze encompassing this moon and breathing masks are needed for anyone who decides to visit the surface. Every inch of ground is covered in debris, various spacecrafts, and machines. Some of it is piled higher than one can see over if standing at the bottom.

spare parts:
What’s even better than having to trade precious goods or services for the equipment that the station so desperately needs? Getting them for free. Well, free with the added ingredient of elbow-grease. Stocking up spare parts is a must when traveling the universe. This planet is brimming with discarded ships, machines, vehicles, and all manners of "outdated" technology. You’ve been given a list of things to keep an eye out for while you’re out shopping but feel free to pick up something for yourself. After all, one species’ trash might be your coolest thing ever.

build-a-thing:
While it’s clear that most of the visitors here are scavenging or looting, there are a very small number of booths scattered throughout where vendors have set up shop. Is there something you need or want? New jet-propulsion space shoes? A small flying craft? A robot? These vendors will use scrap parts that you’ve found and brought to them, for a small fee of course, to build it for you. Be sure to bring the best parts that you can because you’ll only get the highest quality that you’ve provided.

trash junkies::
Such large stacks of trash are bound to shift and move over time, it’s simply a natural part of this moon’s gravity fluctuations, but why is it that the movements are perfectly in sync with every step you take? You move, the debris moves. You stop, the junk stills. If you choose to investigate, or get too close too quickly, you’ll discover that you aren’t alone in your scavenging. Creatures, varying anywhere between a foot to over ten feet tall, dive and sort through the debris. They are diligent in their searches and shy away from organic contact of any kind. If you have anything that they deem of value in your hands, they’ll wait until your back is turned and then try to take it from you. On the plus side, they don't seem too dangerous?

moon tomb:
Those who choose not to wear a breathing mask will notice a horrible and overwhelming scent wafting gently on the wind. It’s a scent that is familiar, but you can’t quite place it. At first. The ACE devices coordinate with your respiratory functions, and a small notice will flash across the screen: High concentration of decomposing organic material. Some will know what this means and head back to the portals immediately. Those who don’t, or are too curious, will follow their ACEs to areas with much higher concentration levels and stumble across an equally common occurrence on these kind of disposal planets: bodies, of varying species, discarded for one reason or another. There are thousands of them spread out among the refuse, and the further you explore, the longer your ACE warns of exposure to elements of disease. Now might be the time to turn back...

OUT OF CHARACTER INFO

Note: While TDM threads can generally be counted as game canon, upcoming plot and scenarios may limit the settings or circumstances under which the interactions take place. Players are, of course, welcome to fudge details in order to keep these interactions as part of their in game CR.

[Raven never became the killer that Erik had groomed her to be all those years ago, had never took that fateful leap that would have changed everything. Everything between them, the course of the future. It's strange to think on, how pivotal one act would have been. It hurt her head to think about for long. But she can't fault Erik this. His revenge. As much as she couldn't pull the trigger, she acutely understands the desire. And very few people would hold up arms over Nazi's being murdered in cold blood, would they?]

Yes, I can imagine that might make you uncomfortable. But you're so old, Erik. And 'wise', how could they not come to you? [Raven winks at him, her laugh a husky thing, more like a bark. She doesn't ask about Clara when the name comes up. There's been many names thrown about, she'll have to work out who all of them are eventually but not at this very moment. She's no reason to think Clara is anything but a teacher.]

[ He winces. ]

Just because it's true doesn't mean you have to say it. We aren't all so blessed as you, my dear.

[ Acting on impulse, he lifts her hand to his lips and kisses her knuckles before letting go. ]

If they come to me it's because they have no other choice. It's been difficult. Particularly with Rogue. Apparently I--[ He stops as he remembers some more of what Rogue said ] we attacked her. In 2001 or so. I think it may have been from the other timeline.

[She's still not entirely sure how she feels about seeing everyone around her age while she stays the same apparent age. Lucky, perhaps, but it's yet another thing that makes her feel distant and separated from everyone else, both human and mutant. She smiles though, enigmatic, and not betraying those thoughts as he kisses her knuckles.]

[He can be so sweet, but just as the story he's telling her now, cruel. With her help, it seems.]
I met her. When I arrived... I thought there was something odd about her, an unspoken hostility.

[ She smiles when he kisses her hand. There's something more than just fondness or amusement in her eyes. That part of her that's always hidden from him, always out of reach. Why was it so enticing to him? Enough to make him stray from Charles. From the one person who knew him more intimately than anybody. The one person even now that he was closer to than anybody else. And yet Raven, with her piercing gaze and mysterious smiles and parts of herself that she will forever keep from him, understood him better than Charles ever could.

Charles saw him for who he could be. Raven saw him for who he really was. ]

Yes. [ He draws the word out, some of his weariness over the situation creeping into his tone. ] I've been going by "Erik" with the other mutants. The humans call me Magneto. She only knew me as an old man. It took her some time to put the pieces together and when she did she was... upset.

[ More like heartbroken. The hatred and shame in her eyes was unlike anything he had ever seen. The raw emotions of youth. ]

Did she tell you what you, I mean, we did? [Raven is afraid to even know, but finds she needs too. She needs to know the person she might have been, save one single decision made ten years ago now.]

Not in detail. I wasn't exactly asking for specifics.

[ He feels very weary. The thought of what she said still makes him sick. But he will tell Raven what he knows, even if he can't quite meet her eye. ]

She said that I touched her, forced my memories on her. And then something else where she died. Logan was able to save her. It's just... difficult to imagine why I would have done this to an adolescent. Why you would have helped me.

[Honestly, Raven doesn't think it's so much of a stretch. There's a momentary hardening in her eyes. Maybe she couldn't see herself helping him do such a thing now, but perhaps... if things had been different. And Erik? Well, as Magneto he'd been perfectly willing to kill Raven. At that point was a child so much of a stretch? Perhaps by that time it hardly seemed important.] I can't speak to a future self's motivations. A self that I'll never be.
magneticfields: (half light sad)

[ He had tried to kill Raven in the belief it would save all of them, including Raven herself, from a much worse fate. He failed, obviously. Though it would appear that fate was prevented through other means. If what they did worked. He rubs his forehead, feeling the familiar pinging of the headache he always gets when he thinks about time travel too much. ]

The fact of the matter is even if what we did to her never happens, we still have that potential within us. And I don't know how to tell that we won't. What happened to her is twenty years in our future.

It's not something I'm going to apologize for. But it is something I'll keep in mind. I don't want to be someone who'd do that to a teenager. Or anyone. [Rogue could hate her for something she hadn't done. She's not trying to make everyone her friend and she doesn't feel the need to prove herself.]
magneticfields: (alright)

[personal profile] magneticfields 2018-03-03 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes such things are necessary. Not with somebody so young, though.

[ Shaw was a monster. A madman. He had no cause but his own power, no limits to what he would do to acquire more. The result of a life unchecked by personal consequences for any of his actions.

What child could be that bad? ]

I didn't apologize to her when she confronted me. Whatever happened to her, it's not something I did. But I didn't try to tell her that it didn't happen. I can't deny her that truth.

[She supposes it's nice to know Erik has some lines he's not willing to cross for the sake of the cause. Still- Raven shakes her head, finding a powerful desire to move on past this topic, Not wanting to think on their own shared past, the bullet as it sank in her thigh...]

What about the others here? The non-mutants. What do you think of them? [She's always find it hard to trust anyone not like them. Raven keeps everyone at a distance, but non-mutants she avoided nearly entirely aside from when necessary.]
magneticfields: (tired)

[personal profile] magneticfields 2018-03-04 08:19 am (UTC)(link)
[ Erik doesn't argue with her change of topic, though it does take him a moment to answer. ]

They're... interesting. I find the aliens and the robots more tolerable than the humans. In general. Most of the humans come from worlds with no mutants. [ He lifts his hand to indicate he's not done talking, lest she leap to conclusions. ] As in, there never were any. Not that they were all wiped out. Their reaction to us has been largely... tolerant.

[personal profile] personify 2018-03-04 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
[She starts to tense when he talks of worlds with no mutants so is glad when he quickly explains. Raven may still have some doubts. Perhaps they were wiped out and these people just didn't know? Or they were lying? Why yes, she isn't very good with trust.]

I suppose tolerant is better than we're used to. [It's better than having them try to kill them or experiment on them.] How do you think they will handle me in my true form? There are aliens here, so perhaps they wouldn't give me a second look.
