Whether adjusting to space travel has been difficult or not, there is always something to be done. From working to leisure, the Moira offers a multitude of opportunities to get to know your crewmates a bit better. Exploration of the ship is highly encouraged, but as another planet grows closer to being docked, things start to get a little hectic. You'll notice a slight change in the artificial gravity as the Moira is pulled into the planet's gravitational field; however, more noticeable changes can be found in the overall morale as you prepare to descend.
☄ on the aft:
Offering an unobstructed view, it's quite easy to see stars that are still light years away. Like your own personal observatory, things are relatively quiet since other members are busy. While visiting, your steps may feel lighter as the ship's gravity is affected most here, but don't worry! The barrier surrounding the aft will keep you from floating away. Take note: if you happen to find yourself alone, no matter how brief, you may hear a distant echo — like a voice calling to you. For the most part, it's harmless. However, those curious enough to attempt to heed those words may find themselves suddenly jettisoned into space through a momentary lapse in the Moira's safety systems.
Hopefully you're wearing your thermals! The MID relay will alert the ship of this emergency, but who knows how long it will take for someone to retrieve you.

☄ in the mess hall:
It's breakfast time! On the buffet lining the back wall, you'll find an assortment of hurriedly prepared foods, but it's not the rations you've been accustomed to since the last port. There are stacks of green pancakes that taste like stale yet metallic bread. Are those eggs? Yes. Do they taste good? Probably not. Since supplies are scarce, there isn't much else to eat. The water might seem a bit brown, but is that really water you're drinking? After a while, depending on how much you've drank, you start to feel lightheaded... That's some strong space liquor right there.
☄ on your own:
There are plenty of other communal areas on the ship to explore! Pick a place, and see where it takes you.

From the outside, Hyacintho appears to be devoid of natives. Its landscape is sparse of vegetation with many slow-flowing streams tinted a murky blue. Craggy rock formations jut up randomly from the ground, hinting at abrupt development and are razor-sharp to the touch. Upon further exploration, dome-like structures can be found and appear to be abandoned settlements. Some are smaller and clustered close to the ground while others are elevated and connected by swinging bridges. Watching your MID here is critical; it monitors atmospheric composition with steady beeps that signal hazardous conditions. Staying on Hyacintho's surface for extended periods of time is ill-advised.
☄ the dormant volcanoes:
Scoping Hyacintho's peculiar topography leads to the discovery of inactive volcanoes and lava tubes. Some are easily accessible while others take more effort to reach—it's a steep climb to the vent. The ground shifts under your feet and can make walking difficult. Yet, the closer you come to a particular one, you may notice subtle changes in temperature and the air smelling faintly of sulfur. Perhaps this planet isn't as latent as you first thought.
Around midday, vibrations are unexpectedly felt and whatever light from Hyacintho's suns is blotted out by ashy clouds the same color as the ground. Small pockets of blue lava seep from those sharp rock formations, and that light sulfuric smell has now become increasingly overwhelming. Time to make a quick escape back to the Moira!

☄ the delirium:
When something terrible happens, sometimes it leaves a trace, a wound that acts as a knot between two timelines. It's like an echo repeated over and over, waiting to be heard... Like a scar or a pinch that begs for a caress to relieve it. An itch under your skin or a memory fading before your eyes.
The faint sound of your MID has grown unreasonably loud. In the back of your mind, you know what it means, but you're too lethargic to attend to its warning. Where once you believed Hyacintho to be absent of life, it is now overrun. Falling back to the safety of the ship is now much too difficult to do quickly. Your limbs are heavy, the natives' faces blurry and unrecognizable as if they're a great distance away, but you swear you can feel them breathing on your neck, dragging their hands down your arms and back. You struggle, falling over yourself and are swayed by the delusions you are rapidly succumbing to. Yet, somehow, the Moira is just ahead. Within reach. Are you at the door now? Are your friends with you to drag you inside? Are they even calling to you?
You ask yourself why you're breathing so heavily.
You aren't.

Pancakes? Pancakes? Do I look like someone who eats pancakes?!
[ When you're a giant, sharp-toothed cat creature, no, you really don't.
She'd think the answer would be obvious, but, no, instead she's huffing and puffing and looming over the buffet lacking a more balanced selection. That is to say... meat. She's left looking disgusted at what is there to choose from and, frankly, about five seconds from either trashing the entire buffet or going over it and after whoever or whatever might be producing the food in the first place. ]
hyacintho. volcanoes.
[ Face wrapped in what cloth she could scavenge off the ship (in lieu of a decent rebreather, much to her own personal grumbling), Rinth is picking her way around the pockets of blue lava. Where she got a sturdy pole from, along with that cloth? Who knows. She's charr, she's an engineer, she's good at finding and repurposing. Regardless, she's tip-toeing around the lava and using the pole to turn over rocks. She'll stop, tilt her head and narrow her eyes, then move on and repeat the same actions, over and over.
She's looking for something, but what?
Inevitably, anyone who sticks around long enough to watch will see her pull the cloth down and mutter: ]
...maybe where the flow already cooled? Hrrm.
Mess
No, you strike me more as a Fancy Feast kinda gal. But hey, I don't blame you for passing up Dr. Seuss' pancakes. I don't think even I'm daring enough to try that gamma green mess.
[He sets his plate aside and hops off his chair(s), standing next to the Charr engineer.]
no subject
Half of what you said made no sense. [ But she'll sneer anyway. ] But daring doesn't even enter the equation for you humans. Whatever makes it green would probably kill you, just like most things do.
no subject
Whoa there, pretty kitty! I'm sensing some strong human hate going on there. At least get to know me before you start hating on me. And I'm pretty sure I can eat anything you can eat, for the record.
[He didn't have food battles with the Hulk for nothing. Clint crossed his arms, his competitive nature always got the better of him.]
And I'll prove it. If you can stomach a bite of those horrible green things, I'll match you bite for bite.
no subject
[ She wrinkles her nose, ears twitching backwards. That much indicates her general distaste that the conversation is even continuing, but then he has to go and challenge her. Now she can't back down. Especially not to a human.
She accepts the challenge by reaching into the ominous pit of green pancakedom and drags one out, squishing it up into one big ball of green bread as she does. It all goes into her maw at once.
A few chews and a swallow, she does manage to get it down, though her look of distate remains. Just. This time it's meant for something completely unrelated to Hawkeye. ]
...hgh. That's one. Your turn.
Hyancintho
After a moment, she moves closer, keeping a polite distance before calling out;]
Do you need any help?
no subject
She could have kept on searching and ignored her, maybe it would have been attributed to the wind, but too late for that. ]
No. [ Rinth calls back, eventually settling on answering. ] Not unless you've noticed any obsidian deposits around.
no subject
Obsidian? That's interesting thing to be looking for, all things considered. What do you need it for?
[She gives a cursory glance to her new (presumably) crewmate, before looking around on the ground. To be honest, geology wasn't her strongest point, but it wasn't something she was altogether unfamiliar with either, and she was determined to at least try and help if it seemed important.]
no subject
[ Which... isn't a lie, but! Well, it's not like she plans on keeping it a secret, what she plans for the potential obsidian. Assuming they ever find any. Rinth sets one end of the pole down against the ground and takes a break from her search, instead leaning against it now that it's braced like that. ]
That and it's useful. If the stuff here is the right kind, it won't set off most detectors. You know, pure, not a high iron mix. Of course, I don't know what's in the lava here. Could be a dead end.
charr are lovely, lovely things. have some more fur to add to the fun
This one happens to be wearing clothes and have what looks like a collapsible rifle strapped to his back, though.]
And here I was afraid there wouldn't be any good perches around here.
[He grins at her, clinging to the top of her makeshift staff, perhaps daring her to try and shake him off.]
no subject
Something small, furry, and snarky running up the pole elicits the initial and instinctual urge to grab after it. She doesn't, though. She's not some silly cat! Instead, a growl rumbles out of Rinth and, instead of trying to shake him off, she brings the pole down, fast, and towards one of the open lava vents.
Careful, Rocket. Looks like she means to roast you! ]
Off!
no subject
[He scampers up the staff as soon as she starts to swing it, aiming to launch off her grip on it and into the top of her head.
What can he say? He likes tall people with lots of outcroppings to cling to. It's not quite as good as Groot, but those horns and extra ears are pretty useful to grab a hold of....]
no subject
[ And now it's on her head. This is even worse. Rinth stabs the pole into the ground, strong enough to drive it through what is -- or was -- a fairly tough but thin layer of cooled lava. What both of them fail to realize, of course, is the lava flow is still active under their feet, so... ]
I. SAID. OFF.
[ While Rinth is trying to grab Rocket, which she is, blue lava begins spurting up around the hole that metal rod just made and cracks creeping out through the stone underfoot. ]
no subject
[He tries to avoid those grabbing hands, squirreling around her horns and shoulders, but it's pretty close quarters and those are pretty big hands. She finally nabs a hind paw, and he yelps-- not noticing the lava problem just yet. He's too busy trying to hold on tight to one horn so she can't just yank him off and toss him away like so much garbage. Or crush him. That's possible, too.]
no subject
She looks down just in time to see the blue glow of certain death seeping up through the cracks in what had been assumed a cooled lava flow. Not so much, it would seem. ]
Oh f--
[ Rocket will find his hind paw free again because she's suddenly throwing herself off of the crumbling rock as it collapses. ]
no subject
What's got under your tail, you big-- gyah!
[He just saw the lava, looking back behind her, and he's suddenly even more glad she didn't manage to throw him off. Even worse, the cracks are spreading.]
Keep runnin', cat! It's breaking even more behind you!
no subject
[ Rinth isn't even going to bother trying to dislodge him now. Escaping the crumbling ground and the hot blue lava is suddenly a whole lot higher on the list of important things, especially versus some damn chatty raccoon on her head. Luckily for both of them, she's pretty fast when she needs to be.
When she threw herself out of immediate danger, it was to roll and come back up on all fours. She goes right into a lope from there, claws out to snag purchase on the steadier rock ahead of them.
Of course, lava is deceptively fast, so she's barely keeping two jumps ahead of it now. ]
Why don't you be useful and look for steadier ground?! I'm busy here!
you make me want to play one of my charr, man XD
Go left, up the hillside!
[He even points helpfully, tugging just a little on one ear in that direction if she can't actually see his hand.]
Less cracks there, and there's some bigger rocks you could jump on!
the world can never have enough charr, lbr
Got it!
[ That's the only confirmation Rocket gets before she goes out on a limb here and trusts him. It's his hide on the line, too, so she way as well. Rinth makes a hard left, running a few more paces before skidding to a halt as the ground falls apart into blue around them, but only to gather herself up for one giant leap that takes them over the last few yards to safety. She lands heavily against solid rock. It doesn't give, so it's there she takes a break to catch her breath. ]
no subject
You're pretty good. I'll give ya that. Got a name?
volcanos
But Rinth's comment seems to indicate she has a similar goal. ]
If you did find anything worth taking it would have to be cooled anyway.
