Waking up is another story. Or maybe it isn’t.
You find yourself in a nondescript room; sometimes with others who have found themselves in the same situation, sometimes alone. A medical tech is always present to explain what’s happened before giving you some clothes, a TAB, and a guide that discusses things in further detail. This entire process also consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health in order to obtain your signature—a specific frequency that will allow them to hone in on exactly where it is you’re from in order to get you back there. You spend your first week on the Ingress Complex while other accommodations and arrangements are made for you.

the chitow ( cw: drugs )
⋆ Initiation Ceremony - Colorful full body paint, usually on the naked form but the Chitow won’t press the issue if you’re not comfortable, is applied liberally. Hand crafted necklaces and bracelets are offered, and each person is given a fruity drink that results in glowing eyes and lips (duration is roughly two days).
⋆ Burial Ceremony - The Chitow take an item, something personal with a connection that is negative, and bury the item in the rich, warm dirt of Chioni. After each visitor digs a small trench, they place the item and their feet inside, covering it over. This practice is a way of letting go of the past - each person removes their feet, leaving the item behind when they are ready.
⋆ Smoking Ceremony - Fires are built as the Ingress energy dims, illuminating the village. The Chitow toss bundles of purple leaves into the flames, they crackle and spark, a citrusy scent filling the air. Some who inhale will experience an increased sense of calm, mild hallucinations, visions, and others will feel nothing.
⋆ The rest of the night is filled with dancing, drink, food, and music created from the wooden instruments the Chitow have carved.
thiri
⋆ Through the rubble and ruin of Thiri, precious gemstones can be found in multiple areas, especially in condemned buildings that (oddly) resemble temples. Whatever carvings and stone structures that are happened upon bear an untranslatable language, some of it eaten away by time and others washed smooth by rain. If taken from their resting place, particular colors eventually cause a disruption in personality. Red gemstones cause the holder to point out the most prominent structure in the sky and tell everyone about it. Blue gemstones cause the holder to end every sentence an interrogative inflection. Green gemstones cause the holder to only speak in movie quotes regardless of the whether or not they know what a movie is. Purple gemstones cause the holder to only be able to hear out of one ear OR see out of one eye. Pink gemstones cause the holder to snort whenever someone says their name. Clear gemstones cause the holder to address every inanimate object as if it were a person. All changes will eventually fade after several days; yet, if the stones are returned to their original resting place, the changes disappear immediately.

someone's gotta take the actual prompt right
She immediately spots Blue though, because she's dressed the most like herself; Archer's jeans and shirt might not be an apparent mishmash of clothes but they have the undeniable wear and tear of something that's been used for a while, and her hair, long and curly, is just as much a mess as the girl's short spiky hairdo. She actually stops to envy her hair for a moment before drawing closer, careful not to be creepy (but failing to do so as she's silently making her way towards Blue anyway). ]
Oh that- you don't want to do that. [ She manages to peek Blue's TAB and reacts without thinking, extending a hand to hold Blue's, but she draws back before actually doing so. ] Unless you're trying to send a complex-wide SOS, I guess.
you are the chosen one lol
Wasn't there some kind of instruction manual that she could refer to?
She nearly drops the TAB at the sound of Archer's voice -- people had been carrying on conversations around her, but it was a lot more startling to have someone suddenly speaking to her rather than simply near her. ]
Not exactly what I'm aiming for, no.
[ Blue picks her TAB up from where it had clattered to the ground between her feet, holding it out to the other girl, and ultimately admitting defeat to the damned thing. It was clear that the longer that she tried messing with it, the more likely it was she'd cause more harm than good. ]
You know how to work this thing, then?

Yeah... didn't think so.
[ First thing she does is erase the message, that's still on the screen. Next, Archer tosses the mess of her mane to a side so it's not on the way (it's still kind of in the way anyway) and clears her throat, suddenly finding herself out of words. ]
Um, okay. Honestly? It reminds me of a smartphone, although this thing is ridiculously more advanced. Nothing some poking around can't help.
[ She proceeds to show Blue how to operate the menus, sometimes using her own TAB for comparison. She goes slow, but not as slow as to imply that Blue can't catch up, although she does stop and ask if she's actually following her every now and then ]

Blue is constantly on the losing end of her battle with technology. ]
And just when I had gotten the hang of working a smartphone.
[ Is she kidding? Not at all. But she laughs quietly nonetheless, watching the girl next to her closely as she goes through the basic functions of the TAB, Blue reaching forward every few moments to mimic the steps in an attempt to etch them into her brain.
After a short time, and only a few repeat lessons, Blue's just about mastered -- or rather, noviced -- working the device, and she offers Archer a smile. Genuine and appreciative. After all, the girl didn't have to come and help her, plenty of others had passed her by, continued about her day without even giving her a second glance. ]
Thanks, for that. Sending the whole place into a panic wouldn't have been the best first impression. I'm Blue, by the way.

Oh, trust when I say that nobody will ever get the hang of working with one of those. Just when you think you're good whammo! they add some new stuff to it.
[ In a way, Archer had been looking for a chance to feel even remotely useful, so this plays in both of their benefits. Still, it's refreshing to hear someone say something nice about her. ]
Hey, don't mention it. Nobody needs that first impression. And I'm Archer; it's very nice too meet you Blue, even though the circumstances... [ Archer cocks her head and clicks her tongue.
Yeah. ]
no subject
Oh well, she'll cross that bridge when she gets to it. ]
Nice to meet you too, Archer. [ Inwardly, Blue's amused at the nonconventionality of both of their names. Outwardly, she shows nothing more than the slightest hint of a grin, her shoulders lifting in a shrug. ] I don't know, I reckon it's better than we meet this way, than by me making a complete ass of myself.

Eventually, Archer's going to have to mention that her proper name is Archea, but she'll be damned if that doesn't sound even weirder than Archer. Still, a name's just a thing you decide to call yourself, right? No big deal. ]
Do you have an habit of making an ass of yourself? I wouldn't know just going by how this is going so far. There's always a second impression, though.
[ It's a very tame tease, but it's the best she can manage. ]
