Not likely, no.

[ It may be said casually, but the same thing has been nagging at him for months now. Memories that aren't his own, behavior that isn't his own, a reputation he never built. A house he recognized and yet it lacked the same history. And now he's the one on the other side of this, the one with existing memories that are not that of his friend.

It will never not be strange to be faced with the reality of something only scarcely theorized in their time back home (or what Charles assumes must be their time, as much as he knows even that is more relative than makes sense to anyone).

He turns slowly in the chair, even as he continues to slowly move forward, to gauge his friend's reaction. ]


You've been here--with us, at least--and left again, and yet it wasn't you. I couldn't tell you if it allows for more than one at a time.

[ God, he hopes not. He doesn't want to meet himself--not again, that's too poorly associated with such a downturn in his life--nor does he particularly fancy the idea of Erik existing in more than a single capacity at a time: the world, whichever they're on at a time, may not survive it. ]
