“Oohh..” He says, nodding in understanding. “Oooohh!” He says, once he actually understands. He’s ashamed he can’t think of anything polite to say. He wants to ask if she has magic, or if she carries around experience or gold, but when actually confronted with her… well…
This isn’t the same as a dungeon crawler. ‘Monster’ must have some different connotation where she comes from, but… the thought of ‘defeating’ her to get money or any sort of harm just made his face burn (and gave him more than a little nausea). He wasn’t in a video game, and this lady wasn’t just some objective. Maybe she meant some kinda ‘movie monster’. They were always misunderstood, and there was a lot of stuff coming out that recently! He continues after a few seconds worth of an awkward pause.
“Yeah, please! Are we in… um… ‘The Bow’?” He starts fiddling with his MID. He can find a map, but isn’t quite sure how to orient himself. There isn’t exactly a big ‘You Are Here” arrow everywhere he goes, and he can only find half of the locations on his itinerary. “I don’t know where the different living deck things are. Or the mess hall….. Or the training place… or the library….” He starts to sound bit by bit more crestfallen. This stuff should be easy to find on his own. He just couldn’t, for the life of him, make sense of the navigation on the MID.
