[Being whole again shouldn't be such an unsettling experience. It was his original state, after all - the state he should be. But being scattered through time isn't something you can just switch back from.
So it's to be expected that he's still very disoriented. His mind just hasn't caught up with his body yet. Or maybe his body hasn't caught up with his mind? It's hard to tell.
And yet, even so, a distraction manages to make him forget all about that, briefly. His movements are stiff and not quite right, but he does move, closer and closer to this familiar sight. He isn't sure what he's feeling, but he can sort that out later.
