[She gets his attention with that seemingly innocent enough statement. Tony doesn't address that directly, but his head raises a bit and he catches her eyes like a dog that just heard a familiar word. So she thought she saw someone. Presumably someone she knew, which means she probably did.

And he's going to check up on that himself later.

After that moment of sharp interest, though, he seems to brush it all aside. For the time being it's just the two of them on the observation deck and he can store that little fact in the back of his mind without putting her on the spot. All Verity gets is a vague "oh, really?" quietly murmured from the man as an absent thought. What Tony does address is her last comment, which he takes as a mild jab at his reputation.]

I don't think our current hosts would appreciate an attempt at overthrowing their authority within the first day. [He laughs quietly at that, but he didn't really disagree either.] I'm happy to offer my assistance, which I think everyone will find much more agreeable. We can discuss who's in charge of what once we figure out how this happened in the first place. That's more important.

[Despite his failings in many areas, he does try to prioritize. Even when he didn't agree with his friends and the other heroes, Tony always tried to do what he thought was helping the most people. He gives Verity a knowing smile. This isn't a power struggle yet, and he doesn't want to instigate one without a good reason.]
