Snake and Wash probably end up standing near each other as Shep explains her plan. When Wash did eventually speak up, Snake would take note of what he said. For all that he knows Wash is a military man, he's never seen him in action before. If they're going to be acting in different parts of the fight it'll probably remain a mystery, but Wash comes across as someone capable, worth having in their defense corner.
