The Girl is going to be very tense with the new changes, and as such I was considering letting her powers come to the forefront during this. Can she wreck/short out some of the lights in one of the hallways? Would her powers be able to effect the cameras in the particular hallway or will they work on a different electrical line? I wanted to clear any property damage before moving forward.

Edited to add: Are the food rations going to be the same across the board or based on individual caloric need? For the latter, will the person had to have been examined and have the need medically approved first?
