OOC Plotting Post for Ingress stuff!

Hello Savorites!

Mel and Lae here with a follow up to this IC post about the Ingress Journals.

Rather than putting up a log and trying to thread noodling out the translations, we would like to invite anyone who has a character who will be pitching in to help to sign up here.

Basically give us a brief idea of how your character will be contributing!

ICly this will take the characters approximately a week to ten days at which time they will manage to get bits and pieces of the journals translated, which will be in a follow-up post.

For now please feel free to jump on board and lend a hand! As little or as much as your character would be interested in offering. Also, even though we don't have a log planned, please feel free to use this post to coordinate scenes and threads, make all the CR opportunities!

So if they've got their hands on two of these journals, are there many more out there to be found? And if so, would they want the services of an assassin with super vision to help track them down?

There are actually three journals! Two of them were found after the original owners dropped the game, and I don't think this is ICly known, but the third is currently safe with another character. So unfortunately there won't be any more found out in the wild!

ALL THAT SAID... Evie's skillset will probably be useful for something directly relating to this a little later on, so stay tuned 8)

Are there notes or a guideline for what characters are allowed to discover in the work log? I have Tex working on it in the capacity of an AI and she would be able to pick out patterns and correlations more quickly than the human participants, so I want to know what I can have her noticing (particularly in the thread I tagged into with Liquid Snake, because they're looking for correlations together).

The idea is that a collaborative effort, using a variety of approaches and skills, will ultimately yield results.

So like Ronan offered a magic based device that helps works as a key, Swerve talked about leveraging the Transformer's language interpretation software, others have their heads down doing it long hand. While no single approach will be an AH HAH moment, each approach layers in a step, and then a step and then a step.

If that makes sense?

So for instance Tex and Liquid Snake, could start seeing patterns of symbols that suggest they may be deliberately repeated, but still be unsure if it's a repeated word or a number or a whole sentence or ... take your pick of weird alien language.

What will your character be doing?: Lmao he really has so little skill or knowledge, but he wants to be of some help, so he'll probably be doing basically any errands adrien asks him to 8||| he has a high tolerance for sitting around for hours reading really boring things, so if there's any book research to be done, he can do that too. otherwise, lmfao, he's p useless.

What will your character be doing?: Well, there's the bar that could be used as gathering place if anyone needed room that's safe from cameras and from authority figures. J has had her own doubts about this for a good while but never really spoke her mind out? She believes that there's something weird going on with captain Than regarding Ingress? So, yeah she could def try to snoop out more info about this thing (she also has some truth serum with her oops). and then she can be on coffee duty.

L is not a member of the Ingress team but did mess around with it when it needed to be cleaned; spends most of his time working in Tower, or with his gf, or poking around the library. Has a lot of "figuring things out" skills. Has the third journal and has spent some time puzzling over it and over his copies of Al's. Sure, I'd do threads.

What will your character be doing?: He might be a fighter, but he's also pretty good at languages, considering he speaks seven fluently (English, Spanish, French, Malay, Arabic, Kikongo, and one mystery one (I just go with Japanese because hey, Japanese game).) Let's get him doing something constructive.

Is this character a member of the Ingress Work Staff?: Swerve works in the 'Science Department' but so far hasn't showed up for work, instead being a drunk bum in his room. So this'll get him out!
What will your character be doing?: Mostly just talking a lot and being a gigantic bother. He'll have his holo avatar when working with other people since he's pre large (and it's an excuse to break it out.) I'll have to double check with the mods, but IDW transformers sort of have a multi translator inbedded in their programming?? So Swerve or any of the bots may just be able to read the runes. But like I said, I'd have to check with mods!
Are you interested in doing any threads based on this?: Yes please! Swerve needs a distraction and it's this or using science equipment to distill his own high grade energon to get drunk.

What will your character be doing?: Darin will probably be making identical copies of the journals into his own notebooks, just in case something happens to the original journals. He's also going to be looking for any symbols, matching them up on the Ingress, and noting where they're located and if they have any correlation to how the Ingress functions. He'd be up for anyone looking over his shoulder/backseat driving/commenting on anything he's writing/drawing/doing.

What will your character be doing?: Kamala can grow and shrink her entire body and/or limbs so she is useful for building or examining things. She also likes science and Iron Man so it's perfect.

What will your character be doing?: volunteering use of his Nova helmet to help translate. it can translate spoken word, but he's never tried using it for written word before, so idk how much help it'll be

Is this character a member of the Ingress Work Staff?: No
What will your character be doing?: Kaworu will be available for exploring Section U. Due to the nature of what he is and the nature of his AT Field (I can clarify if you want) he can't be disoriented by the whispers. However, he is also pretty limited in his ability to access things and relay useful information from things he doesn't already understand. This also means he'll be utterly useless for translating runes; language is not a power native to Angels anyway. So he's useless until then.

To my understanding the disorientation and the whispers are a game mechanic, so I can't make any sort of determination on how they would affect Kaworu. You might want to clarify that with the mods?
