Ingress travel can be disorienting, but there’s no need to worry! All side effects are temporary and lessen with each trip. Your body may experience several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You may have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. You notice that the area you are in is filled with a soft cerulean light and feels slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you. Regardless of your current state, however, the stress of initial Ingress travel forces your body into unconsciousness.
Waking up is another story. Or maybe it isn’t.
You find yourself in a nondescript room; sometimes with others who have found themselves in the same situation, sometimes alone. A medical tech is always present to explain what’s happened before giving you some clothes, a TAB, and a guide that discusses things in further detail. This entire process also consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health in order to obtain your signature—a specific frequency that will allow them to hone in on exactly where it is you’re from in order to get you back there. You spend your first week on the Ingress Complex while other accommodations and arrangements are made for you.

phanos
⋆ Phanos is classified as Exploration Class (EC) and is open to all travelers. The dry heat on the planet is overwhelming, but it's important that as many people as possible visit so that scientists can track down the origin of a strong signal pulsing somewhere on the planet. Its frequency indicates that if it is found, Ingress engineers may be able to hone in on people's signatures to send them home. However, frequent dust storms on the planet's surface are causing interference. It is strongly advised that investigators visit in groups—and keep their mouths closed!

It's obscured his vision enough that he hasn't been able to tell up to now that his fellow traveler isn't exactly human, but he wouldn't care. Especially not when it begins to clear up.]
Holy shit! [He coughs, brushes sand away from his face but it's easier to see now, to breathe.] How did you do that?
no subject
[Here it just feels like being cooked alive.]
[As the storm begins to die, the air begins to clear, he's reaching to pull his hood back over his head. It doesn't hide the snout, or the tail. Or the taloned toes splayed into the sand in place of boots... But it's a little bit of cover.]
A sh-shout. Thu'um. I um. Are you okay?
no subject
I'm all right. A shout, huh? That's definitely the most impressive shout I've ever heard. And I grew up with nuns.
no subject
Y-yes. Magic. But I'm not a mage! [His hands gesture a little.] I'm. I wanted to be an alchemist.
[As he's carting around a sword, shield and armor.]
no subject
[Not him, though. Well, maybe on really bad months when he needed to pay rent yesterday. Otherwise that sounds like the most boring way possible to get treasure.
Nate starts brushing sand out of his hair, scanning the horizon as he does to see what is now viewable.]
Nothing wrong with being a mage, though. Some of my best friends are mages.
no subject
[He's rambling. He knows it, and shuts up. Opting to fumble around his belt for water.]
[Peeking up slightly as the human speaks again.]
Is there a College here? For mages?
[He'd always wanted to try it out. But "No you have to mind the store" led to "we don't have the money to send you to the Imperial City". And then Skyrim happened.]
[And Winterhold hadn't exactly been eager to let in someone who tripped over their words. But maybe here...]
no subject
Like a university? Not as far as I know. [He thinks about it for a moment.] I'm not sure any kind of magic exists in the natives of the planets, actually. Maybe they never saw the need.
[Especially not with all the crazy sci-fi tech they already have. It's nearly indistinguishable from magic, as far as he can tell.]
But my buddy Dorian gave me lessons when I temporarily had magic. Maybe the two of you could teach each other stuff. Or group up with the other mages and have a club. [But first] Oh, right—I should introduce myself. I'm Drake—Nathan Drake.
[He extends a hand for shaking.]
no subject
[Get it together, lizard.]
[He scratches a little at the scales under his chin. Idly. As something to do with his hands.]
I... don't know, maybe. I'm not -- I've tried magic, but all I've got is the Thu'um. Alchemy's different.
[Oh, there's a hand. His eyes brighten a bit, and he nods his head.]
Amelius. Meli. It's not Argonian, I know. It's. Imperial.
he is precious btw :D
[But no lizard people, so clearly, different worlds.]
Magic and alchemy both seem pretty cool to me. Aside from the one time, I've never been able to use either—mostly I get by with my wits. And a gun, when it's necessary.
thank you!! and also thank you for helping voicetest him
[He's back to scratching at the scales under his chin. He could go on, mention Cyrodiil. But if this human has never seen or heard of an Argonian before then... well.]
[That's a waste of breath.]
Oh alchemy. It's -- really not that hard! When you know the ingredients -- oh and um. Don't just. Eat them to test them, that's bad. [Speaking from experience here.] What is a gun?
glad to!
I definitely won't eat them. And a gun is this.
[He unholsters his sidearm, keeping the safety on, his finger off the trigger, and absolutely not handing it to his new pal. Safety first.]
It fires projectiles—really hard, really fast. You don't want to be on the other end of one of these.
