He'd say that they both want the same thing, and if they get the answers they want, then no harm really needs to come to anyone. Given his background in interrogation, he'd appeal to what it seems like she'd want.
On the subject of control, he might push a little further, and knowing what he does about the system from others, he might also try to get a little of her backstory, see if the lower-level intermediaries are also pawns in this.
