[The other man does not return whatever passes for a smile these days, but Erik doesn’t take it personally. As touchy as he can seem sometimes, it actually takes quite a bit before he’s offended. Usually something along the lines of “You should compromise on the continual survival of your people.” He repeated what Erik already knew and directed him to the other puzzle.

He hesitates, one eyebrow arching, but only for a moment before following the other man’s direction.
The puzzle is simple enough, once he no longer was concerned about how to manage both at once. The he has to remind himself not to try to use his powers. He had already been established, repeatedly, that it won’t work and he doesn’t know how this stranger will react. But the memory of Apocalypse’s power thundering in his veins still echoes.]


The solution is to have all of the indicators line up. What gets tricky is marking how many turns of each gear is necessary, as each gear in turn will move the others. And there we are. [With a satisfying click, the lock disengages. He holds it in place until he is sure that his apparent companion, at least for the length of this task, has also solved the puzzle.
