February Test Drive Meme
Multiversal travel can be disorienting, but there’s no need to worry! All side effects are temporary and lessen with each trip. Your body may experience several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You may have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer dizziness while others are perfectly fine. You notice that the area you are in is filled with a soft cerulean light and feels slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you. Regardless of your current state, however, the stress of transit forces your body into unconsciousness. Waking up is another story. Or maybe it isn’t. You find yourself in a nondescript room; sometimes with others who have found themselves in the same situation, sometimes alone. Welcome to Avagi Station, your new home. New arrivals are, of course, welcome to explore the various locations around the station. Additionally everyone is provided with a communicator in case they want to pose any questions to the population already residing on Avagi. |
Moon 900CA1 |
Like every city has a junkyard, this universe is littered with (mostly) uninhabited planets or moons that are being used for the same purpose. Welcome to one of the many universal "dump sites" of the galaxy. Moon 900CA1 is one of many, a celestial body belonging to the planet of Ploria, and as this area of the universe is technologically advanced in comparison to others, so is a majority of the junk left here. There is a haze encompassing this moon and breathing masks are needed for anyone who decides to visit the surface. Every inch of ground is covered in debris, various spacecrafts, and machines. Some of it is piled higher than one can see over if standing at the bottom. spare parts: What’s even better than having to trade precious goods or services for the equipment that the station so desperately needs? Getting them for free. Well, free with the added ingredient of elbow-grease. Stocking up spare parts is a must when traveling the universe. This planet is brimming with discarded ships, machines, vehicles, and all manners of "outdated" technology. You’ve been given a list of things to keep an eye out for while you’re out shopping but feel free to pick up something for yourself. After all, one species’ trash might be your coolest thing ever. build-a-thing: While it’s clear that most of the visitors here are scavenging or looting, there are a very small number of booths scattered throughout where vendors have set up shop. Is there something you need or want? New jet-propulsion space shoes? A small flying craft? A robot? These vendors will use scrap parts that you’ve found and brought to them, for a small fee of course, to build it for you. Be sure to bring the best parts that you can because you’ll only get the highest quality that you’ve provided. trash junkies:: Such large stacks of trash are bound to shift and move over time, it’s simply a natural part of this moon’s gravity fluctuations, but why is it that the movements are perfectly in sync with every step you take? You move, the debris moves. You stop, the junk stills. If you choose to investigate, or get too close too quickly, you’ll discover that you aren’t alone in your scavenging. Creatures, varying anywhere between a foot to over ten feet tall, dive and sort through the debris. They are diligent in their searches and shy away from organic contact of any kind. If you have anything that they deem of value in your hands, they’ll wait until your back is turned and then try to take it from you. On the plus side, they don't seem too dangerous? moon tomb: Those who choose not to wear a breathing mask will notice a horrible and overwhelming scent wafting gently on the wind. It’s a scent that is familiar, but you can’t quite place it. At first. The ACE devices coordinate with your respiratory functions, and a small notice will flash across the screen: High concentration of decomposing organic material. Some will know what this means and head back to the portals immediately. Those who don’t, or are too curious, will follow their ACEs to areas with much higher concentration levels and stumble across an equally common occurrence on these kind of disposal planets: bodies, of varying species, discarded for one reason or another. There are thousands of them spread out among the refuse, and the further you explore, the longer your ACE warns of exposure to elements of disease. Now might be the time to turn back... |

holds arms out.
He's so occupied with that feeling that he doesn't sense Raven until she's pretty near, a prickling behind his eyes that has him drop whatever he's holding and twist round in a hurry. Whatever arguments they might have had recently, the look of relief that sweeps over his features is purely that. )
Raven.
( He abandons everything, reaching for her instinctively. ) I thought I'd lost you. Are you all right?

When he reaches for her, hand on her arm, this shakes her out of her reverie and she stiffens a bit under the far too affectionate and familiar touch. Too much has happened in the interim, Charles. She's not your cute little wide eyed shapeshifter sister anymore.
She opens her mouth to speak but words are failing her.] Charles- [That's all she can manage for the moment, before her throat tightens and her chest ties into an impossible knot.]
no subject
There's something sad about his gaze, the tell-tale sign of rallying his emotions in the clenched muscle of his jaw. He'll fix this, but for now making sure she's safe is his top priority. His hand drops, awkward at his side. He hates this uniform and he can't quite find the right footing to look comfortable. )
Are you hurt? I lost sight of you before. ( He was so focused on helping Erik, stopping Shaw, keeping the children from harm. ) If I'd have known you were here too, I'd have looked for you, I promise. It took me some time to -- gather myself.
( His mind has been a mess, death and despair filling him up. )
no subject
No. No. It's all wrong.] I'm not hurt. I'm fine, Charles. [It's you who won't be. Jesus, please let him not be trying to read her thoughts right now. He's so young it hurts. But he'd never lost that sickening idealism. Or his incessant need to try and protect her.]
That... [How to even explain this to him.] That all happened a very long time ago for me. [She'll ignore about his not trying to find her while she'd been here. It wasn't as though Raven had gone out of her way to track him down. Or Erik. Or Kurt. Any of the others.]
YOU SAW NOTHING.
( Raven can control her appearance, there's nothing giving away her age when Charles looks at her. And while he's sorely tempted to just peek, they've had enough disagreements and broken promises the last while. He can't completely obliterate that line. )
I saw you only a few hours ago.
( A pause. ) You're not wearing your uniform. ( Another. ) And you're not blue.
;) I SAW EVERYTHING, MUAHAHAHA!
And no, I'm not blue right now. I didn't feel like answering inane questions about what planet I'm from while I rifled though this trash.
;__________;
( Honestly.
Although, when does he ever wear anything to look dashing? He lives in cardigans. Charles' gaze is curious as he studies her, concern in the furrow of his brow but his smile is just relieved that she's here and fine. ) You're sure you're all right?
( Okay, he can't quite stop fussing. )

She needs to just take the bullet and tell him. An unfortunate metaphor, but all the same. Raven curses softly under her breath.]
Cuba. That didn't just happen for me. That was twenty years ago.
no subject
But Raven doesn't get sick. Even if she did, heatstroke wouldn't really account for how strange she's acting. Charles doesn't respond as quickly as he should, eyes searching her face restlessly. )
Time travel. ( There's the slightest hint of hysteria in his voice, and he runs a restless hand through his hair. ) Why not, we seem to have experienced everything else, recently.
no subject
She is the older one now, after all. Perhaps she should be the overbearing and protective one now?] Don't be dramatic. That's Erik's job.
no subject
( As he has yet to reach his dear friend dramatically floating anywhere, Charles still thinks he's the one with all the meltdown potential. But he's doing his best to focus and not panic, even though he wants to. )
Twenty years, then. You'll have to fill me in. Let me know if there's anyone I should give a talk to. ( Their strained relationship aside, he does want to fix things with her. He hopes that whatever's happened, she's happy in the future. ) I'm glad you're here.
no subject
[Her expression sobers then. There are other things she really didn't want to rehash with him. Not again. So she's no desire to fill him in on much of anything, outside of the most vague and unimportant. Maybe, given time, she'll change her mind. Or he'll wear her down. Raven gives him a small smile, one she only ever reserved for him. The slightly exasperated but ultimately fond one.] I'm glad your here too. [She is. Even if it made things that much more complicated.]
no subject
( There's the vaguest hint of hysterical disbelief in his voice then. So many decades, and Charles hasn't experienced a single second of them. Blinking owlishly, Charles is clearly trying to rally his strength. )
Well, you don't look a day over twenty, my love.
( She can probably see the second he rethinks the statement, the smallest wince. They'd been arguing about her looks just yesterday. He doesn't think that's changed.
Rocking back on his heels a little. ) Right, we're scavenging, yes? You don't mind if I join you?
no subject
There's a small tired smile on her lips at his words. It hasn't changed. Even if Charles doesn't say it as much, she does expect he prefers it when she looks as she does now. When she's still playing the part of his sister.
Raven nods though, grateful the opportunity to concentrate on anything else than her age and the years that separate them.] You're welcome to, but don't go trying to steal my spoils. [She gives him a pointed look and playfully threatening finger.]
