ABOARD THE MOIRA
Whether adjusting to space travel has been difficult or not, there is always something to be done. From working to leisure, the Moira offers a multitude of opportunities to get to know your crewmates a bit better. Exploration of the ship is highly encouraged, but as another planet grows closer to being docked, things start to get a little hectic. You'll notice a slight change in the artificial gravity as the Moira is pulled into a gravitational field; however, more noticeable changes can be found in the overall morale as you prepare to descend.

☄ on your own
There are plenty of other communal areas on the ship to explore! Pick a place, and see where it takes you. ( These scenarios can be used as in-game canon. )

☄ round 'em up
The day begins normally. You check out the mess hall and report to your assigned job, and so far, nothing seems incredibly out of place. However, as the hours pass, you begin to notice something strange scurrying along wall edges and into open vents. For the most part, these rodents are harmless—in this stage. While they may get into the food supply in the Cargo Bay or terrorize those in the kitchen, they are not violent and appear to be skittish. However, once they've "matured" - the color of their tail will have changed from a light gray to a very dark purple, prompting them to enter a temporary stasis inside a cocoon - they aren't so cute anymore. These paklers are vicious, will bite if they're caught, and defend themselves with claws as well as the protrusions on their bodies. There is nothing to be done about them except capture them and eject them into space as they are considered a pest and very harmful to the crew and the ship. Once they run out of food, they will turn on each other as well as anything resembling a living creature. The captains provide the proper equipment, electric nets as well as tranquilizers, to assist with the capture of the paklers and their immediate removal from the Moira.

☄ what's yours is mine
Something seems a bit off about the laundry delivery service these days, doesn't it? Has the Moira always had one of those? Whether you realize it immediately or not, something is very wrong about the clothes that have suddenly appeared in your wardrobe. They are either much too big or far too small, and as far as you can tell, there seems to be no happy medium in all of this. Will you Dress To Impress in your new uniforms? Will you swap with someone who might be a similar size regardless of the fact their uniform colors are not the same as your own? Or will you simply walk naked through the halls of the ship, carefree and bare to the rest of your crewmates?

☄ n'sync
While exploring the ship, first down one hall and then another, you come across a strange door you've never seen before. When you pull it open, you'll find someone, a crew member, standing on the other side, hand outstretched as if they've just opened that door from the opposite side. Every move you make, they mirror, and if they shift to the left or right, you also shift left or right. Absolutely everything the both of you do is the same except for the words that come out of your mouth; somehow, you still manage to maintain the ability to talk without mimicking your partner. You're unable to completely control your movements again until someone says "in sync". Good luck figuring out the magic words, and if you decide to question the captains (or anyone else) about it, they won't have any idea what it is you're talking about.

He stares at her for a moment and then starts giggling. It's not like he gives a shit how anyone sees him, anyway. He knows that he's a good protector and he knows that she knows it, too.

"Nope." Wobbling a little, he stands up on his own and rests a hand on her shoulder for a moment. "Let's find one and then I'll fight them so that I'll be convincing, too."

Being a slender guy has left him having to prove himself plenty of times, but he's learned to make his point quick and sharp when it comes to making sure people know that he means business.

[Chara's eyes flash. Did he just--? Yes, he did. It's a clash of titans in Chara's mind, their antisocial tendencies warring with how completely unacceptable it would be to leave the challenge unanswered.]

[Chara doesn't stand a chance. Their hands tremble for a moment, before they pose while they talk.]

Deeper calling elsewhere, my foot. I don't need to be the best actor to beat you at this!

[what's the contest again. Who cares, Chara's down for it.]

[The turn and cartwheel ends with a slight stutter on Frisk's end, but they stick the landing easily enough. They really are going to be getting a workout if this keeps up--but it's good practice, especially with that offer to be on Mettaton's show here!]

Of course I will, playing with you is the best!

[When Frisk jumps they're surprised for a moment that Mettaton doesn't follow suit, and it takes a few seconds before it catches up that the weird spell has broken. Once that registers, Frisk laughs and runs forward to jump up for a big hug.]

It's gonna be so much fun!

I wasn't intending to provide you with a script, but yes, that would be fine.

[Taking a step toward Riptide, he attempts to get him moving in the correct direction instead of standing uselessly as his knees knocked together in fear.]

There are a lot of things in what she said, a lot of hints that all point to... nothing that... Link thinks he likes. Link hasn't been chosen by just the Triforce, but by one of the Goddesses, specifically. The fact that Hyrule has faced evil like Ganondorf before, and that... someone else had gone through what he had. And maybe, based on the way Fi is talking, not just someone. But... him? Link, himself? He doesn't understand how. But time clearly has something to do with it.

Link thinks Fi might be asking about what happened, about why he had the Master Sword. And he...

... he isn't sure if he's ready to talk about it. Even after all the time he's spent in Termina, he doesn't think he's ready to talk about it. He never told Tatl anything about his last adventure, even when she'd been obviously probing for answers. He's never really... talked to anyone about it. Not even when he warned Zelda and the King of Hyrule about Ganondorf. He didn't fully explain himself. He explained what happened to the Great Deku Tree, to the Gorons and Lord Jabu-Jabu. That was what they were going to accept, because that was clear proof. He didn't have proof for everything he'd gone through. And that was... the closest he'd ever gotten to talking to anyone about what happened.

If Fi is the Master Sword, then... she should know. He should tell her. But... Can he? Right now?

Link's eyes had lowered when Fi mentioned his age, and they've stayed low as he's thought this through. He finally lifts them, unaware of the way the weight of his experiences show on his shoulders, in the shadow behind his eyes.

"A man named Ganondorf wanted the Triforce," he offers, voice quiet. That's the important part, and that's what he can bring himself to say right now. And so is this: "He doesn't have it any more." He chose to share that implication, and he's going to let it hang. Things were bad. Things were very bad, for a while.

She watches him the same was she always has. He's thinking about what she's said, taking the time to digest the words. That's fine. Better, even, that he try and figure things out for himself. A Hero must display power, wisdom and courage in equal measures and she has faith in Link's abilities. The remnants of Demise's spirit being purified within the Master Sword is testament to that.

But when he raises his head again, she is... Intrigued? (Taken aback? Curious?) By the expression in his eyes, though his face shows the same determination she remembers.

It is a look similar to the one he wore when Honourable Zelda sealed herself away. It is not quite the same loss but it hangs heavy over him, like storm clouds.

She wonders what could have caused such a look on one so young. The spirit 'leans' back before she speaks again.

"... I understand.

"Did he not possess the Triforce in full? I can sense it's Golden Power within you, Link, as well as the spirit of the Hero chosen by the Goddess." There is something else about this. Fi remembers well the curse that was Demise's last words... A curse on both her Master and Her Grace. But something about that look, and the soft way in which he divulges what little information he has, prevents her from speaking.

"...

"I sense there is something you are withholding from me, that there is a 89% chance that it has something to do with our contract during your time and that it grieves you greatly." She pauses, the ruffles of her sleeves fluttering a little faster during it. Was she agitated? Fi's not entirely sure... "However, as that man named Ganondorf no longer has the Triforce and you do not carry the Master Sword with you, I feel there is no need for me to pursue it at present."

The Hero's uneasiness causes her to question herself but of this? Of this, Fi is certain.

[She shrugs indifferently.] Not really. He had some kind of teleportation device built into his body that was malfunctioning, and I corrected it. Other than that it's just been occasional minor maintenance. Of course, I don't exactly have much context for how frequently your kind requires repairs, and "often" is entirely relative...

[She pulls up in front of the ship's Energon supply, frowning at it.]

Is this what you're looking for?

[She also lacks context for this, but the amount there is pathetically low. They haven't had much luck gathering the stuff on the last few planets.]

Most certainly not about Chara's foot though.]

Well then, if you really feel that way, let's put it to the test!

Not twins. He's not my brother.

[The denial comes quick and hot, Mark's chin jerking up and to the side, one of Miles' gestures he's learnt so well he can't unlearn it. Whatever Miles thinks, they aren't family, because he has no family at all.]

I'm- I just look like him.

[He's not sure how many people here even know Miles has a clone, or if an... eight year old? will really understand the idea, so he goes with the mild simplification. He can't help sounding disgusted at the idea, though.]

I don't get why this is such a big deal to him. I'm not anything he had a hand in.

[A little of the anger drains off him, leaving him just tired, aware his hand is actually stinging a little. He takes a deep breath, trying to stand a little straighter, ignoring the pain.

And really, it isn't her fault Miles is... Miles, and she did try to be a little nice. He stoops for a moment, picking up the handkerchief, holding it out. He should probably say something about sorry, but... he's not sure how.]

Delicate, right. Just- I'm not Miles, okay. I wish there was an easier way to make it obvious.

[He's not even asking about "delicate situations".]

It's just a ship. A weird one, and I don't know what the Ingress is about, but it's still just a ship.

[He frowns, not willing to let it go. Honestly, he's pretty sure there was never anything about delusions in anything he had to learn about Miles, but he wouldn't be surprised. And he does look pretty tired.]

The way we don't seem to be able to get away from each other, or me being here?

[Mark's turn to mutter, half-defensive. He's used to Miles chasing him; for some reason, the thought of Miles not chasing him makes him feel a little off-balance.]
heart_breaking: (Stare)

[personal profile] heart_breaking 2016-03-30 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh. [They think it over.] Like me and Frisk.

[He isn't the one whose face they wanted to skin before they punched it. He's just--someone. What are the differences between them? Chara's eyes search, seizing on small things they didn't notice before. This guy has the lower eyebrows, and a blunter chin. Miles' face was different--probably. It's enough that Chara is satisfied.] Whatever.

[With that almost friendly dismissal, Chara reaches under the chair cushion and tugs out a book.]
accidentaltruth: (exasperation)

[personal profile] accidentaltruth 2016-03-31 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
No!

[The denial comes automatically, a little more strongly than he intended, and he shifts a little, finding something to cover with. He really doesn't want to kill anyone, though, not any more.]

What would be the point? It's not going to do me any good here, and I'll be the first person some people think of.

[He looks up, studying Gregor again for a few moments, turning words over in his head. He's never really thought of it like that, but then, he's never really been given that kind of freedom before either.]

You really think I can be someone else?
lets_see_what_happens: The sons born to you (nam qui pro tuis patribus)

[personal profile] lets_see_what_happens 2016-03-31 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Gregor's eyes warm a little and his mouth tilts, almost but not quite a smile.]

That is quite a relief to hear. Additionally, death does not appear to be permanent here, so if you did murder me it would mostly result in me being exceedingly annoyed with you about a week and some change later, if the ship runs true to form. Miles knows more about it, as he's actually died since we got here. However, if you are not intent on my immediate demise, your hand is still bleeding. Let me?

[He digs some medical supplies, antiseptic and gauze, out of a pouch and holds a hand out for Mark's, not moving closer or touching him until he offers. He continues regardless.]

And, that depends entirely on what you mean by 'someone else.' If you mean 'someone else besides Miles,' then yes I do--in fact, I think you're succeeding quite admirably right now, congratulations and thank God, we barely know what to do with one of him running around. If you mean 'someone else besides Ser Galen's finely crafted instrument of pain and death', the answer is yes again, absolutely. If you mean 'someone else other than yourself'... then no. But the trick about that is to stop trying to be someone else and start trying to make yourself into someone you want to be. There is a fine but extremely critical distinction which can take some getting used to.

I understand my opinion is both of a not-entirely-unbiased third party and comes completely unsolicited, but whoever you are now, I am having a perfectly pleasant conversation with him and I think I'd very much like to get to know him better. If that helps.

I couldn't say why, to be honest with you. Miles didn't mention you to me, and while he does seem very dedicated to the family he has here, I don't know the kind of history you two have. Maybe it's the principle of the thing...?

[She has no idea. She's just throwing out ideas here.]

I understand, I'm sorry I mistook you for him I, uh, should have looked at your uniform more closely. [She holds out her hand.] I'm Elizabeth DeWitt. It's nice to meet you. [This seems like the right gesture-- start over, he's an individual, after all. Pretending like she already knew him is ludicrous.]

None of us really know what the Ingress is about. That's sort of my whole point. D'you have any idea how many people have lost their shoes coming through? Sometimes there seems to be some kind of cosmic sense humor about it -- some cosmically bad sense of humor.

[ jury's out on whether this is a hallucination or not. this whole...being stuck in mirror-mode is just jarring enough to be the stuff of miles's personal nightmares, although if this is his new recurring nightmare, he'll gladly take this over everything else. the scald of coffee on his leg certainly felt real enough, though. miles finds himself needing to resist the urge to rub his face once again, only partly because it'd force mark to do the same.

miles blinks owlishly at him instead and then smiles just slightly, all irony. ]

The latter? Most certainly. The former, well -- that's a matter of perspective, I suppose.

"More like I'll be draggin' ya to the medbay." She wrinkles her nose at the thought, even as she laughs. Doctor Yewll had been nice enough, but she really didn't want to put faith in the staff to patch up even the most minor scrapes. The initial medical check hadn't set well with the child.

"Hold off the punchin' for a bit, right? Got better things to show ya. Like the food. They got so much food here. More than you've ever seen in your entire life!" It's more than she's ever seen, at least. "And water! Kobra, they got so much water they just swim and bath in it like it's nothing. And it's all clean. Really, really clean."

It's a little amazing to her, how this place has managed to find such a bounty of fresh supplies. Things people would fight to have back home. But she sounds disgusted; the crew was wasting it. No one here seems to understand the worth of what they had.

No doctors is the first thought that crosses his mind, loud and angry. He doesn't want to deal with them more than he needs to, but she doesn't need to deal with that particular line of thought right now. There's time for that later.

"Gonna have to show me all this food and water. Sounds too good to be true." Like it shouldn't be trusted, maybe, but he's so fucking hungry and he's been eating a lot of dog food lately, so it might be worth the risk if he can see other people eating it, too, and they don't seem all doped up.

Link looks away again when she makes it very clear that she knows he isn't telling her everything. This time, guilt is the cause. If that doesn't confirm Fi's theory, then very little short of a verbal confession from Link will. He wants to say that he's grateful that she isn't going to push for answers, but... He can't quite make the words rise to his mouth. They're stuck somewhere between his throat and his chest in the form of a terrible, tight feeling.

But, about Ganondorf... He can explain that much. He's talked about it once before, in a way. So it makes it easier to talk about it again. He lifts his gaze back to Fi.

"He came in contact with the Triforce, and sent Hyrule into an age of darkness. But the Triforce split into pieces. He was left with only Power. The Triforce of Courage chose me. The Triforce of Wisdom went to Princess Zelda." Princess Zelda... He wonders... what she would think of this. Of meeting the spirit inside the Master Sword. Did she even know the Master Sword had a spirit? His eyes wander, slowly drifting down for a moment, before he raises them back up again. "But, we stopped him. The Master Sword is resting in the Temple of Time again."
