OCTOBER TEST DRIVE MEME

ABOARD THE MOIRA

Whether adjusting to space travel has been difficult or not, there is always something to be done. From working to leisure, the Moira offers a multitude of opportunities to get to know your crewmates a bit better. Exploration of the ship is highly encouraged, but as another planet grows closer to being docked, things start to get a little hectic. You'll notice a slight change in the artificial gravity as the Moira is pulled into a gravitational field; however, more noticeable changes can be found in the overall morale as you prepare to descend.

There are plenty of other communal areas on the ship to explore! Pick a place, and see where it takes you.

AREA 895B EXPLORATION

Most of this colony has certainly seen better days--on the inside. Upon disembarking the Moira, crew members will notice that Area 895B appears poor but densely populated. It’s a mid-point between several planets, so the culture and its people are incredibly diverse. The docks are intricate and woven together like a maze, and without direction or the numerous signs that decorate the walls, it’s a place one can easily find themselves lost in. The “city proper” consists mostly of slums, but as aboard the ship, there is plenty to do and see.

● bars: A-895B is notorious for them! In fact, there seems to be one on almost every corner that caters to a different sort of clientele. Poor, rich, richer. Do some of them even have an escort service? Most likely, yes.
● sanctuary: Like a church, this building stands tall and proud in the center of the colony. Its structure seems to be in constant change; it is always being worked on. Yet, once inside, the interior is quiet and consists of many, many staircases. Along each step, there are so many candles that there is only enough room for safe passage up or down…
● market: A good place to barter and trade. Like most areas, anything can be haggled for as long as you’re willing to pay the price.

☄ exchange booth:

Throughout random locations in A-895B, crew members will happen upon simple booths with little decoration and a native sitting behind it. For those with experience, they might think it resembles something like a kissing booth. However, these kisses are more an exchange than anything else: trade and receive a “gift”. These gifts will vary depending, but they are all contained inside a tiny box. Could it be something you were missing from home? Is it an item you’ve wanted for the last several trips planet-side? How did they even know, and what’s the catch?

A day of your life taken with that kiss. Should that not be enough to not ask such questions?

Yeah, that is the silver lining in this cloud, isn't it? With any luck, someone else here will be some other planet's equivalent of us and ease the game of 20 Questions that'll come.

Shouldn't silver linings be a warning of some kind, for a man such as yourself? [Another coy smile.] It won't be the first time I've had to answer difficult questions, I find myself almost eager for the discovery.

[He lets out a chuckle at that, giving Eric a thumbs up as a sign that that was a good one.] It's something to look forward to, at least.

[He grins, but bites softly on his lower lip to stop it from becoming a full blown one, trying to remain a little muted and casual. Although already he'd shown more camaraderie to the relative stranger than he thought he would've this quickly.] And, after all, if we run into problems... at least we have one another.

[He doesn't notice Eric's attempt at restraining himself, as he's looking more out the observation deck than at the other man.] Does it make me a pessimist if it feels like it's more of a matter of when we run into problems, even if they're not with everyone else on the ship?

[He shakes his head once.] A pessimist? No. Thinking realistically and objectively, bah oui. [He smooths down his jacket, wanting to put his hands in his pockets but hearing the clucking tones of his grandmother even while he makes the motion.] When is much more probable than if as it stands.

[He sighs, although he's not really sure why.] Well, that's good, I guess. At least being realistic is actually useful.

[He nods this time, his movements cut short. He finally finds a place for his hands though, placing them on the railing of the observation deck.] It is. Although distinguishing between what we consider realistic and what in the world could be considered realistic out here... that will be a trial of its own.

[Oh... Yeah, that... That was true. Tyler groaned as he thought of that.] Yeah... That won't be fun, no. Although with some luck, they'll tell us enough about whatever places we visit to avoid us getting killed.

[He let's out a musical little chuckle.] Mon ami, I would not worry about getting killed in these places. Between the two of us I imagine we would make a formidable team. [He tilts his head, confused and wondering if this werewolf had experience of witches.] I did mention I was High Priest and head of my coven, oui? [Which tells you all you need to know about how powerful he might be. The Dufosset coven wasn't small after all, it was one of the more reputable ones in France.]

Yes, you did, sorry. [He shakes his head, as if clearing his head. He might not have that much experience with witches, but he knows what that means, of course.] Just... Got a little overwhelmed with how wrong things could go. [A deep breath to steady himself...] But you're right. We should be fine.

[Even alone, he wasn't exactly easy to kill.]

[He smiles again, nodding, more calm now.] Allies back home and allies here. The Founders would be so pleased that our delicate situation on our own plane doesn't fall apart just because we're in a different place. [He chuckles.] Our gifts will serve well, regardless of what might happen here.

[He can't help but chuckle at that, also visibly calmer.] Not that I disagree, but I can't help but feel they'd be a little disappointed at how easy it was to get us.

[He smiles a wry smile.] I imagine everything is easy for these people. From what I've seen so far what they lack in magic they make up for in superior technology.

[He raises his eyebrows and nods in agreement.] True. How did that quote go...? 'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic', I think.

[He clucks his tongue at that.] They are distinguishable to anyone in a place to sense it. [Because proud witches were proud.]

[And Tyler can't help but chuckle at that.] Of course, that goes without saying.

[He has the grace to look a little sheepish at that, of course Tyler would know that about witches. Or even magic, being in some way magical himself.]

Time will tell, however, if I ever feel truly comfortable around their technology. I can already feel myself missing the presence of magic.

[Tyler winces sympathetically at that. While missing the presence of magic didn't apply to him, naturally, having his pack bonds ripped away so sudden and, in a way, violently was... Well, he'd already described how it could make him feel.]

Yeah... Not much of a choice there, in terms of adapting, but... I wouldn't be surprised if either of us was ever really all that comfortable here.

[He hadn't factored in Tyler's pack bond yet, not really, but the moment he would come to consider it he knows he might be in a position to help the other man mentally if nothing else.]

Well we can make do and try our very best. And together we might actually have some success, after all, we did in the past. [He's speaking here of the greater we which was typical of a High Priest, one who'd received visions of the past from a young age.]

[It takes Tyler a very short moment to distinguish between the two 'we's, but once he does, he does let a small smile on his lips. He appreciates Eric's optimism, if nothing else. It does make him a little annoyed at himself for how much he'd been moping, since it's usually not how he is, but it mostly makes him feel better.]

True. No real reason we can't, really.

[He reaches out and squeezes Tyler's arm, its the kind of gesture you'd expect from a father.]

No reason at all. I will strive to the eventuality that our existence here on this spaceship is not unlike the one we have at home, mon ami. We will be afforded the same rights and courtesies as any other, on my magic I swear it.

[Tyler... Hadn't been thinking that far ahead, but, now that Eric mentions it...]

You know... I just realized something. There's... A chance we'll be kind of mundane, all things considered, won't there? I mean... There's probably no rule saying there can only be one place in the universe with some form lycanthropy, or magic. It's kind of a weird thought, yeah, but... It's not out an unreasonable one, is it?

[He smiles at that, thinking about it and actually chuckles again.]

Hm, there is that, isn't there? Maybe a High Preist and a son of the moon won't be particularly interesting compared to space travel... aliens... and gods, everything else that might be out there.

[Well, he's glad his mind's as sharp as always, at least. That was good, getting overwhelmed earlier had been enough.]

Wait and see is tried and true for a reason, I guess.
