"Don’t know when I’ll be back again."

ABOARD THE MOIRA
The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay.

Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and offered a contract to sign that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. Any questions you might have would be answered in a straightforward manner as well as an explanation about how the Ingress, the thing that has pulled you onto the Moira, is broken and bringing people here unintentionally. This process also consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand or wrist with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and to your living quarters.

Whether adjusting to space travel has been difficult or not, there is always something to be done. From working to leisure, the Moira offers a multitude of opportunities to get to know your crewmates a bit better. Exploration of the ship is highly encouraged. You may notice a slight change in the artificial gravity every once in awhile; however, more noticeable changes can be found in overall morale of those of the crew.

☄ on your own

There are plenty of other communal areas on the ship to explore! Pick a place, and see where it takes you. ( These scenarios can be used as in-game canon. )

The day begins normally. Or almost.

The Moira has accidentally fallen along the trajectory of an asteroid barreling its way through space. While most things like this are not uncommon, and the ship is far from any potential danger of collision or risk of debris damaging the exterior, there is something particularly odd about this specific occurrence. The rock itself appears to give off a strange light that is both eerie and alive. Often, if looked at in just the right manner, it will shift colors; so, while one person sees one side of the spectrum, someone else could see something entirely different. At first, things continue on as they usually do aside from the glowing asteroid alongside the Moira, but as the hours go on, that does not seem to be the case.

☄ the hours are breathing
resignedly beneath the sky the melancholy waters lie
With a rather open view of stars and space, thanks to the skylight above, the pool in the rec area suddenly comes alive beneath the light of the asteroid filtering in. Perhaps it’s some natural response to the chemical composition of the water, or perhaps it’s magic. Yet, regardless of the explanation, those who happen to take a dip suddenly find themselves plagued by despair. The depression and melancholy are not subtle changes either; it slams into you with great force, like a punch to the gut. The longer you remain in the pool, the deeper it grows, like an all-consuming paranoia that settles into the back of your mind and causes your heart to grow heavy. These strong feelings will eventually fade if you choose to leave the pool and dry off, but as long as you remain damp from the pool, those emotions will continue to linger. Even after you’re completely dry, there will be no mistaking just how intensely you felt or why. There is no explanation and might not be. Would you dare a second swim to test whether or not it was a fluke? ( These scenarios can be used as in-game canon. )

☄ those who have crossed
the eyes are not here, there are no eyes here
The walls are shrinking in. Every room you step into feels much too small, like there isn’t enough room to even breathe. A crowded place becomes startlingly empty, and no matter how much you run, how much you explore, there is no one there to comfort you or answer your calls for help. Hallucinations run strong between the lulls of obscene loneliness or claustrophobia, and exposure to the glow of the asteroid is really the only thing to thank for that. You’re desperate to claw your way out of the ship—open the emergency hatch in the Cargo Bay, bust the glass of the Observation Deck. What’s worse is that it’s not just you. It’s catching, and the fear of being next is very real. It feels like you’re being watched, that everyone around you is looking and seeing everything you are. Or are not. The only way to make it stop is to admit that you’re afraid of being seen, but who, in the deep madness of the self, has the courage to ever admit the truth? ( These scenarios can be used as in-game canon. )

☄ the sun in flight
rage, rage against the dying of the light
Something has drifted its way onto the Moira from the outside. Unlike the faint luminosity they give off, they suck up all the light around them, making them the only source to see by. From far away, they are just flitting balls of light, but if you get close enough to inspect them, they are mean. And have sharp, sharp teeth. Go poking, and they will bite you before trying to fly away while taking that only light source with them. The option to avoid them is quite easy if you’re not the curious sort, but without them around, it will be impossibly dark. As the asteroid moves on in the opposite direction of the Moira, these light creatures begin to dissolve and fade away with it. However, a word of caution: their bites glow. If you don’t manage to find the one that bit you and capture it between your hands, the bite will become a permanent glowing fixture of your body. ( These scenarios can be used as in-game canon. )

Whoa, you... [She looks back towards where she last saw him, then--] Am I losing it or did you seriously just like...turn invisible on me? [She holds up her hand beside the jellyfish squirming in his grasp.] You better watch they don't bite you, man-- Hey, here it is! C'mere--

[She wraps her hands in her sleeves - her hand's still glowing from underneath - and grabs the one that looks the exact same.] You're comin' with me... What? [...Hey, the glow's gone.] You see that? It stopped, just like that!

[ 'But not everyone'. near everyone, for andyr. he likely would've left steve down there, he thinks, if he'd seen him. maybe his connection to alva might've had andyr unable to watch him drown, but anyone else? after hapsburg, after the houses, after how the world caved on itself with the advent of a simple gene, and turned a percentage of them into test monkeys more than people? he'd take the chance they're horrible before he would give the benefit of the doubt that they'd be kind. worth saving. some says, andyr's not even sure if he's part of the latter group himself. if he hadn't been born with the gene, would he have cared? things swirling around in his head, as his chin slumps against steve's shoulder, watching the walls pass as he's toted along, towards mero deck. ]

Means something, maybe. Doesn't always mean something good. [ words that wouldn't have made it past his lips, if he were in the right mind. maybe he won't even remember this later, like with the morphine. that'd be preferred. andyr won't want to meet steve's eyes, later, and know what all he'd heard and seen from him. steve's shirt is soaked underneath him, and andyr's aware that he's just as drenched in this... whatever this is, as he is, and yet, still saying things like as long as i can do things like this. christ, what a fucking hero portrait. maybe that's the difference between them. andyr fights because he has nothing else to do with himself, because, in a strange way, it's all that saves him from, well, this.

andyr keeps going so he can destroy. steve actually believes he can make lives better.

the notion of it has andyr squirming some in his arms, once his limbs start to move, feeling more ease in wanting to detangle himself. ]
Need to call Al-- [ No. Not Alva. He has Miray, he won't want to be disturbed. Or, rather, he would want to know about this, but Andyr doesn't want him pulled from it. No, he'll be fine. After a pause, he squirms again, insisting on getting down on his own two feet. ] Nevermind. I'm fine, just--

[He’s retracted his suit since he doesn’t want to intimidate anyone with it. Takes only seconds even in his current state – current state being Not So Great. At this point, Tony has gotten used to people’s confusion over who he is. His alternate has been here longer while he’s barely shown up not too long ago. (He also might have felt no need to make an actual announcement on his arrival.) From what he has seen of the other Tony, they look nothing alike.

He’s happy to say he’s younger and taller.

His eyes follow the space dog back to his owner, who looks to be around his 20s. Just a kid and his pets. Optic scanner picks up on the kitten in his pocket.
] Tony Stark. [He answers with mild amusement.] Who’re you?

[personal profile] justchilling 2016-07-10 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Nah, it's cool. Nobody's seeing anything in this anyway. [She dusts herself off, but the fast movement makes the glow from her hand dance in her vision, leaving weird shadows. Looking down, though, lets her catch sight of the dog, and she grins down at him...then notices that same glow glinting through fur.] Man, they got your dog, too? Ain't nothing sacred round here.

[As always, the hurt dog gets more attention than the hurt human.]

You looking for the one that bit you, too?

[The shock was similar for Kaidan. He'd thought about Ash on and off when the Reapers first turned up in the Galaxy and the fight began in earnest, at how she would love to get the chance to fight them, but to actually see her in front of him.

It couldn't be, could it?]

Ash?

Does everywhere count?

[He’s only half-joking. His body aches and his head spins, and his breathing’s still somewhat problematic. But with each step he takes, he can feel the energy slowly seeping its way back in and he can feel the glow of his R.T. node steadily growing brighter again. Extremis is kicking straight into gear, restoring his strength and doing what it can to reboot him on the go. He’ll be as right as rain soon.

Now that he can catch his breath, Tony can give the Bucky a good look and it doesn’t take long for him to differentiate him from the one on his Earth.

Thanks for the help. [He means it.] You’re from the same Earth as the Steve here, right?

Yeah, annoying little buggers. [He looked at his hand at where he had been bitten, then back up at the person who had greeted him, and took a sharp intake of breath. He recognised her - he'd been talking to her not so long ago, before the whole show down with Udina. At least, he recognised her suit, but not the face that was staring back at him. He'd imagined it, who hadn't on the Normandy, but to see her standing here like that?]

[Caving walls and alien jellies – it’s like being in a funhouse san the fun.

From what he can gather, everything strange that’s been going on in the ship for the past few hours has something to do with the asteroid outside. He’s going to have to resolve it as soon as he stops getting stalked by damn floating lanterns.

It’s a little ridiculous how many of them are around. Are they propogating?

He’s managed to evade them for the moment. Now he’s found himself in the rec room. An idle thought crosses his mind when he nears the pool. He’s kind of curious to know the effects water might have on his little fluorescent fans.

—but the thought gets quickly swept aside when he catches thermal signature of somebody else being in the vicinity, specifically within the pool. Usually, that's not a problem. It's a problem when they're not exactly moving or coming up for air. It doesn’t take much longer for him to locate and yank whoever it is out of the water.

Male. Brunet. Eight, circular ports along his spine. Can’t be more than 24-25. Weighs around 214 lbs.

You alright, buddy? [He retracts the Iron Man suit as soon as he lays him on the ground. It's not as much of a comfort for people to see it here as it is back home.]

Kaidan?

[Three years. It's been three years now since they left Kaidan on Virmire with the bomb that killed him. Two years of mourning him and Shepard, only for Shepard to come back and then Tali herself to leave. And Shepard kept coming back, never truly dead or gone. But Kaidan... She'd forgotten quite what he looked like, sounded like. Worse, she hadn't realised she had until now.]

I-- [She beams suddenly, a huge grin all bright eyes and sharp eye teeth, and before he can notice there's tears in her eyes, she's hugging him tightly - and possibly painfully; she's not used to her right arm yet, part made of solid, crystalline glass as it is now.] It's so, so good to see you.

[It's fine. William believes the hurt dog is more important than the hurt human. Besides, he's been bitten by worse things with more teeth. And the glow they cause is probably more deadly.

Dogmeat is also sniffing at her feet. New human!]

Yeah. Got too close to one so it bit me, then my buddy here got defensive and it bit him. I think he can track it down, though. [He pauses a moment.] You know...he could probably track down the one that bit you too.

[ Stiles doesn't know where the feeling comes from. Being watched isn't entirely out of the ordinary when you're becoming increasingly aware of all the supernatural things out there that probably want to eat you, but this is different. This feels more focused in a way that he can't put his finger on.

He takes his steps faster and faster until he's practically running into the cargo bay, panting hard and heart beating. He wants his dad or Scott or anyone, but no one is here and he needs to get out.

Then he sees the hatch and it's like it's the only way out. The only thing that stops him halfway there is that his heart still hasn't calmed down. In fact, it's getting worse and his vision is starting to swim. This feeling, he knows.

He sinks to the ground in an awkward heap, trying to calm the panic attack.

Nice to meet ya, Andyr. Seriously didn't mean nothin' by it. Ain't been in a situation like this before.

[A man that looks like Steve, but with a beard. Well, that's something.]

I'm Gary Unwin, call me Eggsy, yeah? Guess we got off on the wrong foot. Hope ya don't hold it against me.

[He sticks his hand out to shake.]

'Sides, the more we talk, the less you guys look like each other.

[Only Eggsy hasn't spoken to the other Tony Stark whose here, not after the third time of him showing up and not remembering Eggsy. Kinda soured him a bit on the whole situation. At least this guy looked different enough the closer he got, maybe he would only have to introduce himself once.]

Tommy shrugs again, shoving his goggles up into his hair. He raises a brow, eyes narrowed in amusement and curiosity.

"What kind of codename? Are you a superhero?" If not poison, then why Venom. "You're welcome, let's walk and talk. That way if something happens, you've got a doctor nearby."

He hates doctors, all of them, but he knows that they could help in ways that he can't.

Tommy certainly liked to talk. Venom doesn't mind as he's faced his fair share of people who talked a great deal. "I can't say it really hurt." Though the shot they gave him hurt a little.

And then Tommy wanted to know more about his name. He sighs softly. "I'm not a superhero. My name was given to me when I was recruited into the Guild. Why they chose it is still a mystery." He quietly hopes they're going in the right direction as the creatures are keeping their distance and there's little light to be had.

playing with the stars (aft observation deck) .

[ This was something she only imagined happening through artificial means, technological advances with Stark Industries, but never to actually be in space. The sight itself is awe inspiring. While she was normally the type to find words for most any situation, this new sight renders her temporarily speechless. ]

It's beautiful... [ Are the first words she musters before shaking herself out of the state akin to a daze. ] I never expect to see something like this. It's certainly a lot more than New York's skyline.

[ Her smile is the most calm it's been in some while. After all, running a business is no small feat. Perhaps this isn't such a bad change of pace, even if she is concerned about the state of things back home. ]

a madness shared by many (main hall) .

[ The blank feeling of everything resounds deep inside of her. These feelings, these thoughts... it all feels off kilter. Perhaps this is just a side effect of being so new to space? But that edge of paranoia isn't leaving her prone to ask questions. She could swear with every step down the hall she takes there is another following her. Yet every time she looks back, there's only an emptiness.

Despite all her efforts to stay calm, calm is the last thing she feels. What should feel like an open space now becomes something that is almost stifling. But where to go? What to do to find any relief from this feeling? That's the answer she's searching for as she walks further along. The problem is that once she's out of that corridor, things don't ease up. Now that she's inside the main hall, everything feels that much more oppressive. All she can think is that she needs to get out of here. abandon this place. Just as soon as she'd done an about-face, she runs directly into someone.
]

Sorry, I didn't... [ Her words seem rushed and distracted as she tries to focus on this encounter. ]

[ exploring the ship takes a lot of his time. mostly because he keeps drifting back to the observation decks, the garden, a couple of other places, but partially just because it seems to be relatively massive.

he has a lot on his mind lately. maybe that's why he elects to find somewhere he can move without having to approach any of it, somewhere he can let it all settle before he has to wade back into the complicated moray of thoughts and conflictions involved in remaining here when there's so much he knows he has yet to accomplish back in westerley.

but the splashing gets his attention just before he's turned the corner and once he has it becomes obvious what drew him here. the gun helps curb the instinct to rush over to her, but it's still not that simple, not really. it's not entirely the right choice perhaps, but he can crouch nearby, offer her some measure of support.

His gaze drops down to the kitten in his pocket. Banner, huh? The corner of his lips quirks up in mild amusement. Kid names the Hulk after a kitten – or at least he assumes he did. He likes it either way.]

He’s a different version of me. [Important distinction. To him.] I’m from the primary Earth in the multiverse. [Don’t know which Earth his alternate is from, but can’t say he’s a fan or all that eager to meet him. Nothing against the other Tony personally, of course. He doesn’t know the guy. It’s just that normally run-ins with versions of himself never pan out well for anyone.]

Do you need any help? [Getting technical on the multiverse and how it works can wait.] I’m going to try and see if I can get a closer look at the asteroid outside. If you need a light source, [He taps at the repulsor battery in the center of his chest.] I can get you where you need to go first.

So, don’t worry, sentient, living robot from outer space. Iron Man’s got you. Not like he doesn’t have his own swarm to deal with, but he can’t have you toppling over. Don’t think that’ll end well for anyone in the general vicinity. Please, people. Keep on moving.
