It's almost funny. Like, in a really dark way. If it makes the mental picture better, it was a little kid I saw. I thought I was going to be eaten by an ankle biter.

[Or does it make it creepier, hearing that a child had passed on board at least once?]

Things do go wrong, sometimes. They come back with body parts missing or senses failing. Coming back has price. [There's guilt pouring off him in waves, though he tries to keep a neutral expression. People close to him here had paid that price and he blames himself for it.] But sometimes they just don't come back at all. You never know if they'll stay dead or not. Kind of takes the good out of it when you spend weeks waiting to see if you should be mourn or whatever.
