but the splashing gets his attention just before he's turned the corner and once he has it becomes obvious what drew him here. the gun helps curb the instinct to rush over to her, but it's still not that simple, not really. it's not entirely the right choice perhaps, but he can crouch nearby, offer her some measure of support. ]
