[Could she say the world's gone up and not out? That so much is actually the same, but not? That progress gets destroyed when it becomes too expensive, or not expensive enough? That history keeps repeating?]

2177. Detroit's one of the few standing cities in America that retains a middle class. As much as America claims to have one, little can be proven if it is or isn't successful. Their claims of "it exists" seem to suffice. Which is an unfortunate holdover from eternity.

[She shrugs.]

Things always change, things never change.

[Wasn't that why she kept going back to Italy, to San Gimignano? To remind herself that despite everything, humans never really changed?]

If you really want specifics, then I can tell you Detroit has expanded above and below. Sea levels have gone up, Mexico City is nonexistent in smog, New York is inconvenient at best, and lovely England still has a monarch.

[Blah, blah, blah, she did and didn't care for that. What she cared about were the billionaires she could rob blind... or did, before INTERPOL. Now she has to think about what criminals she can steal from to cut them off.]

Oh, I suppose live animals are a rare commodity, if that means anything. The pride and joy of a singular American traveling circus, so I hear.

[Something she's been tasked to look into, for some bizarre reason. Living history? Continual theft of priceless Americana? She had to pretend to care between dealing with the constant therapy of her new arm.]
