This is for the following positions: Navigation, the Tower, Medbay, Defense, the Hold, Sanitation, Ingress work, and the Galley/Mess Hall. If you sign up your character to be a head of department, remember that the Captain and First Mate will be looking at their records and history, which will influence their choices. The sign-ups will be open a short time, and then, the chosen character’s comment will be responded to. OOCly, players have until the next log to work with the HR staff and other players, which can be done through handwaving or threading, to help the crew come up with what job they’ll want.
Ploiatos Guard Sign-Ups:

OKAY COOL. I was worried she was actually going to get in a physical fight with these two immediately lmao
A while ago, Than gave Robin a star map so she could see where the ship is going. Would it update with the new course that these new guys are plotting?
If it's important and helps, then it's essential. So she could keep that job, she'd just have to put in under one of the categories in the middle of the month.
No, they won't. Crew will be encouraged to sleep in their rooms, but the Captain and First Mate would understand if sleeping in the cargo bay is more comfortable.
For job reassignment-- I understand characters can keep their old positions in their free time if they're nonessential. But are all "official" jobs being changed? Or only those that weren't useful to ship function? If a job doesn't fall neatly under one of the new section heads, then what happens to it?
My specific cases would be Rinzler as Transporter Supervisor and the mainframe as Workshift Coordinator. I'm not sure whether the former falls under Navigation or Defense, but either way... it gets reassigned to whoever the new head thinks is best suited? Rinzler gets evaluated and reassigned if he's not efficiently completing it? Or nothing changes because it's still a useful job? The mainframe hasn't actually been on-duty yet, but by the description, he'd be liasoning between different departments rather than working for any one. Who changes up his job, if anyone? Would it need reassigning?
It's just junk they'll be getting rid of. Empty boxes, extra equipment, uncessary things. Personal items can be kept, but if they walk into a barracks and see that someone has a million stuffed pigs, then that's too many. Lmao.
Basically, they want everyone to have their official job so the ship gets to Midway quicker. It's going to be a post in the middle of the month that has the heads, and everyone signs up. We'll link this on the main post. The barracks will have all the other jobs like normal listed.
No, not all official jobs are being changed. If your character has an official job, you'd just sign them up for it again and they'll keep it bc they've done it so long already. Every job will fall under a category, you can pick which one you think is closest.
The new head doesn't pick. The mods oocly decide. The heads just get to help crew if they want to find a new job. Rinzler could keep his job if you wanted him to. Same with the workshift coordinator, that could be listed under Navigation and he would still work with all the departments. It's really not as strict as all that. They just want to help get everyone working.
-Civilian clothes? -Photographs? -Tapes (for personal reference) -DVDs (for entertainment when possible)
I will assume that weapons/tools etc. can be considered essential? And if it's something like the DVDs, can they be placed in the public rec area and be spared?
Those are all good to go! He can keep them! Same with the DVD's. He can put them in the public area, or keep them as personal items. Just toss out the junk.
Okay, one more question (I'll be done soon, I promise):
In the cargo bay, Robin has a small non-spaceworthy ship, and she also has a 30 foot tall slab of stone covered in hieroglyphs. Would either of those be ejected?
Oh, okay, cool! Sorry for the mixup; I took "nonessential jobs can be kept if you feel like it but you'll get a new essential job" to mean "all essential jobs are getting reassigned". This makes a lot more sense, and I'm curious to see how it shakes out.
Out of curiosity, would running the ship on low power have any effect on how long it takes for...say a 7 foot robot to charge up from an outlet? It seems subjective to me, but I wanted to be sure before making assumptions! Especially since Mettaton charges multiple times during the day.
ICly, Narvin would absolutely put himself forward to be head of Defense, even though he's only been here five minutes. OOCly, though, work has been crazy and I don't feel like I have sufficient time to do a good job of RPing a division head, so basically I want to say that Narvin volunteered and was passed over (perhaps because he's only been here five minutes).
Ships won't be be ejected bc they can be used for parts or fixed up so that they can work. The slab can stay under the grounds that it's an important artifact and that it's being transported somewhere to be kept.
