I was about to. I'd had the papers drawn up and everything.

Why didn't you send them? You could have had me served at Sully's place. Even if we weren't there at the time, we would have come back eventually.

I just... I don't know. I got caught up in getting everything set for Yemen, I guess.

I mean, yeah, I could've sent them. But maybe some small part of me was holding out for something. Or maybe we'd keep to being estranged and eventually get around to it down the road.

All that time, I think part of me was hoping we'd find a way to make it work, too. I just couldn't let myself think farther ahead than the next clue to where Drake went.

Sometimes I think back and I think I expected too much from you and our marriage. It shouldn't have been like that. To be so hopeful... Or to think that things would be perfect to the very end...

We both wanted to think it'd be that way. It felt pretty perfect to start. I guess that's why they call it a honeymoon period.

The perfect bliss would have ended eventually. It's just that most newlyweds have their first fight about cleaning the garage or forgetting to put the seat down in the bathroom, I'm pretty sure. Not chasing after 400 year old mysteries.

We're hardly like most newlyweds. Not with our history, anyway, or occupation. I'm actually glad we've never had to fight about that, you putting the seat down.

That would've totally been the straw to break the camel's back. Buh-bye marriage.

I'm going to glue the seat down when we get home, just to be safe. I can learn to aim better when I piss.

Your aim should be pretty top notch, we haven't had any fails yet with you going in. And it's a relatively smaller hole than the toilet bowl.
