It wouldn't be a conscious decision, not like you're thinking. But if I let myself get so wrapped up in it all that I really did lose almost everything that matters, what incentive would I have to do anything else? I'm lucky I came out of Iram alive, much less whatever quest would have followed.

Yeah. I would have. I knew you were coming to the airport, and I was going to say something. But whatever words I'd have cobbled to together wouldn't have said as much as just showing you my ring was back where it belonged.

For me, too. Would've been a lot easier if we'd both been on the same page from the start. But then, I suppose it's not such a bad thing I had to work for it.
