[Player Plot] What Could Have Been
Well that sure was a year long party, wasn't it? WOWEE. Thank goodness that's over, and I'm sure nobody was upset at all about spending a whole year dancing the night away.
Oh wait.
When Elizabeth resurged after the battle with the Caducans, she came back with her ability to open tears. What's a tear, you Bioshock Infinite canonblind folks ask? It's a path to an alternate timeline, essentially (more info in the link, beware spoilers!). Elizabeth lost her ability to do this before she arrived at the Moira, but has been restored with that ability in tact. This is bad news for her, so she's tried to keep it a secret from the rest of the crew (despite her lack of control thanks to fancy Ingress magic and stuff).
But, she's just spent a year not noticing that her very serious boyfriend Ivan has left the Moira, and she apparently didn't think to look for him. So now that it's certain Ivan Vorpatril has left the spaceship, her very tentative control is very compromised (more spoiler warning).
What does this mean for the Moira? Elizabeth, heartbroken and feeling guilty, is going to lock herself away in Ivan's old private quarters, answer no messages, and stay there. Across the ship, slightly alarming holes that look like this are flickering around, and if a character gets close enough to one, it widens like a floor-to-ceiling window and shows them an image of an alternate timeline-- what would have happened if your character, or one of their friends/enemies/etc., had made a different choice somewhere down the line. The images last as long as the character stands there, or until the tear collapses, whichever comes first.
The bulk of the tears will show these alternate timelines, but some also project images of objects or people that could have feasibly arrived on the Moira. Or even images of an unfinished or damaged Moira. The thing these images have in common is that if someone tries to interact with them, they'll find it's nothing more than a projection. Attempting to walk into another timeline, while normally doable when Elizabeth is at her full potential, results in the character walking straight through the image. Trying to grab an object from a tear will probably result in some bruised knuckles.
The tears will be hanging around the Moira for three and a half days, after which either Elizabeth is found and convinced to put a lid on it, or she passes out from exhaustion/lack of food and water. If anybody's interested in facing Final Boss Tear Master (which, let's be real, will probably consist of handing her a hanky and telling her shit happens), I'll have a subheader dedicated to plotting that out!
What kind of alternate universes are possible? Literally anything. If you think it could have happened, go for it. I'm not going to be approving/vetoing any timelines, where these things go is entirely up to you guys! Make them ridiculous, make them heart-wrenching and dramatic, let other people spy on them, there are no rules! Aside from, you know, they can't leave the ship through a tear and nothing can physically come out of one. |Db

Angela will be hanging around one in particular that will show an Overwatch AU where the Swiss HQ wasn't blown up / Jack and Gabriel are still "alive", so it's probably just going to be some boring United Nations meeting or a hearing for war crimes committed and she'll be somber and bittersweet just listening to their voices and being able to see them. If anyone wanted to come chat with her or sit with her, you're more than welcome! She won't be as chipper but she won't mind chatting or explaining things about her world; she'll just be sitting in a window somewhere near it and watching. Maybe with stolen booze she will share or some hot coffee.
