People to act as muscle or defense if necessary. Then he'd work out the benefits of either an "underground railroad", infiltrator slaves that volunteer for sale and commit low scale espionage (meant to make slavery very unprofitable), try to seek out outside alliances with places that might not be so supportive of slavery, or all of the above. He'd also speech at them and give them a hella big morale boost.

He will actively be trying to gather information and motivate the movement (even if he tries to convince himself his morals have fucked off, it makes sense that he wouldn't want the crew sold as slaves again) so it is possible someone might notice him.
