my evil twin, bad weather friend "I know someday I'll meet him, but I don't know where or when."
ABOARD THE MOIRAThe Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a long platform and that the room is filled with a soft cerulean light. It's slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you, and nothing is familiar. Shortly after, you are led out and toward the medbay. Inside this room, you are given a physical scan and offered a contract to sign that states you are now part of the crew of the Moira with a specific job. Any questions you might have would be answered in a straightforward manner as well as an explanation about how the Ingress, the thing that has pulled you onto the Moira, is broken and bringing people here unintentionally. This process also consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health, and afterwards, you are given your MID, a device that is integrated into your hand or wrist with only the slightest pinch. From there, you are guided out of the medbay and to your living quarters. Whether adjusting to space travel has been difficult or not, there is always something to be done. From working to leisure, the Moira offers a multitude of opportunities to get to know your crewmates a bit better. Exploration of the ship is highly encouraged. You may notice a slight change in the artificial gravity every once in awhile; however, more noticeable changes can be found in overall morale of those of the crew.
☄ on your ownThere are plenty of other communal areas on the ship to explore! Pick a place, and see where it takes you. ( These scenarios can be used as in-game canon. ) Every day, the ship gets closer to its destination: the Midway Hub.
Answers as to how to the fix the broken Ingress and send everyone home are sought there. Your captains, both old and new, have been working together peacefully to make the trip a little easier, though events occur that are well outside of their control. After having made the last cargo supply stop at the Mini Colony, the Moira and its crew are on the last stretch of its journey. The Ingress, for the majority of the time, is left off and only turned back on during testing; that's when new crew and other items come through.
It's October on the Moira, and it's been far, far too peaceful..
☄ older and far less kindget clowned when I come aroundOn one of the ship's many stops, a group of sentient, flying whale-type natives were stumbled upon. They were friendly, although unfortunately hunted for a substance they produce, and the crew paid a group of mercenaries to keep these beings safe. Now, early afternoon, red lights begin to flash, and Captain Ira makes an announcement. A gam of a less advanced sub-species of those gentle giants is in the ship's path, and crew are told to make their way to the Observation Deck, Tower, and anywhere else that affords them a view of space. When the beings move closer to the Moira, the captains send out non-explosive decoys that can be remotely operated by the crew—lead these beings away from the ship so that the Moira can safely pass through.
☄ graveyard smashi was working in the lab, late one nightLet's set the scene. It's early in the morning. Those who don't sleep or sleep very little already know what's going on as they've been roped into helping by the Captains. Everyone else wakes to a surprise. Some universes celebrate holidays like Halloween or Samhain, and this one is no different. First Mate Egan's home is known for honoring the dead on October 15th of every year, and after approaching the other Captains, they've decided to celebrate it on the Moira. The observation deck is decorated with candles and lights, music playing in the background.
Small gift boxes are left outside everyone's door; a MID message explains that each crew member is to put something inside and then place them on the observation deck. At the end of the day, each crew takes a random box. A device that alters the gravity around a single object is used to make drinks, food, and gifts and float through the air. Everyone is encouraged to relax and have a good time.
☄ section tunfinished business, that's whatThere are many locations on the ship that are inaccessible, either because they are locked unless crew have clearance or for some an unknown reason. Section T is one of those such areas. Crew are known to get lost in this area, and hear voices, among other things. Having this brought to the Captain's attention, an expedition of sorts ghost hunters in space has been organized, and anyone who wishes to join will be paired up and sent in with their MIDs on alert to track their paths. Not long into the search, it will become clear that something, or someone, is displeased with the large number of people wandering through. Some unlucky crew will stumble across an apparition and those who are luckier won't. It's relatively harmless, and appears to only seek to scare everyone out of Section T.

Badou Nails | DOGS: Bullets and Carnage
[Feeling a charge of Duty and Importance in helping and saving your fellow crewgoer, you're there. Leading these majestic creatures, both awed and frightful of what they can do.
But there's this guy pressed as close to the class as he can be, clucking his tongue and groaning when its clear the whale he's trying to help isn't taking the bait. Also he keeps prodding it??]
I can't tell if this is supposed to be savin' the whales or what. They still do shit with the blubber right?
I don't have a title for this one except whats that rancid smell WHAT WAS THAT SOUND oh no there's something warm traveling down my pantleg
FUCK THIS FUCK THIS FUCK THIS TO INFINITY! WE'RE IN SPACE TO GET AWAY FROM HORRORPORN SHIT LIKE THIS!
[why did he volunteer for this? why is he here? why is anyone here? He probably thought he'd get into the forbidden areas and make some cash.]
I didn't come out here to get a ghost up my asshole! So you'd better get ready to run, fucko.
no subject
[She's less interested in the task of leading the whales away and more just playing, seeing what she can make the decoy do. She rubs at her ear absently, glancing at him sideways.]
I don't think anyone gives that much of a shit 'bout who's doin' what with those things. Only a couple did when we were 'round 'em last time, they just knew how to get loud 'bout it.
no subject
[though he's still half-occupied with messing with this poor majestic and possibly endangered creature, Badou's attention does cut to the girl. Out of the mouths of babes...]
Loud? Whaddya mean? This feels almost like the votin' rate of a major election or something...
no subject
[As long as she's been on the ship, she still hasn't bothered to learn anything about space.]
Loud like, loud. [She raises her voice.] A few folk made enough noise about wantin' to save the whales so the big wigs in charge let 'em at it. Wasn't like all of us were in on it, probably not even most. Some people just know how to make themselves heard.
no subject
[he scoffs because that's the stupidest thing he's ever heard.]
That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard! There are people like that up here? Savin' whales and shit? What a waste of time...and yeah, yeah, I know people got their methods but they sound stupid too.
no subject
[She rolls her eyes, but nods. She knows, she'd found it just as stupid when she's seen it.]
There are a lotta types up here, that damn machine didn't pick people for their brains. Was an awful waste of time, not like we even went back to see if anything really helped. They could killed 'em all when we left and would anybody really know? No. Whole thing was nuts.
no subject
[she isn't helping him help her help solve this]
....We so sure it's the machine that's pickin' em? Is it like an AI? We gotta worry bout this shit turning on us too? [he should probably be thinking 'why am I talking about this with a kid' but truly, truly he remembers what it was like...being a kid with nothing but time and info on his hands] Seems like a big show.
no subject
[She groans, shakes her head with mild disgust.]
Don't think even an AI would be this dumb. This is people kinda stupid, not robot stupid. I'm thinkin' it's the captains settin' it all up but nobody wants to hear it. They gettin' a bunch of free labor and souls to toy with outta that thing stealin' people. Makes them more likely to be the culprit than just a machine.
no subject
[good to establish that hes 6 years old]
Maybe it a virus kinda stupid and we've only got months to live before they start sewin' us together. But are the captains this dumb? They seem like a different kinda stupid.
no subject
[Can't out 6 year old her, she's sticking her tongue out and everything.]
Why would they sew us together? Why would a machine want that? Naw, it's gotta be the captains. They gettin' profit off of it. And yeah, they're that dumb. To stupid to even know how to ration off supplies or keep us from gettin' attacked even when there's a warning. To stupid to keep us from crashin'. Ain't you ever meet people who got power? They're all kinds of stupid.
no subject
[he blows a raspberry at her then so THERE]
Mmmm...but are they actually profiting? Sure, they've got people to boss around, but how're they gonna control all of us? Chips in our heads, alright. But what happens when those things malfunction? Or they ain't around....they've got too many variables: us. The stupid people who have power where I'm from ain't so stupid...just stupid in the way of how they use it.
no subject
[The biggest eyeroll. She's spent a decade with teenage boys, that's nothing.]
They're holdin' our homes over our heads. Our friends, their safety. They got control of the food, the power system, the fuel. Takin' control is just as much suggestin' what ya can do than showin' it off. [They have Kobra here and that's been enough to keep her almost complacent. She can't risk him being sent back to die. She figures other people must be in the same boat.] And who knows? This place is all futuristic. Maybe we'll find out that sleepin' in their beds is drainin' out our souls or somethin' for 'em to eat.
no subject
Cause I just got here. I ain't a goddamn computer, I don't know everything!
Are they even soul suckers? Wouldn't even count on em to be cocksuckers. But you've got a point....shit. Guess we'll see if someone calls their bluff...if its a bluff. Some crazy motherfucker.
no subject
Who knows? Not like anyone's asked, I betcha. Or like they'd tell the truth if they somebody did. Bad guys are always liars. [She shrugs.] If they were doin' the other suckin' they'd be better liked, so naw on that too.
Everythin' here's 'bout as polka dotty as it gets. Just wait till we land someplace and you getta see the shit they put us through.
no subject
But he has to laugh; this little shit. That's awful!]
Only if they suck out our souls at the end of that sucky sucky. Maybe they just need a better kinda incentive, though. Besides owning our asses. Seems to me we gotta put em through some shit.
no subject
Plannin' on startin' shit? [She glances up, interest in her eyes. The place has been quiet for far too long. She's itching for something interesting to happen.]
no subject
[she doesn't seem happy with that answer and she won't be happy with this one but. it is what it is.
he side eyes her now.]
Me? Startin' something? That ain't my style, kid. I'm too hard boiled.
no subject
[She wants to believe that at least.
She gives him a once over and frowns. There went that idea.]
Plannin' on waitin' for someone else to start it then? Here you were talkin' like you had a big game in mind. Guess I ought to know the newcomers ain't got a riot in 'em. You at least gonna join in if someone does?
no subject
[he doesn't wanna believe this, coming from someone so small. But he knows. He remembers.
And he's frowning in turn, a once over in return.]
I got my own game in mind! And it ain't a game, this is life. You're a bloodthirsty one, y'know. If you're so eager, why don't you do something. I'll be here to pick up the pieces and make money, that's for sure.
