That adds another level of difficulty to Rosethorn's spell. She quickly withdraws all her magic from the trip vines around the leader, except for a little to keep them calm. The last thing she needs right now is to repay her unexpected ally with an attack from their own side. The rest of her power, she flings hard into the vines around the other slavers feet as one untangles himself enough to lurch toward her. The vines make a snatch for him as they all surge upward. Rosethorn mutters, "No you don't," one hand going to the knife at her belt. What she intends to do with it if her vines miss their grab is anyone's guess. She only uses that knife for cutting her meat at the dinner table.

Really, she's dividing her attention in too many directions. Rosethorn keeps just enough focus on the room's occupants that she'll notice if someone gets too close to her or any of the captives. She also keeps an ear out for surrender, because she won't continue hurting someone if he gives up.

Her vines are widespread enough now that she can feel where most of her opponents are. Her eyes slide half shut, and a couple of men yelp in pain as she starts vicious thorns sprouting on the vines that are now past knee-height. The walls creak again, and Rosethorn silently tells the vines there to wait. She may well bring the whole building down still, but not until people are out of it. This is hardly a rescue if she buries everyone alive.
