Ingress travel can be disorienting, but there’s no need to worry! All side effects are temporary and lessen with each trip. Your body may experience several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You may have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. You notice that the area you are in is filled with a soft cerulean light and feels slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you. Regardless of your current state, however, the stress of initial Ingress travel forces your body into unconsciousness.

Waking up is another story. Or maybe it isn’t.

You find yourself in a nondescript room; sometimes with others who have found themselves in the same situation, sometimes alone. A medical tech is always present to explain what’s happened before giving you some clothes, a TAB, and a guide that discusses things in further detail. This entire process also consists of a complete work-up of medical history and current health in order to obtain your signature—a specific frequency that will allow them to hone in on exactly where it is you’re from in order to get you back there. You spend your first week on the Ingress Complex while other accommodations and arrangements are made for you.

verrfit

⋆ Verrfit is classified as Exploration Class (EC) and is open to all travelers. Once they have set foot upon the planet, they'll find a sweet scent upon the air nearly overwhelming until their senses adjust. The planet appears to be unsettled, largely devoid of intelligent life, at least above the surface; much of Verrfit is covered in water, but the liquid is sticky, red and has a sugary smell (though anyone who tastes it will discover it has a terribly bitter aftertaste.) Small islets are covered with verdant plant life and gritty beaches; when the sun hits it just right, the sand seems to sparkle. Islets are connected by thin strips of land, but sand bars also make it easier to wade from one to another. Weather is fair, but those who look up into the sky will notice that the sun is distorted, as if a warped pane of glass high above is preventing clarity.

⋆ Those who make it to one of the larger pieces of land will find more greenspace and a natural spring at the top of a hill near the beach. It's easy for anyone to lean in with cupped hands or a container to have a cold drink, but the water has a peculiar effect; for the next hour, anyone who drinks it will feel compelled to speak nothing but the truth. Whether or not they're able to hold back by not speaking at all or are compelled to talk seems to depend on how much they drank and their natural constitution.

⋆ One particular islet is craggier than most others, full of rocks and much less plant life. Those who stumble upon a particularly foreboding cave will find that it is easy to explore, requiring only a little hunching from the tallest, and leads to a passage that leads down into the earth. Perhaps it's the breeze coming through that sounds like whispers and voices from afar? Or maybe it's a property of the stone around them that reaches into their very minds, calling forth images and eventually, if they linger, mild hallucinations of whatever it is they fear. Whatever it is, it's certainly spooky.

ingress:

[Waking up on the Ingress Complex filled her with the biggest sense of deja-vu. It took time for it to come back to her, her mind as fuzzy as it was from the Ingress, but eventually the memories began to creep through the fog: she was back.

Sort of, anyway. It didn't take her long to realize this wasn't the same place she had left. At first she wondered if maybe she had just fallen asleep again, thrown into cryo like so many times before, but she was assured by the personnel that she had only just arrived. Between what she was able to drag out of the technician and the information packet she received, she was able to start to piece together the timetable of events.

She remembered the Midway Hub -- she remembered the bodies, the awful smell, and most importantly, the Savrii and their promise for a way home.

And apparently she did go home.

Now her befuddled mind was racing, trying to take it all in. Even if it was familiar, that didn't change the fact that it happened all over again and she had to readjust. Not that she was going to let that slow her down. All she could think about was all of the friends she had made in her time here. Were any of them still here? Were they okay?

Still a bit dazed and ignoring the protests of the technician for her to wait until her body finished acclimating, Peggy grabbed her TAB and proceeded to exit Medbay. She knew the drill, but the woman was as stubborn as ever. She may have still been woozy but she had more important things to do: find her friends and find out what the bloody hell happened since she left.]

[One hand braced on the nearest wall and pulling his sunglasses off his face to see if that would help with the blindness, and-- no. No, it did not. Nor the ringing in his head and Dick groans.]

Dude, can I just go to school today? I don't want to stay home.

[Gingerly, he reaches a hand out in front of him--]

Sorry to whoever's foot I'm about to step on. Hope the shoes aren't too expensive; promise I can pay you back, depending on how close we are to Gotham.

[Some might consider her inability to simply continue on like nothing happened a weakness, but Peggy didn't hesitate for a second when the young boy appeared, clearly struggling as she was, though not coping quite as well.

She was at his side in moments, grabbing his hand to steady him (even if she wasn't very graceful in the moment herself), a soft smile creeping on her face. He may not be able to see it, but it comes through in her posh accent.]

Trust me, these old things have seen much worse. Though we're a long way from anywhere called Gotham, I'm afraid. [she hated to be the bearer of bad news, but he was going to find out one way or another.]

[It's the accent that makes him relax a little, oddly enough. When your very English butler is practically your mom, it sounds homey.]

I was afraid of that. [Not that he spends much time in space, but y'know.]

I guess the progress on Outgress is a mess.

[She has to fight back a smirk at his pun. Even as tough of a situation as this was, he was still trying to make light of things. She knew he would have to truly face it eventually, but everyone coped in their own manner.]

A mess hardly seems to cover it, but I won't bore you with a history lesson. [And anyway, she hadn't been here in ...well, she wasn't even sure how long it had been. Things might have changed a lot since she left.]

[ working maintenance more or less means that by default you don't really see a whole lot of interesting things. every now and then he gets to direct a woozy newcomer down the hallway, or help a lost explorer find their way to the nearest elevator, but more often than not he's just checking on systems that are performing as indicated and within parameters and didn't really need looking in on except for where they might have.

he likes learning as much as he can about the ingress in general though, which keeps things interesting enough. usually there's not much to learn at his level, but occasionally, just often enough, he might catch something here and there.

it hasn't... really happened yet, but it might! that's the important part.

or hey, today might be another one of those days where he helps a woozy newcomer down the hallway.
] Woah, hey, I think you're going the wrong way. [ uh. ] Ma'am. [ something about her seems less like an absolute stranger than everyone else usually is, but he has no idea why that's the case. regardless: ] You're trying to get somewhere?

[There's something familiar about the young man that comes to her aid, though her fuzzy mind won't quite come to the realization. She studies his face for a moment, then considers his question.]

I- I'm not entirely sure, to be completely honest. [That would imply she knew somewhere to get to. She was still just trying to figure out what had happened from the time she remembered last.

It was as she trying to decide how best to proceed that it clicked in her mind where she knew it.]

The colony festival that changed people. You helped me back to the Moira. [It felt so...distant of a memory, but she knew it couldn't have been too long. He hadn't changed from what she rememberd (assuming he was human and aged at a normal pace), but her past time here was still just foggy enough that she couldn't be completely sure.]

I'm sorry. I swear I've been here before, but not - well, here.
