February Test Drive Meme
Multiversal travel can be disorienting, but there’s no need to worry! All side effects are temporary and lessen with each trip. Your body may experience several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You may have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer dizziness while others are perfectly fine. You notice that the area you are in is filled with a soft cerulean light and feels slightly humid and dark despite the glow around you. Regardless of your current state, however, the stress of transit forces your body into unconsciousness. Waking up is another story. Or maybe it isn’t. You find yourself in a nondescript room; sometimes with others who have found themselves in the same situation, sometimes alone. Welcome to Avagi Station, your new home. New arrivals are, of course, welcome to explore the various locations around the station. Additionally everyone is provided with a communicator in case they want to pose any questions to the population already residing on Avagi. |
Moon 900CA1 |
Like every city has a junkyard, this universe is littered with (mostly) uninhabited planets or moons that are being used for the same purpose. Welcome to one of the many universal "dump sites" of the galaxy. Moon 900CA1 is one of many, a celestial body belonging to the planet of Ploria, and as this area of the universe is technologically advanced in comparison to others, so is a majority of the junk left here. There is a haze encompassing this moon and breathing masks are needed for anyone who decides to visit the surface. Every inch of ground is covered in debris, various spacecrafts, and machines. Some of it is piled higher than one can see over if standing at the bottom. spare parts: What’s even better than having to trade precious goods or services for the equipment that the station so desperately needs? Getting them for free. Well, free with the added ingredient of elbow-grease. Stocking up spare parts is a must when traveling the universe. This planet is brimming with discarded ships, machines, vehicles, and all manners of "outdated" technology. You’ve been given a list of things to keep an eye out for while you’re out shopping but feel free to pick up something for yourself. After all, one species’ trash might be your coolest thing ever. build-a-thing: While it’s clear that most of the visitors here are scavenging or looting, there are a very small number of booths scattered throughout where vendors have set up shop. Is there something you need or want? New jet-propulsion space shoes? A small flying craft? A robot? These vendors will use scrap parts that you’ve found and brought to them, for a small fee of course, to build it for you. Be sure to bring the best parts that you can because you’ll only get the highest quality that you’ve provided. trash junkies:: Such large stacks of trash are bound to shift and move over time, it’s simply a natural part of this moon’s gravity fluctuations, but why is it that the movements are perfectly in sync with every step you take? You move, the debris moves. You stop, the junk stills. If you choose to investigate, or get too close too quickly, you’ll discover that you aren’t alone in your scavenging. Creatures, varying anywhere between a foot to over ten feet tall, dive and sort through the debris. They are diligent in their searches and shy away from organic contact of any kind. If you have anything that they deem of value in your hands, they’ll wait until your back is turned and then try to take it from you. On the plus side, they don't seem too dangerous? moon tomb: Those who choose not to wear a breathing mask will notice a horrible and overwhelming scent wafting gently on the wind. It’s a scent that is familiar, but you can’t quite place it. At first. The ACE devices coordinate with your respiratory functions, and a small notice will flash across the screen: High concentration of decomposing organic material. Some will know what this means and head back to the portals immediately. Those who don’t, or are too curious, will follow their ACEs to areas with much higher concentration levels and stumble across an equally common occurrence on these kind of disposal planets: bodies, of varying species, discarded for one reason or another. There are thousands of them spread out among the refuse, and the further you explore, the longer your ACE warns of exposure to elements of disease. Now might be the time to turn back... |

If he really can't be sure, she'll make it crystal clear for him. Her skin ripples, blue scales running up her body until she's unmistakable. It's Raven. In all her glory.]
no subject
Raven!
[ He wants to run over to her, hug her, but he knows better than to try something like that when she's annoyed with him. ]
When did you get here? There... there's a young woman here. Charlie. She looks just like you, I thought you were her. She was you.
It's really you. [ He finishes, exhaling and smiling softly. ]
no subject
I've only been here a couple days. You must have been here longer, I'm assuming.
[If that reaction is anything to go by. He looks like he's about to have a mental break down.] It is really me. [She'll have to address the thought of having a doppelganger later. For now her attentions are on how relieved he seems to be. Like he hasn't seen her in ages when it's been hardly a month for her.]
no subject
[ It wasn't that long, relatively. He hadn't seen her in over a decade before that. But they parted on much better terms this time. Not that it was difficult to do so. The bullet-shaped scar on the side of his neck was testament to that particular adieu. He shakes his head slightly, trying to recover his footing. ]
Logan and Charles were here when I arrived but they've both left some weeks ago. I've been... trying. With the children. I don't really have the right knack for it. And then the demon and flooding and the life support failure. Mother. [ He stops himself. ] Not my mother. Just some... creature they call "Mother". [ He rubs the back of his neck. ]Quite a lot has happened.
Raven, I have a son. And a daughter, apparently. They're alive.

[The rest of his words are a tumult of swirling sentiment in her own gut. Much of the rest of it doesn't make any sense, but she's sure it will all start to eventually the longer she's here. Her yellow eyes grow noticeable wider at the mention of his children but that's the only emotion she allows to show. She's always been good at seeming like so much didn't really effect her, but for her eyes. She's never perfected the eyes.]
[She already knew he had a son, one he was at the time unaware of... but a daughter too?] It does sound like a lot has happened...
[And he's been alone without either her or Charles to keep him grounded. Perhaps these children were helping. But from the look of him, she's not so sure.]
I didn't think our lives could get much more complicated. It seems the universe wanted to prove me wrong.
no subject
[ There is a Wanda Maximoff here, though explaining why she isn't a mutant and isn't his daughter is too complicated for the moment. Better to ease into things. He picks up the chair and comes around the table because this set up is awkward. He sits next to her and turns his chair to face her, his elbow on the table. ]
It's not the universe. It's the Savrii. They built this station and brought us here. [ He waves his hand because that is not nearly a satisfying explanation and he knows it, but the full story is very long. ] They have technology the likes of which I've never encountered, and I can't figure out how to send us back. The Savrii themselves are gone, as far as we've been able to determine. So we're here for the time being, at least.
[ Some of the tension he's been carrying in his shoulders for the past four months eases. ] I know it's selfish but I am very glad to see you.
no subject
[Raven listens, taking what he says at far more face value than what everyone else has been telling her. Never one to trust freely. But he's earned that trust, despite everything.] So the Savrii are dead, but their technology is still bringing people here. Wonderful. [She'd really wanted to be able to find someone alive to blame here. Especially after seeing Kurt. Kurt who'd been here a year already.]
[She scoffs at his sentiment, but there's feeling there. She loves you Erik, but sometimes you're too much.] You always did love to drag me along into your problems. [Perhaps that's not fair, they've been past this already. But she's irritated with everything and it shows. It's nothing to do with him and everything to do with this space station.]
no subject
[ Erik shrugs at her assessment of the Savrii. ] It's possible they are extinct. We haven't been able to determine what happened to them. What we do know is that they built Avagi, the space station we're living on. Some of the residents have been here for years, and apparently they used to interact with them. There was some kind of confrontation with this creature they call Mother. She's incredibly powerful, and an enemy of the Savrii. The residents were sent some three hundred years in the future and the station is just barely functional now. I didn't get here until just after that confrontation. Mostly we've been dealing with trying to keep the station from falling apart.
[ He glances at the storm and frowns. That doesn't help, of course. Though he doesn't fixate on it, and looks back to her with a look that almost bashful. ]
Well, you know how it is. I make a phenomenal cockup of everything, you come along to clean it up? [ He pats her hand. And then leaves it there, his thumb stroking across her wrist. ] It's just... difficult to find somebody to talk to. After Charles left the only other mutants were the children. I can't really go to them for counsel. Finding a place among the humans has been... trying.
no subject
That is usually the way of it, yes. But I'm not sure how I can fix this. [She gestures around them. What does she know about space travel? Jack shit is what.]
[Her eyes land on his hand, the thumb brushing along scales. There's an all too familiar shiver up her spine at his touch that she can no more help than breathing.] Who all is here? You keep saying 'the children'. So that means more than Peter. And Kurt. [She's trying her best not the reveal anything in her expression then. Nothing to see here, Erik. Move along.]
no subject
[ He flashes a wry smile. ]
Peter's not here anymore. He left earlier this month. Shepard told me that they were able to conduct some tests earlier, and when we leave here we go right back to where we were. Which is fortunate. I was in the middle of a rather delicate operation and I don't know if I would be able to establish the necessary contacts to attempt it again.
[ He holds onto this information tightly. Without it he would have gone mad with grief. ]
Right now there is Kurt. [ Definitely not acknowledging anything about that. ] Wanda, Pietro, and Rogue. There's also Charlie, but as far as I can tell she's not from our world. With her history and her abilities, though, she fits in. And another young girl who goes by the name Eleven that I believe is another mutant, but I haven't had the opportunity to talk to her, yet.
no subject
The Charlie that looks like me. [Her blonde me, anyway.] You've started quite the collection, Erik. Trying to start your own school?
no subject
[ He shakes his head. ]
Charles started the school and Clara's been running it in his absence.
[ He shifts his weight. Explaining Clara is going to be... complicated. Probably. Maybe he could just let nature take its course on that one. ]
I'm the eldest and most experienced so they look to me, I suppose. It's... not the most comfortable position to be in, all things considered.
[ For so many reasons, both large and small. Not least of which the jealousy that grips him in his weaker moments. Why them? Why not her? And other such things that the children themselves are not at all at fault for. ]
no subject
Yes, I can imagine that might make you uncomfortable. But you're so old, Erik. And 'wise', how could they not come to you? [Raven winks at him, her laugh a husky thing, more like a bark. She doesn't ask about Clara when the name comes up. There's been many names thrown about, she'll have to work out who all of them are eventually but not at this very moment. She's no reason to think Clara is anything but a teacher.]
no subject
Just because it's true doesn't mean you have to say it. We aren't all so blessed as you, my dear.
[ Acting on impulse, he lifts her hand to his lips and kisses her knuckles before letting go. ]
If they come to me it's because they have no other choice. It's been difficult. Particularly with Rogue. Apparently I--[ He stops as he remembers some more of what Rogue said ] we attacked her. In 2001 or so. I think it may have been from the other timeline.
no subject
[He can be so sweet, but just as the story he's telling her now, cruel. With her help, it seems.] I met her. When I arrived... I thought there was something odd about her, an unspoken hostility.
no subject
Charles saw him for who he could be. Raven saw him for who he really was. ]
Yes. [ He draws the word out, some of his weariness over the situation creeping into his tone. ] I've been going by "Erik" with the other mutants. The humans call me Magneto. She only knew me as an old man. It took her some time to put the pieces together and when she did she was... upset.
[ More like heartbroken. The hatred and shame in her eyes was unlike anything he had ever seen. The raw emotions of youth. ]
no subject
no subject
[ He feels very weary. The thought of what she said still makes him sick. But he will tell Raven what he knows, even if he can't quite meet her eye. ]
She said that I touched her, forced my memories on her. And then something else where she died. Logan was able to save her. It's just... difficult to imagine why I would have done this to an adolescent. Why you would have helped me.

The fact of the matter is even if what we did to her never happens, we still have that potential within us. And I don't know how to tell that we won't. What happened to her is twenty years in our future.

[ Shaw was a monster. A madman. He had no cause but his own power, no limits to what he would do to acquire more. The result of a life unchecked by personal consequences for any of his actions.
What child could be that bad? ]
I didn't apologize to her when she confronted me. Whatever happened to her, it's not something I did. But I didn't try to tell her that it didn't happen. I can't deny her that truth.
no subject
What about the others here? The non-mutants. What do you think of them? [She's always find it hard to trust anyone not like them. Raven keeps everyone at a distance, but non-mutants she avoided nearly entirely aside from when necessary.]
no subject
They're... interesting. I find the aliens and the robots more tolerable than the humans. In general. Most of the humans come from worlds with no mutants. [ He lifts his hand to indicate he's not done talking, lest she leap to conclusions. ] As in, there never were any. Not that they were all wiped out. Their reaction to us has been largely... tolerant.
no subject
I suppose tolerant is better than we're used to. [It's better than having them try to kill them or experiment on them.] How do you think they will handle me in my true form? There are aliens here, so perhaps they wouldn't give me a second look.
