Hello Savrites!

This month, so far, has been all about relaxation and fun, winding down after some strenuous events. After a few weeks on the floating tourist resort known as the Collectives, the Moira has returned to its journey towards the planet that is home to the creators of the Ingress. As life is wont to do, mistakes that were made in the past and often forgotten, come back around to haunt us.

In November, the Moira docked on Caducus Primary for a routine supply gathering trip; they received this transmission prior to docking. This planet appeared average from afar but upon further inspection revealed to be comprised of the most crystalline glass. Tall buildings swayed in the breeze and intricate glass sculptures lined each street, making this planet stand out. The glass, however, seemed to hold the ability to show each person a flash or vision of their past or future self. Midway through gathering supplies, the Moirans were greeted with a very unhappy message from a representative accusing the crew and its captains of theft. They then asked the Moira to leave and never return.

The captains knew that gathering supplies was more important than any ire over false accusations and stayed to continue loading cargo. Not long after, Caducus Primary decided that their patience had been tested enough and that the crew had overstayed their welcome. They forcibly attempted to remove the crew from their planet. One crew member was triggered, and the green beast shattered the glass. The Caducus Primary's on-planet Ingress was damaged, splintering the planet, and many lives were lost. The crew of the Moira assisted in evacuation and rescue efforts, detaining the altered crew member, but inevitably, they could do nothing but stand idle and watch as the planet crumbled.

The reverberations of Caducus Primary's destruction could be felt ship-wide. The crew was devastated - as were the captains - for their actions and inaction cost millions of people their lives.

Now, months later, the older crew have begun to put it behind them and some of the newer crew members might not have heard of these events. Unfortunately for all Moirans, the survivors of Caducus Primary, whom were shuttled to Caducus Secondary, decided that some sort of justice had to be obtained for their loss. Unbeknownst to the crew, a ship has been tailing the Moira since not long after those events, waiting for the most opportune moment to attack. As is the Caducan people’s way, they wait until the Moira is far from anywhere that an incursion could cause damage to innocent people and will announce their intentions.

At the end of the month they will attempt to board the Moira and make equal what was upturned months ago.

The crew and captains must work together to make sure that nobody gets hurt and that the ship isn’t damaged. The crew have been split randomly into three groups, Negotiation, Offense, and Defense. Each group must come up with a plan that centers around those three categories, and on June 29th, whichever plan is deemed most appropriate will be enacted on. ICly, the captains will choose which plan that will result in the least loss of life, and the results of the group effort and teamwork will be shown in the beginning of the month log.

Now is the time to plot and plan and work together to find the best possible solution. The three groups have been RNG’d and listed below and crew aren’t allowed to switch to other teams. We’ve also made three comments for characters to assign a team leader, which needs to be chosen before the event log goes up on the 20th. Each group can plot together to decide on a person, or players can respond to the comment and we’ll RNG a team leader. This person will be responsible for giving us a short sum up of the group’s plan after the event is over. Good luck!

Important Dates:

June 20th - Event Log
June 29th - Team Leader Submits Plan
July 1st - Beginning of the Month Log

EDIT:

Hey again everyone! It seems I made this post a little confusing, so let me try to help with that a little.

On the 20th, a log will go up that basically says the survivors of C-Primary are here and they are going to attack at the beginning of next month. The type of people they are means that they don't sneak attack and they are giving the Moira time to prepare, which is pretty generous considering everything. From now until the 20th, players are plotting for what they will want to thread (everyone can thread their characters discussing stuff or make network posts or whatever they want).

And what everyone is plotting for is to create a strategy that is specific to the team they were assigned. For example, everyone on the negotiation team is creating a strategy for what to do if that team's plan is chosen. A plan is something like, this character will go alone to negotiate, this small group will go, we will meet the survivors here to discuss this, we will stay on the Moira and send a video, or some combination of those. An example of an offensive strategy would be, let's turn all our weapons on them and just shoot or lets sneak onto their ship and kill them all or something else. A defensive strategy could be lets turn up all the shields, max out the boosters and jet the flip out of there or baton down the hatches, it's going to get bumpy. Any plan that the crew thinks would work.

On the 29th, the team leaders gather up what the plan is (and players can decide everything OOCly or thread some or whatever they like) and us mods will throw up a small post that shows what each team's strategy is. Players will have a short time to vote and whichever plan was voted ICly to be the best plan and the most likely that most crew would survive, is what will happen on the beginning of the month log.

This is largely a strategy and team work event. Players come together to decide what their characters would suggest to do and work up a plan that is most likely to save as many people as possible. They can be elaborate plans or short plans, it really depends on what each team does. For those that are on teams they don't agree with, that's to promote good discussion between crew members and so that a team can have at least one voice saying, no that won't work, so that a better plan can be formed.

I hope this clarifies a few things. Sorry for the confusion!

Team Leaders:

Negotiation Team Leader - Clara Oswald
Defense Team Leader - Miles Vorkosigan
Offense Team Leader - Commander Shepard

BATTLE PLAN!!!

[personal profile] squadgoals 2016-06-17 01:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Alright so. Shep knows what happened from writeups and talks, and they're not exactly attacking without reason. With that in mind, she'd definitely want to go no kill. If negotiations don't work, best thing to do? Keep batting them back until they're willing to sit down again. While minimizing damage to the C-prime folks is a priority, crewmembers should absolutely come first. If it's between breaking a C-prime leg and saving another offense team member, it's going to be an easy choice.

With that under advisement, I present to you: Battle Plan Alpha! Thus called because it's super subject to change and we can just go through all the greek letters okok. It focuses on scaring them, subduing them, and if all else fails, detaining them. Terror, knock down, knock out. Additionally, since they seem to have some sort of future-viewing-power, the team's attacks have got to be unpredictable — think about tackling them, but actually pull out some judo, or just flip over them and push them down. Whatever you've got in terms of crazy powers, use them! As long as they don't cut, stab, or otherwise rend/penetrate flesh, including instakills, it's all good!

STEP 1 — SCARE:
First, we try and scare the shit out of them. Got illusion magic? Create something horrifying. Got fire/ice/lightening/gravity/dog powers? Create a tornado of puppies, a mighty lightening bolt at their feet. Got facepaint, or make-up? Create a terrifying visage — TEAM SCARY MONSTER SKELETONS GO. Got an 80s disco dance track? Pump up the bass. You get the idea. Wear crazy clothes, costumes, anything to really freak them out. They met us before, so they know what we're supposed to look like. This might throw them for a loop, even if they see us putting on the outfits with futurevision. Get them outta dodge!

STEP 2 — SUBDUE:
So some of them didn't stop when they saw Charlie literally breathing fire or actual skeletons walking around. Fine. Next, we knock them down! We told you we were hardcore, why didn't they listen? This step is all about holding them in place without chance of advancement on our squad. Got a sick judo move? Break it out. Can you trap them in place with gravity or psychic power, or stick their feet to the ground with varietal magicks? Hit that up. What if you just buried them in hams? Who knows, I won't judge. This step could use a quick lesson in hand to hand combat — never has knowing how to flip a dude twice your side been so handy dandy.

STEP 3 — DETAIN:
Finally, the knockout punch — we're looking for disabling them into unconsciousness, but WITHOUT DEATH. Looking at you, Pushing them back is fine, but with this step, we're looking for your "the pokemon fainted!" moves, rather than just a harsh wind. Pistol whip, CQC, psychic blast, rain of rocks, school of hard knocks... whatever it takes to get them down without death. Do they have delicate zones? Maybe shoot a beanbag at a delicate zone. Or a fist. Gas grenades with knockout gas? Let's make a few. No matter what, get them on the ground, blacked out, and bind them with rope if it looks like they're going to come to. The less the defense team has to worry about dudes sneakin' in, the better.

Above all else, WATCH EACH OTHER'S BACKS! This isn't a game — if everyone's wiped out, who resurges? But it won't come to that, because we're the best, baddest, bossest, coolest, and also NICEST CREW THERE IS. We screwed up with the planet, but that's something to be covered at the negotiations table, not here. Here, we keep in formation, maintain cool heads, and support each other every step of the way. And also nobody dies and nobody gets killed if at all possible okok.

In the eternal words of Ms. Frizzle, "Take chances, make mistakes, DO NOT KILL ANYONE"

OFFENSE TEAM DO THE THING YEAH!!!

I LIKE THE CUT OF YOUR JIB

Snake doesn't have any crazy powers, but he has a gun that shoots tranq rounds and boy oh boy does he know how to use it!! He can also teach basic hand-to-hand moves if anyone needs to know how to quickly subdue someone. his dad might be the expert at that but shush

Basically he will support the mindset of not wanting to kill these people, but also put the Moira crew first if it comes down to it... and he'd probably suggest bringing in some of the subdued C-prime people for negotiations if necessary, but would insist that any prisoners be treated decently. no torture or interrogations, pls

LET'S DO THIS

ETA: also!! snake will be arguing for the stealth method, although he realizes that expecting most of the crew to be subtle in any way is probably wishful thinking... all the same, he'll be curious about how these future-seeing powers work and will volunteer to test them out. if someone sees him coming even when he's sneaking, it probably means something supernatural is going on. :|

Make up

This is all great!!!

Btw J will be offering help if your character needs assistance with making scary make ups/face paintings/masks. Time to put her position as Moira's official makeup artist into a good use.

Charlie will flat out not be roasting people. Throwing fire at their feet, sure as fuck. But trying to not murder people will be a Thing she's going for.

Unless one really does try to kill her then she makes no promises that people will have their eyebrows when they get too close. She will also be using TK to hold doors shut if she has to give people time.

WHAT IS NOT KILLING PEOPLE I DON'T UNDERSTAND.

Anyway, Hawke can do lots of things but most of her ability to scare the enemy and subdue them are arcane powers which require a lot of contact with the Fade so that is... hard to keep up.

Otherwise she can heal and create barriers but THATS SO BORING... DON'T MAKE HER DO THAT.

Sam really belongs on team defense tbh

Totally down with step 3. Any areas with a single door - like the hold, the galley, etc - can become temporary holding pens. Sam can use the nearest available camera to see where and how many are in each particular area. Maybe MID's could be used to communicate?

ETA; Actually Jack Sparrow on Team Defense had a good idea? If the folks boarding the Moira know what you're going to do before you do it, the idea of using a hologram or projection of Bruce would probably only work once. After that it would be down to use of some sort of steam or something to obscure vision, maybe cutting the lights idk, and people would have to actually go in and physically stun them.

I can only see getting away with, like, electrified floor paneling to stun if someone herds invaders somewhere it might work, but that would be doubtful.

ETA #2 Meant to add that this would definitely be a matter of "divide and conquer" since Sam would be focused on getting any invaders into smaller groups via using elevators, hallways and non-essential areas.

The question then becomes where would he be? I was thinking he may need to ask Cortana for help "keeping an eye: on Bruce if that's what the C--primes are looking for. Otherwise somewhere with one door that he's locked.

Loki is 100% up for Step 1 & 2, especially because his illusions can disguise entire rooms and get foreign invaders lost in a ship they don't even know their way around. Which paves the way for anyone wanting to do step two because loki can make it so they know what are his illusions and what isn't.

Also a trained fighter so subduing people is kind of his jam. Also he is up for the most ridiculous way of suduing people since the less violent they are with them the less likely they are to return to the ship for Round 2: Vendetta-Chan.

ICly he'd add to Shep's plan stating that crew definitely comes first, whoever can't or doesn't want to fight needs to be somewhere away from the action. They've got rooms out the wazoo so there should be somewhere to hold up.

As for step 3 Loki will encourage deadly force as needed especially when it comes to handing over Bruce Banner. That's a no go. Being Asgardian, he isn't so into surrender and never will be. Doesn't matter what Bruce/Hulk did giving up a crew member will decrease crew morale and thus lead to more skirmishes on board which means the terrorists win.

But Loki will back Shep and will also be telling everyone how stupid they are for thinking of handing over A GIANT RAGE MONSTER TO THE PEOPLE TRYING TO MURDER US ALL.

Niko got suped up with some higher damage absorbtion/reflex stuff so he can at least be helpful in hand to hand. He's a very blunt figher anyway. Screw the dancy stuff he'll just knock someone the fuck out and dodge 'em.

His big bonus in a fight is that he's a disorienting berzerker rage monster. He yells a lot and tornadoes. This will be worse than usual because he'll be in a very bad "FUCK OFF!" mood.
vengeance_driven: game (►►talking by docks)

additional note

[personal profile] vengeance_driven 2016-06-17 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Niko is strongly STRONGLY going to suggest that they try to send someone in to disable the ship's engines and then the Moira can just make a run for it.

Vision is 100% on board with this no killing policy.

Count in him for Step 2 and 3. He can turn incredibly dense or phase through anything so he's very good at stopping people from advancing without breaking a sweat

Cold is best at step 2 & 3, and he'll even reluctantly go along with no-killing if he has to. (He did kinda make an agreement with someone back home about that...) He won't hesitate to freeze someone's ass to the bulkhead, though, if things get really rough. Life or death situation? He's gonna save himself and anyone around him, thanks.

I'M NOT SURE WHAT'S GOING ON BUT IF THIS IS STILL A THING: Med'an can freeze people (without damaging them) as well as polymorph them into sheep (without damaging them, though I imagine its not super fun to experience). He also has all the regular fancy-looking fire/ice/glowy magic spells, and can make thunder and lighting appear out of nowhere if that's what you're into.

He can also turn invisible I guess??
