Hello Savrites!
This month, so far, has been all about relaxation and fun, winding down after some strenuous events. After a few weeks on the floating tourist resort known as the Collectives, the Moira has returned to its journey towards the planet that is home to the creators of the Ingress. As life is wont to do, mistakes that were made in the past and often forgotten, come back around to haunt us.
In November, the Moira docked on Caducus Primary for a routine supply gathering trip; they received this transmission prior to docking. This planet appeared average from afar but upon further inspection revealed to be comprised of the most crystalline glass. Tall buildings swayed in the breeze and intricate glass sculptures lined each street, making this planet stand out. The glass, however, seemed to hold the ability to show each person a flash or vision of their past or future self. Midway through gathering supplies, the Moirans were greeted with a very unhappy message from a representative accusing the crew and its captains of theft. They then asked the Moira to leave and never return.
The captains knew that gathering supplies was more important than any ire over false accusations and stayed to continue loading cargo. Not long after, Caducus Primary decided that their patience had been tested enough and that the crew had overstayed their welcome. They forcibly attempted to remove the crew from their planet. One crew member was triggered, and the green beast shattered the glass. The Caducus Primary's on-planet Ingress was damaged, splintering the planet, and many lives were lost. The crew of the Moira assisted in evacuation and rescue efforts, detaining the altered crew member, but inevitably, they could do nothing but stand idle and watch as the planet crumbled.
The reverberations of Caducus Primary's destruction could be felt ship-wide. The crew was devastated - as were the captains - for their actions and inaction cost millions of people their lives.
Now, months later, the older crew have begun to put it behind them and some of the newer crew members might not have heard of these events. Unfortunately for all Moirans, the survivors of Caducus Primary, whom were shuttled to Caducus Secondary, decided that some sort of justice had to be obtained for their loss. Unbeknownst to the crew, a ship has been tailing the Moira since not long after those events, waiting for the most opportune moment to attack. As is the Caducan people’s way, they wait until the Moira is far from anywhere that an incursion could cause damage to innocent people and will announce their intentions.
At the end of the month they will attempt to board the Moira and make equal what was upturned months ago.
The crew and captains must work together to make sure that nobody gets hurt and that the ship isn’t damaged. The crew have been split randomly into three groups, Negotiation, Offense, and Defense. Each group must come up with a plan that centers around those three categories, and on June 29th, whichever plan is deemed most appropriate will be enacted on. ICly, the captains will choose which plan that will result in the least loss of life, and the results of the group effort and teamwork will be shown in the beginning of the month log.
Now is the time to plot and plan and work together to find the best possible solution. The three groups have been RNG’d and listed below and crew aren’t allowed to switch to other teams. We’ve also made three comments for characters to assign a team leader, which needs to be chosen before the event log goes up on the 20th. Each group can plot together to decide on a person, or players can respond to the comment and we’ll RNG a team leader. This person will be responsible for giving us a short sum up of the group’s plan after the event is over. Good luck!
Important Dates:
June 20th - Event Log June 29th - Team Leader Submits Plan July 1st - Beginning of the Month Log
EDIT:
Hey again everyone! It seems I made this post a little confusing, so let me try to help with that a little.
On the 20th, a log will go up that basically says the survivors of C-Primary are here and they are going to attack at the beginning of next month. The type of people they are means that they don't sneak attack and they are giving the Moira time to prepare, which is pretty generous considering everything. From now until the 20th, players are plotting for what they will want to thread (everyone can thread their characters discussing stuff or make network posts or whatever they want).
And what everyone is plotting for is to create a strategy that is specific to the team they were assigned. For example, everyone on the negotiation team is creating a strategy for what to do if that team's plan is chosen. A plan is something like, this character will go alone to negotiate, this small group will go, we will meet the survivors here to discuss this, we will stay on the Moira and send a video, or some combination of those. An example of an offensive strategy would be, let's turn all our weapons on them and just shoot or lets sneak onto their ship and kill them all or something else. A defensive strategy could be lets turn up all the shields, max out the boosters and jet the flip out of there or baton down the hatches, it's going to get bumpy. Any plan that the crew thinks would work.
On the 29th, the team leaders gather up what the plan is (and players can decide everything OOCly or thread some or whatever they like) and us mods will throw up a small post that shows what each team's strategy is. Players will have a short time to vote and whichever plan was voted ICly to be the best plan and the most likely that most crew would survive, is what will happen on the beginning of the month log.
This is largely a strategy and team work event. Players come together to decide what their characters would suggest to do and work up a plan that is most likely to save as many people as possible. They can be elaborate plans or short plans, it really depends on what each team does. For those that are on teams they don't agree with, that's to promote good discussion between crew members and so that a team can have at least one voice saying, no that won't work, so that a better plan can be formed.
I hope this clarifies a few things. Sorry for the confusion!

I'm content with Peridot being on defense team (probably what she would have gone with if she could pick anyway) but this would be good to know for IC interactions, particularly with characters who may have been placed in an area that's kind of outside their sphere of experience.

If they voice dissent about the team, the captains will tell them they need to work together. They won't let them switch teams because they really want everyone to try.
If a character is on a team they wouldn't have chosen, it's to add a little bit of variety to the mix. If everyone on the team is of the same mindset, then new and better plans won't be formed. Every good plan needs a different perspective in order to make it a great plan.

So. Um. If it would be safe to assume/handwave that if peridot pestered at least one of the captain's and got this answer... How would they react to her bellowing about how, in the midst of an emergency crisis, structuring things in such an odd way just to do an exercise in cooperation (as she would interpret it) is uh, not the most logical idea, in her opinion? Like she'd probably tell it to their faces and then try to stir shit on the network because she tends to act out when things aren't functioning as ~logically~ as she thinks they should be, and that reasoning doesn't make much sense to her :'T
Basically it'd be like. Mmmmmaaaajor vocal insubordination.

She can be as vocal as she wants, but they won't agree with her. The captains, for all their mistakes and the misjudgments the crew have made about them, do believe that crew can really come up with something successful if they think outside the box, stop being selfish, and work together. The captains are firm in this, because the crew has gotten out of control and the situation calls for serious action.

In that case she's probably going to stubbornly.... not participate in the group she's assigned to and just focus on like. Sticking her nose around different areas of the ship, and try encourage coordination with other crew members who work in those areas to make sure the ship's equipment and such is up to snuff, if she can get away with that. Because she totally agrees that teamwork is necessary here, but she also firmly does not believe the methods that the captains are using to make that happen make any sense. Spending 9 days coming up with three different plans that they're all ultimately only going to use one of does not seem like a reasonable allocation of the crew's talents and resources to her. She has some canon history of pulling shit like this, like how she became disenchanted with the leader she was LITERALLY made to serve, because that leader turned out to care more about settling old scores than she did about taking what was the objectively practical and beneficial course of action.
(thank you for putting up with this line of inquiry I'M SORRY MY CHARACTER IS SUCH A STUBBORN LITTLE LOUDMOUTH :'| )
Captain's Note
To win any fight, the three most necessary things to know are: (1) that you are going to have to fight, (2) who your enemy is, and (3) what weapons or strategies can defeat them. You cannot win a fight (1) if you simply sew peace banners on a battlefield and act like nothing is happening, (2) if you fight small battles against your allies, or (3) if you use the wrong weapons.
The captains think that the crew 'together' is the right weapon. Look at what everyone can do separately and imagine what they can do if they work together. What if neither of these three plans could work separately? What if the crew thought of something better?
Crew get to vote for the best plan, and the captains said they would pick the one that is the best as well. But what if the best plan is something else? Something the crew created together and suggested on a united front?
just to get the juices flowing
