Potential science bro/nerdy genius here. Alan's a computer programmer with a keen interest in artificial intelligence and, uh, also the accidental creator of a couple such AI himself OTL Being a computer programmer, he can also probably introduce Spock to the wonderful world of coffee and staying up late debugging bc i can sleep when the program runs, okay?

Show him the ways of coffee and staying up late (though he probably has experienced some of the staying up late, living on a ship and all). One of Spock's fields of science is computer programming, so they can talk about that - and artificial intelligence is def a thing Spock has had run-ins with, and they can debate what exactly makes it AI.
