Hello Savrites!

We had originally intended this to be a normal mod update type of post, but we decided to do a State of The Game update instead. Mostly to let you know what's going on, where we're going, and where we'd like to end up.

First, let's talk about apps! As per the calendar, applications will be opening up again on October 16th. We have changed some of the rules regarding apps to (hopefully) make it easier on both new and old players as well as the mods. They are reflected on the individual pages, but here is a summary:
☄ A reserve is now required for all applications.
☄ There will be an application cap.
☄ Any current player who officially drops may re-app a new character at any time, but only once every 2 months.

The application cap will be set to 15 applications for new players and 15 applications for current players. This means we will have a total of 30 app slots open during October. Whichever slots are not filled will then be opened as a "free for all" on the last day of the cycle (October 22nd).

Two Page Updates: Mini Games & Jobs

TIMELINE:

October - Mini Colony * see info below
November - Ship Month
December - Midway Hub
January - Midway Hub
February - Arc II Thisavrou

Plot Specific Sign Ups Are Now Closed

In October the ship will be touching down on the Runoff's Mini Colony. This is a mecha of trade and commerce, which is something we want to do a little bit of world building with. There are three sections below that players should participate in. The first is a sign up for location specific plot; take a look at the linked map and respond with your character's name and the corresponding number. Once all the numbers have been taken, we'll double them over for anyone else that signs up. The second section is to 'create a business'; in this section players can build a business and then NPC it during the event. The third is suggest something that occurs on the mini colony; you list it and if it fits, we'll approve it. All of this stuff will be built into the event logs when they come up. We'd really like our players' input.

If anyone has questions about the upcoming event(s), Arc II, or anything else, let us know below. Thank you all for being amazing players.

Character: Adam Jensen
Number: 14

Horror/sci-fi if a mix is ok, otherwise just horror is cool!

Seeing how Adam's more of a "stare broodily out his window with a glass of scotch" sort of guy – and that he just spent an unwilling year on Bug Island – there's pretty much no chance that he's going to jump at the opportunity to get thrown in an artificial wilderness for a couple of days. Not on its own merits, anyway.

He will, however, inquire about their setup because hey, he's still curious! Mostly asking about what sort of "game" they're hunting, what kind of clients they normally get, where this retreat is located, who runs this operation, and so on. He keeps things mostly conversational, but – if this is something that the colony has context for – he's got the unmistakable look and demeanor of a cop. A former one, in this case (but once you walk the walk, you can't unlearn it!)

Wishy-washy answers ("why don't you sign up and find out?") or anything that might suggest there's something more to this than just knifing a couple of deer in the woods would prompt him to try his CASIE mod on the attendant, and see if he can't wheedle/charm more substantive information out of her.

Haha, the CASIE isn't a weapon in the conventional sense! Just a cranial implant that helps him out in social situations with info overlaid on his HUD – provides a brief psychological profile of the person it's analyzing, and has a secondary functionality that uses chemical influencers to aid in persuasion. Pheromones and stuff. Video game science, just roll with it. :')

He won't be aggressive unless he has reason to believe that that'll get him the answers he's looking for (i.e. if his brain computer tells him that she buckles easily under pressure.) But there's also precedence for people in his canon being able to tell when someone is trying to use a CASIE mod to manipulate them and, as you can imagine, it's pretty much never something that people are happy about. Since the attendant's not human (or necessarily even human-like) it's possible that it just won't work well on her – either giving him bad advice on how to handle the conversation, or maybe she'll react badly to the chemical influencers if he uses those, etc.

So could come back down to these choices in the end, just let me know if this info changes anything!

Also: probably just horror/sci-fi elements, no need to go super-ham, Hostel levels of horror or anything. Sci-fi mostly because technology is something that he is familiar with or will generally have an opinion about. If it gets this guy to experience An Emotion, then it is a success!!

Can't a guy have a conversation with a sketchy travel agent and use questionable tech on her without getting shot, gosh!!

Anyway – okey! Because it's not Adam Jensen if his bad choices don't have repercussions for other people too, "innocent" bystander Isha Devan ([personal profile] diamondhack) will get roped into his bullshit before he probably succumbs to whatever effects the dart has. All those health-related implants can only do so much.

And he probably thinks to himself that this is not the worst thing he's ever woken up to.

What sort of survival situation is it - like jungle, forest, snow, etc.? And what sort of opposition/numbers can they run into on the hunting side (or possibly the survival side, if they stumble onto others?)

What will they find if they specifically search around for some sort of control area or administrative area (since they're kind of assuming that a structure this big requires manpower and probably computer/machine power to regulate?) Would probably start by looking for an edge of the stadium and follow until they find something interesting. After dealing with enough bullshit, I think the overall goal will be for the three of them (Jensen, Isha, and eventually Hawke who is also on the survival side) to shut the operation down as completely as they're able to.
