Hello Savrites!

We had originally intended this to be a normal mod update type of post, but we decided to do a State of The Game update instead. Mostly to let you know what's going on, where we're going, and where we'd like to end up.

First, let's talk about apps! As per the calendar, applications will be opening up again on October 16th. We have changed some of the rules regarding apps to (hopefully) make it easier on both new and old players as well as the mods. They are reflected on the individual pages, but here is a summary:

☄ A reserve is now required for all applications.
☄ There will be an application cap.
☄ Any current player who officially drops may re-app a new character at any time, but only once every 2 months.

The application cap will be set to 15 applications for new players and 15 applications for current players. This means we will have a total of 30 app slots open during October. Whichever slots are not filled will then be opened as a "free for all" on the last day of the cycle (October 22nd).

Plot Specific Sign Ups Are Now Closed

In October the ship will be touching down on the Runoff's Mini Colony. This is a mecha of trade and commerce, which is something we want to do a little bit of world building with. There are three sections below that players should participate in. The first is a sign up for location specific plot; take a look at the linked map and respond with your character's name and the corresponding number. Once all the numbers have been taken, we'll double them over for anyone else that signs up. The second section is to 'create a business'; in this section players can build a business and then NPC it during the event. The third is suggest something that occurs on the mini colony; you list it and if it fits, we'll approve it. All of this stuff will be built into the event logs when they come up. We'd really like our players' input.

If anyone has questions about the upcoming event(s), Arc II, or anything else, let us know below. Thank you all for being amazing players.

Liquid's definitely going to go for it, just for the hell of it. The idea of the prize is definitely a factor, but the game seems interesting enough and he's used to being on teams. It'll be a healthy outlet to get rid of some anger after that whole debacle on the last place. And everything else. He can never stop being an angry man.

ANYWAY how much of a blood bowl are we talking here? are there constant casualties, or just a dead guy every so often?

☄ The first game, Liquid will sit on the bench the first half and watch how the team works before being allowed to join. There is a causality during that half, but none for the rest. The second game, Liquid will find that he's become a fan favorite and will play the entire game - no casualties. The third and forth game, Liquid will grow in popularity, and will notice that there are banners with his name and face on them in the crowds. Three of Liquid's team will be causalities for those games. During the night before the championship, Liquid will notice that his face and name is everywhere through out the mini-colony. He's a favorite. Giant billboards and projections. He's everywhere and people stop him to offer him gifts and congratulations everywhere he goes. That same night, a woman stops him and tells him she's a fan, asking him to go home with her. Will he go?

Well shit, there goes his ego, floating off into the sky. He's enjoying both the game and the positive attention, for sure.

He won't pretend he isn't tempted by the offer (well shit, he's got groupies), but considering it's the night before the championship, he should probably not push his luck too much. Besides, he has his suspicions. With great ego comes great paranoia, after all. He'll turn her down politely and give her autographs and stuff if she wants that, and tell her maybe things'll be different after the event. Maybe.

☄ The woman's expression will get tight, but she'll shrug and tell him that she'll look for him after the event. As he turns away to leave her, she'll come at him from behind, enveloping him in a swirl of smoke. Will he try to keep the smoke from his eyes and mouth? Will he attempt to run?

His first instinct is definitely to fight, rather than try a tactical retreat, so while he's been utterly caught off guard by it, he'll try to use his coat to block the smoke from getting into his mouth and nose while he tries to get his bearings and attack in retaliation, squinting in the hopes of still being able to see.

It's hard to take a swing at someone when you can't see very well and you're also busy trying to protect your lungs, but he'll definitely be trying.

☄ The smoke will get into his eyes, blinding him, but not into his mouth. The woman will use this as an opportunity to hit him hard over the head. She'll then restrain him and put him into the back of a vehicle. As she leaves him completely alone to drive, he'll have about ten minutes to do whatever he can with; she didn't check him for any weapons and tied his hands in the front.

Well, isn't this great. He'll be pretty dazed to start with, but he'll get control of the situation (as much as he can) within a few minutes. While he hadn't been carrying a gun (not a very good decision, clearly), he's always got a knife or three on him and once he maneuvers himself out of the restraints (about five minutes in), he'll be climbing over what he can (depending on the kind of vehicle) in the hopes of attacking her with the knife. This is probably not a good idea while someone is driving, but he is pissed.

☄ The knife hits her in the shoulder and she swerves the vehicle, hitting a nearby building and crashing hard. The woman will be dazed, briefly, before passing out. The same smoke will begin to fill the vehicle, darker and thicker this time.

Liquid's fine with the crash and everything, since it's not going to be difficult to escape if she's distracted. Unfortunately, he did lose his balance a little in the crash, and while he'll be making the biggest effort he can to get himself out of a door, the smoke's going to be too much for him to actually make it and he can only block so much with his coat.

Hopefully he won't die!

☄ The smoke will get into his eyes and mouth, and when he wakes, the woman and car will both be gone. Liquid will be laying inside a room on a soft bed, a blanket tucked around him. A younger woman he's never seen stands at the foot and she askes if he's okay.

Liquid won't answer at first, taking in his surroundings. When he does answer, he certainly doesn't sound happy about things. "Well, I'm alive at least." Sometimes that's the best you can do, apparently. "Where the hell am I?" There's an essence of threat to the words as he tries to sit up.

☄ The woman will explain to him where she found him and how she'd recognized the person that had left, so she'd taken Liquid to her home until he was well enough to travel on his own. She'll tell him that his kidnapper is a species of organics that produces a type of 'smoke' that can alter certain other species bodies. When he's rested, he can go. Two things will happen at this point. Liquid will have inhaled only enough smoke that he'll cough for a few days, or too much and his body will be altered. At first, the change will occur at random times, but he can practice and learn to control it. Liquid's entire body will turn to smoke, which he can thin out so it's less visible and move through any space smoke can fit through, and with more practice, he can change back to himself quickly. If he doesn't like the changes, he can ask Curre to help him find a way to change back.

Can't not go with the alteration. Liquid's not going to believe it until the first time he actually changes, and then he's going to be a little pissed off to start with. It's going to seem like an annoyance at first, but once Liquid figures out he can actually practice with it and learn to change at will, he'll probably keep it.

Either way, he's going to insist he's rested up practically immediately because he does not want to hang out in some random person's room.

Will the change affect things like his MID and his clothes as well?

And what happened with the tournament? Did it go on and everyone got mad the cool famous player wasn't there? IS THERE STILL TIME TO MAKE IT TO THE BIG GAME??

☄ If he practices, the change can alter the state of things he's wearing and holding.

You can have him make it to the game, or have him miss it. Whichever way suits you better. Don't forget he would have received a huge reward if he won the championship.

Nice. He can creep around all smokily and not have to be naked.

He is so going to make it to the big game. What kind of reward does the championship give out? If they encourage the violence and everything, I'm guessing they might not discourage anything that could be considered 'cheating,' so maybe his newfound abilty might get him out of a tight, potentially murderous spot.

They can make a movie about it, in the future, and everyone will cry.

☄ They definitely wouldn't discourage cheating, lmao. So use your smokey gifts my son. The reward, since it's such a risk to play at all, is substantial. It usually comes in the form of some huge and expensive piece of property or a ship, but the winner can ask for credit instead.

Somewhere, casting has already begun.

Hell yes, smoky cheating (even if it's not actually on purpose). He'll be going for the credit, then. Since they'll be leaving eventually, property's useless, and he doesn't need a full-sized ship. So a shopping spree it is!

someday, across the universe, he will see it and complain about the casting choices.
