Hey, Savrites!

We have a lot going on. I mean a lot. If you have questions, no matter what they might be, please ask them on this post. We know stuff is happening this month, but if we all help each other, it'll be a smooth process.

General Housekeeping: Over the last few days, the character tags on all the comms have been edited to add in new and remove old. If for any reason yours is messed up or missing, comment to tag post below. We've also removed journal access for those no longer in the game, so if you were accidentally taken off, please add back and we apologize for that. After the AC check is over, we will be doing an update of anyone that hasn't responded to taken/ooc/etc, so please do that if you haven't.

A Summary of Arc One:

  • During the first wave of arrivals, the ship docks at a planet that has an addictive substance called Exuo — crew went through mood swings, heightened aggression, and fits of paranoia. Natives attempted to kidnap and sacrifice everyone.
  • A solar storm caused a power blip, and strange masks were found in every mailbox that gave them unusual abilities.
  • They reached Caducus Primary, a planet largely comprised of glass. The representative of CP accused the crew and captains of theft; however, they didn’t leave fast enough, and a skirmish caused damage to their Ingress, which ended with Caducus Primary cracking and being destroyed.
  • The power fluctuates and temperatures drop. One of the captains, Tipota, is found dead. This is the introduction of Ploiatos, who ended up being one of the original crew members affected by the power of the Ingress.
  • The Moira docks at Emiri, which was comprised of three main cities where the culture was influenced heavily by finding one’s soulmate. The company responsible for this, Link’d Inc, is incredibly popular throughout the universe. However, hints of forced unions, kidnapping, and slavery are investigated by the crew after an attack on all of the cities by a rebel group. The planet becomes locked down. Benjamin Link joins the crew and helps them escape.
  • Another month passes, and crew dock on Ceta. It is known for it’s unusual atmosphere and its living beings AKA sentient flying whales. They were hunted for valuable organic resources, and eventually, the crew decided to hire mercenaries from outlying planets to protect them from further death.
  • Soon after, the Moira stops at an abandoned prison station called Del Pascia with a resident AI (D-E-L) who was “irritated and snippy” but did not keep crew from exploring and taking items. D-E-L tried to persuade crew to stay, and when it became clear no one wanted to, D-E-L tried to infect them as she had infected those who’d remained behind in the prison. Everyone fought and escaped.
  • Amissis-Re is an unregistered planet that had no signs of life — the crew’s next stop. Here, they meet a “host” who had done the impossible and “fixed” the Ingress. However, she only reversed the energy of the Ingress, which created melted worlds and made it incredibly dangerous to discern reality from the time inside these worlds. The host gifts some of the crew with journals after she decides to go through the Ingress and remain there.
  • The Moira begins to malfunction, and those of Caducus Secondary, along with survivors of Caducus Primary, hunt the ship and those inside it for revenge. Negotiations started while crew tried to set up defenses aboard. Due to prior issues, the Ingress shuts off, resulting in the melding of Caducun glass with the ship and everyone aboard. When the Ingress finally stabilizes, the Moira is now in a different universe: the Runoff.
  • Some members of the crew are found on a slavery outpost in the Runoff, and others make a stealthy rescue effort to bring them back to the Moira. First Mate Egan and Captain Ira appear through the Ingress, explaining that they are the original members of the Moira designated to pilot the ship. The old captains hand over authority to them as the ship drifts into the Luminous Sea.
  • The ship crashes into one of the moons within the Luminous Sea where crew find a group of natives who are overly friendly. They beckon them to stay with food, drink, and much more. Unbeknownst to those who stay with them, an entire year passes. Eventually, what is wrong with the Moira is patched so they can leave.
  • After months of hard travel, the crew explore the wonders of the Mini Colony. A closed ceremony held on the MC caused crew to change in ways they’d never experienced before. Yet, during the festivities, someone triggered the “fear machine”, and crew suffered from phobias once back on the ship.
  • Those working on the Ingress pick up a signature for the Midway Hub and begin to make preparations to go there. The new species Ploiatos has become is named Mirtis (meer-tees); some of the crew kill him before things get too out of control again as they had in the previous months. The Ingress is then turned on, and the ship falls into a time slip.
  • The Moira crashes on the Midway Hub.
  • Captain Ira draws a map and encourages crew to split up and travel to the Inner Gate of the Midway Hub. Once inside the Outer Gate, crew experience de-powering — a safety protocol of those who’d worked on the Hub. Exploration and survival are a key focus during this time. They move through a network of caves to find the entrance to the Inner Gate.
  • After a brief respite, crew learn that the entrances to Gate A and Gate B are inside one of the caves. Groups are split, TABS are synced, and crew explore carefully until an entrance is found. Crew discover Gate A first, and all crew are contacted to gather there. The captains remain at the cave entrance until all crew are accounted for, and then, they enter through the gate together.

  • Please Read Through The Log For This Month - it is over here. There's a big reveal happening there.

    Introducing Arc Two:

We know this post is really big, but we want to give everyone enough time to gear up for the second Arc (which starts at the end of this month). On January 10th starting around 8 pm EST we will be hosting an OOC Arc II chat. During this chat a few things will happen.
  • It will be held through plurk. After it's over we will post a pastebin of the chat on the OOC comm.
  • You will get a ‘welcome guide’ which is an IC document that new arrivals are given. This has all sorts of good information and links.
  • We will be revealing some of the location information and asking for your help with the bestiary. We’ve always been fond of help from the players when it comes to world building, so we’d really love your input where the bestiary is concerned.
  • Though the comms will be remaining the same, all the pages will be changed at the end of the month.
  • What will be different/new in Arc II: Premise/Setting, the FAQ, Reserves, Applications, Jobs, Housing, Clearance levels, Activity, Permits, and Currency.
  • During this chat we will touch on some of the new things, but not all of it so that there is still some surprises when Arc II rolls out.
  • How we are doing plots will change and focus on our players ideas. During the chat, ask us about that and come with your suggestions ready.

A note from your mods: We wanted to tell you all that you have been an absolute delight. We never expected to have such enthusiastic and sweet players in our game, who are constantly trying to make the game better and who create a friendly atmosphere to new and potential players. We hope that everything we've working so hard on is something that you will enjoy and have fun being a part of. Thank you all so much!

If the Activity page is changing, is that also including basic AC requirements? (And if so, is that going to be a drastic change we need to be aware of early-on/plan for?)

i wasn't sure if it said anything anywhere yet or not, but how long do the people who came through the ingress recently suffer with the disfigurements/age up or down/weakened bodies?

    gross forensic question

    [personal profile] ryuuzaki 2017-01-04 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
For pointless detectiving on the carnage (pointless, because later in the log, they're going to find out what caused this anyway): if somebody is pretty experienced, what will they conclude as the cause/causes of death and the length of time since it happened?

(e.g. blasts and blades?, have the bodies been dead too long to be able to say how long without significant testing?, was the rate of decomposition affected by the sealing off?, are insects of any kind involved or is the decomposition all microbial?, are there species other than human/humanoid that might decay differently?, does anything within the complex affect the decomposition rate?, etc.)

Apologies if I come back with further unrelated questions; this is just the first one that came to mind.

    SUPER GROSS, warning continues!

    PLOT QUESTIONS

Will the violent deaths mostly look like brutal shootings or that something more feral attacked them?

Can the Savrii answer what happened at the settlements in the surrounding area? Or if the Ingress with the slime tumor was another experimental Ingress / an example of an upset balance?

Are there mostly workers or were there any civilian family members?

Will they say there are chances for returning home?

    OOC QUESTION

So I guess that means they're not Moirans anymore, right?

diplomatic/plot continuity questions about the Savrii

    [personal profile] ryuuzaki 2017-01-04 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
    ... Like this one.

Some questions about the Savrii. I'm assuming that the conversation with them is probably going to be mostly handwaved as having taken place rather than something that will be played out.

If they were asked about The Creators, are they them? if not, do they know of them? (It's implied here that they might be but it's something some characters would want to nail down, if they were allowed to.)

Were the people at the Hub beholden to them in some way, like for the tech or etc. (i.e. would it be reasonable to conclude that that they're the name covered by the audio distortion here? This seems implied, but the way I'm reading this, it's just vague enough that they could also be self-appointed Ingress police and not necessarily its original creators per se -- just the people who wound up with the originals as some kind of legacy later on. It's more far-fetched, but man, IDK what's going on in this galaxy!)

For characters who have their weapons fused with a limb, how would the detachment happen? Would it leave scarring? Or is this entirely up to the player? c:

For floor 2 and all the dead bodies and such, will there be any specific weapons they'd find among the bodies, if there are any left? Gun? Swords? Strange alien weapons?

One question about Floor 2, if I might ask here. Undertaker intends to explore this one, but there was mention of the air being something one would want to avoid. Is there a poison to be concerned about, or does it just stink to all hell and back?

    Kind of a logistics question.

How long, ICly should characters be in the Hub? OOC I think this log covers the month of January but from an IC perspective what would it be for the characters? The same length of time?

If yes, where would characters be expect to sleep/eat/bath? Is it okay to have them go back to where they've been holding camp near the settlements or would the captains want to be keeping everybody together within the Inner Gate? If they do stay within the Inner Gate, would a new 'base camp' be set up that then allows for exploring the different floors?
