Survival is the exception "living is an act of courage." THROUGH THE INGRESS The Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a rocky planet. Former crew of the Moira are there to greet you, and it’s a grim message they have to share. The Moira has crashed and is beyond repair, but there’s good news... the destination the crew has been heading towards for over a year? You’re standing on it. But before you get into exploration and survival, it’s best to deal with the effects of coming through a broken Ingress. ☄ slip and trip find your footing fast Coming through the Ingress has left your character with one of three changes - an age slip, a form of body horror, or an extreme weakness. The first, the age slip, will mean that the character is either older or younger and this change can’t be rectified during their first month in game. The second, body horror, comes in the form of an alteration to the character's body due to whatever they were carrying at the time they came through. If they were wearing a watch, it’s now fused to their wrist, clothes are permanent, knifes replace fingers, and many other alterations (anything goes) and it lasts the first month as well. The third, extreme weakness, can be a mental or physical decrease - weaker arms, legs, or the weaker ability to talk or do math. ooc: the choice of change is up to each player and this prompt can be game canon. ☄ introductions aren’t awkward as long as you don’t shake their hand too long A new planet. Physical and mental changes. Talk of a ship that crashed and a Hub that is home to the ‘creators’ of a technology you’ve never heard of. A lot is happening and the best way to sort through it is by getting to know the Moira’s crew. They’ll help you settle in and get you any care you might need, all the while informing you that the group is on its way to the center of the hub. Something that might seem mundane is an absolute necessity for survival. Ask a seasoned space traveling veteran for answers and guidance. ooc: this prompt can be game canon. ☄ dealer's choice just make the right one Characters have the option of coming through an Ingress that is any possible location on this planet. It can be inside a cave, at the top of a rock formation, etc. This means you can have your character have to climb or slide down, have them yelling for help, and have other characters see them and come to their aid. Your character's arrival is completely up to you, and since this is a unique situation that hasn't happened before, go nuts with it! ooc: this prompt can be game canon. [ So. This is pretty damn bad.

Stephen finds himself in a cave suddenly and he doesn't have anything that could help him get to that opening that is most definitely several feet up. No Cloak, no Eye of Agamotto, and, worst of all, no sling ring. He is so screwed. Looking back up at the opening, he mutters to himself, ]

Wong is going to kill me.

[ Maybe he could try climbing up it himself... He positions himself and closes his eyes, taking in a deep breath, reminding himself to concentrate. Don't panic. That won't do you any good. And he's been in tight spots before. He still has his magic. That's something. He can work with that. Yes.

His eyes snap open and Strange moves his hands, casting a spell for both hands, the glowing circles engulfing them. He approaches the wall of the cave and tests his weapons. They let out a ting like they are made of metal, chipping off some small pebbles. Okay. Good. He takes in a breath, lean back and hurls one circle into the rockface. He does the same with the other but a bit higher. Using the circles like they were pickaxes, he starts to slowly climb up.

But just because the spell works, it doesn't mean it's easy. He's trying to navigate in the dark with only the light from the circles to go by. There's a little more illumination as he gets further up but not by much. His foot slips and he yells out. ]

Shit!

[ The spell starts to flicker a bit and his heart jumps into his throat, ]

No, no. Don't!

[ He seriously does not want to fall. Not from this height. ]

[ Once he's out of the cave and around the crew - or that's what they call themselves - Stephen tries to focus on what he's got to work with. He's still in deep shit without any way to actually get back to his world but panicking, again, won't help. So, hands on his hips, still dressed in his blue tunic and boots from the sanctum, he breathes out a laugh, trying to act like none of this is actually phasing him. ]

So, anyone seen a xenomorph? Ever run into the Nostromo while you were out there? No?

[ Does a gesture to the sky, wiggling his fingers and everything. Stephen, you're not funny. ]

[ Lando had also suddenly appeared in the cave, albeit up a little higher, so when this man starts slipping in his climb, Lando's there to hold out a hand for him to grab. ]

Hold on! I've got you!

[ Stephen nearly drops at being startled like that but he reaches and grabs the offered hand, gripping it as tight as he's able. The other glowing circle still embedded into the rockface. ]

You know, you should warn people before just appearing out of nowhere.

[ Pot, meet kettle. ]

[ Lando firms his footing, holding tight as he starts to pull the man up onto the ledge where he stands. ]

Suppose next time I'll just let you fall, then?

[ As he's pulled up, he dislodges the other hand and the spell disappears do he can use his actual hand to help grab onto the ledge he's being pulled up to.

He grunts out, ]

That escalated quickly.

[ Just shut up and accept the help, Stephen. ]

Tony turns to squint at Strange as various people are milling about, the poor taste in pop culture references catching his attention, because goddamn if everyone else around here isn't uncultured swine. ]

Actually, yes.

[ He answers with such dead-eyed resignation that it is nothing but believable. (The answer is no, of course, but when literal science fiction characters from his childhood are waltzing among them, it's not like it's too far off.) ]

But that's not why Stephen doesn't offer his hand in return. He doesn't really like anyone touching his hands nowadays. ]

I'm familiar with the multiverse, Mr. Stark. And I can assure you it does a lot worse than this.

[And then just as he is perhaps starting to fall, he stops, as if upheld by some unseen force. A few feet above him, at the edge of cave opening, is a young woman. She is dressed in simple jeans and a shirt but she holds a staff in one of her hands made of wood with a rune on the top. It is undeniably something magical. Though perhaps not the same time of magic he was just using to get out of the cave.

Hawke peers down at him, clearly exerting effort preventing him from falling but doing her best to appear as though she isn't, and raises an eyebrow.]

You probably should finish climbing out. This isn't going to hold for long. Unless you're really into saving yourself at the last minute for dramatic effect.

[ He looks down and then up at the voice. Squinting up at her and her staff he just gives a nod, ]

Sometimes -- but this isn't one of those times.

[ But he does as she says, casting his spell again and exerting even more effort this time to get out of the cave. He's out of breath and sweaty by the time he makes it out. As he pushes himself back onto his feet, ]

Thank you.

[ He points to the staff, ]

Magic staff?

[She doesn't look much better. The simple spell is enough to make her rest her hands on her knees and require a few steadying breathes. At his question, she shakes her head and rights herself].

Not at all. The rune enchantment helps improve mana output but it's just an object to improve focus. I'm the magical one.

[potentialed]

[ Huh. That... huh. ]

So, you use it to channel magical energy?

[ Like their relics. Just without the "mana" and "runes". ]

[He's lucky he's loud enough to get Wanda's attention. Wisps of (possibly familiar) scarlet surround him, slowly lifting him up to the ledge.]

Are you all right?

[ He barely notices the wisps at once, trying so hard to focus on keeping his spell going. But once he does, his first instinct is to struggle against it. ]

What the hell --

[ But then he's being lifted out of the cave and... sees a young woman. The glowing red coming from her hands. She can use magic, too. He stares for a moment before remembering she asked him a question. Shaking himself some, he nods, ]

Yeah, yeah. Thanks to you.

[ A beat. She looks so familiar... ]

You can use magic.

[Lifting a person is always a little scary. Wanda can toss cars around like they weigh nothing, but a person's life is much heavier. And the last thing she wants to do is accidentally hurt someone.]

Some people call it that. It's hard to explain.

[She isn't Billy, who can do almost anything, but strange things have been happening with her powers since she arrived here. Like that time she landed on the ocean's surface and didn't need her powers to stay afloat.]

[ He raises his hands and moves them around to cast a glowing shield in front of him. He then snaps his fingers, causing it to pulse before bursting into golden flecks. ]

Try me.

[ Stephen, stop showing off. ]

[It would be easier to start explaining if she knew they were from the same world (and Stephen might get the kind of reaction he wants), but as usual when someone asks, Wanda just shrugs. She's become used to seeing displays of magical power in her time on the Moira.]

No one at home understands it.

[ And Elena's more than willing to sit down and listen. It'll give her a break from running around medbay to pick up any loose ends for latecomers. ]
