Our final log—for Arc 3 and the game—has been posted in the comm. This space is for details, questions, and explanation of the choice characters face at the conclusion.
Mother As noted in the log, Mother has multiple forms and faces that will need to be defeated in order to reach Avagi's core. In order to allow for later threading, players are free to assume eventual victory—but the methods and cost of overcoming Mother may vary strongly depending on the characters' approach. We encourage creative problem-solving in addition to more combative techniques, and welcome questions below in that regard.
The thread for battling her avatars will go active on April 7. This will be a final chance for NPC interaction, and may also offer some degree of metaplot info, depending on the characters' actions.
The Living Energy The Living Energy behind the Ingress has played a crucial role in the game since its inception—and more than a few hints have been dropped along the way. Still, even the newest of characters will find plenty of evidence towards its significance. Tamen's story offers some history regarding its role in Thisavrou's beginnings, and an examination of the systems at Avagi's heart offers proof of how the Savrii meant it to be used. The Living Energy is both what powers the Ingress and what connects its travelers across a multitude of worlds. More, as their recent efforts prove, it can in some way balance or oppose the storms—if not stably enough, in its current form, to keep from shaking the station to pieces.
But as characters have glimpsed over their time in Avagi, the Living Energy isn't merely a fuel source. It has a voice (or voices), and strong investment in the individuals it's brought to this place—enough to bring them back, from travels or from death. The intent of the Living Energy might be unclear, but the power bound to this place does have a will of its own—enough, perhaps, to qualify as its own being. Which begs the question: what would it do if it were freed?
That question—and that choice—is now yours to determine. Once Mother's opposition is removed and the systems at Avagi's heart examined, the player characters will face a choice: rebuild the Ingress into a functional machine they know can take them to their homes, or destroy it, and release the entity within. This is an IC decision, one players are welcome to thread or handwave as they will. OOCly, the call will be made by a consensus—one vote per participating character, with responses tallied on the 17th. The conclusion will be posted on the 18th, and will be the final modpost in the game.
We realize this is a major decision, and one characters may feel unequipped to make. Some information has been unfortunately pre-empted by game closure—there's simply no way to fit all plot arcs and discoveries into the time we have remaining. Some things, however, can be learned through more detailed investigation of the resources at hand. We encourage questions and exploration in these regards, and a header has been provided below.
To cast your characters' votes, please comment here.
Acknowledgements The log that just went up was our last logpost. This is our last OOC post, and we want to offer some huge thanks. Firstly, to the previous mods involved in the game's founding: Dai and Ree, for their plot, inspiration, and creation of the setting that we've used. Second, to our helper mods: Sean, Cass, and everyone who worked with us before. Things wouldn't have stayed running nearly this long without having you around to lean on.
And last, of course, to all our players. We appreciate the messages we've received, on plurk and by PM, and are glad to see the oldbies choosing to return for the fourthwall. Games are made excellent by the players who participate, and every one of you has motivated us to keep things running over the course of the last year.
We do, in fact, love everybody in this bar. Go, fight, win.

That said, the avatars possess considerably more of Mother's power—including the ability to psychically affect others at a range. It could be possible for one of Mother's avatars to reassert control over the limb.

now that we know what it is CAN SHE RELEASE... IT...
no subject
What else would Shepard be attempting in order to release the disk's contents?
no subject
hypothetically
no subject
That said: Shepard would be aware that the water in the intermediaries' pool showed different properties than the Living Energy as she's seen it act through the Ingress and on Avagi. Given the visual similarity, it might be reasonable to assume a similar origin, but how far that extends isn't ICly clear.

Would Tamen know anything about the pool of energy used in the Intermediary's centre on Thisavrou, or have heard anything?
no subject
He knows the intermediaries as failed leaders, people who tried to bring peace, but ignored the warnings of the storms. His family on Avagi passed down an array of stories, and some do reference a place where the intermediaries could go to focus their powers. But concerning the nature of that place, or how it was made? He knows less than Shepard.
no subject
Other than outright breaking it physically, is there any other way she can scan it around the station for more details regarding its contents?
I'M JUST
CURIOUS!!!
Aaaall the questions
2) Are the more pertinent systems (security etc) accessible before encountering any part of the Mother or within the same area, say like after getting past her barrier?
3) How much of that area has changed since the time that the Mother had turned on everyone and set the thing to overload? I am wondering if anything still matches up with the old layout as Ghost would have from when the original team went along with the Mother.
Ummm okay I'll stop there for now unless something else comes up. Thanks! :)

To Ghost, the attempt won't persist for long; it finds itself back outside the Memorial within perhaps a minute's span. Cayde, however (along with the rest of the station) will experience a full day in Ghost's absence.
2) Most of the pertinent systems would be inside Mother's barrier—the Ingress' control mechanisms were housed at the center of the complex, and security was tightened primarily around that space. That said, Cayde may be able to turn up some smaller system access outside of that—door controls or cameras for a specific sector of the station.
3) No actual reconstruction has occurred in that space within the last few centuries—which is to say, the rough layout would, in fact, match up! That said, these parts of the station have been extensively damaged, both by Mother's initial destruction and her occupation of it since. Some rooms and halls may be blasted away entirely, others subsumed by rubble or ruptured wide under the pressure of moving flesh. Ghost's layout is a good guideline, but creative navigation will still be required.

Woo, awesome. Thanks! All right, time to dive into things.

Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: while he wasn't happy about being taken from his homeworld without his permission and is definitely missing home, kurt would ultimately decide that a sentient being doesn't deserve to be trapped.

cter Name:=)Choice: Destroy it.
Extra Notes: uh do whatever you want theyre super dead. also autonomy of other creatures is like, important or some junk.

Choice: Repair
Extra Notes: As far as he's concerned, they've spent enough time and pain trying to be the bigger person. It's time to go the fuck home, lads
Re: Final Vote: the Living Energy
Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: She doesn't believe in enslaving a sentient being for her own gain. As the spiritual descendant of one such being, there will be something personal behind this.

Choice: Destroy it
Character Name: Nill
Choice: Destroy it
Character Name: Rey
Choice: Repair it

Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: She's not 100% sure this is going to turn out well, but she couldn't live with herself if she let a sentient creature stay trapped. Especially for her own gain.

Choice: Destroy the Ingress
Extra Notes: It did do them a favor, even if it might have been self-serving, but Cayde's Ghost is glad it brought its Guardian back from whatever damage was sustained from the Storm despite his still bearing the marks from it. There may be a good chunk of information they're yet missing, but they both have drawn parallels between the Living Energy and the Traveler back home, and feel that releasing it is the right thing to do. ...of course, Cayde hopes it'll do them a good turn for it, but if that doesn't include going back home, he can deal.
no subject
Choice: Destroy the Ingress
Extra Notes: A decision like this isn't fair to be set on any one person's shoulders, but while there are many uncertainties regarding the circumstances, it remains clear enough to him that no sentient being should be harnessed in such a way. It reminds him of his studies of quintessence back home, although that energy showed no sentience until Voltron's creation. This energy has acted on its own, however, and it has protected them. Keeping it harnessed for their own use seems wrong.

Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: hoo boy what a fucking dilemma but when in doubt, go chaotic good and hope for the best
no subject
Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: If the Living Energy isn't malicious enough to justify imprisoning it, keeping a conscious entity trapped to serve others against its will is basically slavery. That's not okay. For Bel, the choice is difficult emotionally but not morally: everyone brought here might eventually find another way home someday, but setting the trapped entity free is the right thing to do.
no subject
Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: Something something, using living thinking beings for personal benefit is bad. It'll suck if people who actually want to go home can't, but he can't really justify continuing this.
no subject
Choice: both!
Extra Notes: They can repair the device, send people home that want to go home, then those choosing to stay and free the energy can destroy the Ingress.
no subject
Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: If the Living Energy hadn't brought him here, he'd still be chasing dead leads while his friend, family, and millions of other programs suffered in silence. Alan won't repay that by imprisoning it. Plus, maybe the Living Energy can still send them home when it's free and maybe it will also listen to reason about sending him and a few folks back together? :>

Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: Don't send him back don't send him back don't send him back don't send him back D:

Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: Let him rescue any Programs first before the axes fall, dammit. >:|
Re: Final Vote: the Living Energy
Choice: Destroy it
Extra Notes: He doesn't really believe he has anything to return home for. And trapping the entity reminds him too much of Alpha which is not something he wants to do.
no subject
Choice: Destroy it
Extra Notes: This thing gave him a second chance at life and the opportunity to see old friends, however they are now, and those he never thought he would get a chance to meet. Even without that, it's no fun being a prisoner. Let it be free.
