Final Event: OOC Post and player vote

Our final log—for Arc 3 and the game—has been posted in the comm. This space is for details, questions, and explanation of the choice characters face at the conclusion.

Mother

As noted in the log, Mother has multiple forms and faces that will need to be defeated in order to reach Avagi's core. In order to allow for later threading, players are free to assume eventual victory—but the methods and cost of overcoming Mother may vary strongly depending on the characters' approach. We encourage creative problem-solving in addition to more combative techniques, and welcome questions below in that regard.

The thread for battling her avatars will go active on April 7. This will be a final chance for NPC interaction, and may also offer some degree of metaplot info, depending on the characters' actions.

The Living Energy

The Living Energy behind the Ingress has played a crucial role in the game since its inception—and more than a few hints have been dropped along the way. Still, even the newest of characters will find plenty of evidence towards its significance. Tamen's story offers some history regarding its role in Thisavrou's beginnings, and an examination of the systems at Avagi's heart offers proof of how the Savrii meant it to be used. The Living Energy is both what powers the Ingress and what connects its travelers across a multitude of worlds. More, as their recent efforts prove, it can in some way balance or oppose the storms—if not stably enough, in its current form, to keep from shaking the station to pieces.

But as characters have glimpsed over their time in Avagi, the Living Energy isn't merely a fuel source. It has a voice (or voices), and strong investment in the individuals it's brought to this place—enough to bring them back, from travels or from death. The intent of the Living Energy might be unclear, but the power bound to this place does have a will of its own—enough, perhaps, to qualify as its own being. Which begs the question: what would it do if it were freed?

That question—and that choice—is now yours to determine. Once Mother's opposition is removed and the systems at Avagi's heart examined, the player characters will face a choice: rebuild the Ingress into a functional machine they know can take them to their homes, or destroy it, and release the entity within. This is an IC decision, one players are welcome to thread or handwave as they will. OOCly, the call will be made by a consensus—one vote per participating character, with responses tallied on the 17th. The conclusion will be posted on the 18th, and will be the final modpost in the game.

We realize this is a major decision, and one characters may feel unequipped to make. Some information has been unfortunately pre-empted by game closure—there's simply no way to fit all plot arcs and discoveries into the time we have remaining. Some things, however, can be learned through more detailed investigation of the resources at hand. We encourage questions and exploration in these regards, and a header has been provided below.

Acknowledgements

The log that just went up was our last logpost. This is our last OOC post, and we want to offer some huge thanks. Firstly, to the previous mods involved in the game's founding: Dai and Ree, for their plot, inspiration, and creation of the setting that we've used. Second, to our helper mods: Sean, Cass, and everyone who worked with us before. Things wouldn't have stayed running nearly this long without having you around to lean on.

And last, of course, to all our players. We appreciate the messages we've received, on plurk and by PM, and are glad to see the oldbies choosing to return for the fourthwall. Games are made excellent by the players who participate, and every one of you has motivated us to keep things running over the course of the last year.

We do, in fact, love everybody in this bar. Go, fight, win.

Character Name: Buffy Summers
Choice: Destroy
Extra Notes: She doesn't believe in enslaving a sentient being for her own gain. As the spiritual descendant of one such being, there will be something personal behind this.
