Survival is the exception "living is an act of courage."
THROUGH THE INGRESSThe Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a rocky planet. Former crew of the Moira are there to greet you, and it’s a grim message they have to share. The Moira has crashed and is beyond repair, but there’s good news... the destination the crew has been heading towards for over a year? You’re standing on it. But before you get into exploration and survival, it’s best to deal with the effects of coming through a broken Ingress. ☄ slip and tripfind your footing fastComing through the Ingress has left your character with one of three changes - an age slip, a form of body horror, or an extreme weakness. The first, the age slip, will mean that the character is either older or younger and this change can’t be rectified during their first month in game. The second, body horror, comes in the form of an alteration to the character's body due to whatever they were carrying at the time they came through. If they were wearing a watch, it’s now fused to their wrist, clothes are permanent, knifes replace fingers, and many other alterations (anything goes) and it lasts the first month as well. The third, extreme weakness, can be a mental or physical decrease - weaker arms, legs, or the weaker ability to talk or do math.
ooc: the choice of change is up to each player and this prompt can be game canon.
☄ introductions aren’t awkwardas long as you don’t shake their hand too longA new planet. Physical and mental changes. Talk of a ship that crashed and a Hub that is home to the ‘creators’ of a technology you’ve never heard of. A lot is happening and the best way to sort through it is by getting to know the Moira’s crew. They’ll help you settle in and get you any care you might need, all the while informing you that the group is on its way to the center of the hub. Something that might seem mundane is an absolute necessity for survival. Ask a seasoned space traveling veteran for answers and guidance.

☄ dealer's choicejust make the right oneCharacters have the option of coming through an Ingress that is any possible location on this planet. It can be inside a cave, at the top of a rock formation, etc. This means you can have your character have to climb or slide down, have them yelling for help, and have other characters see them and come to their aid. Your character's arrival is completely up to you, and since this is a unique situation that hasn't happened before, go nuts with it!

nupe
As he holds him there, dangling, Rafe does for a second consider letting him just drop. It would be so goddamn easy, but would it really be that fullfilling? Maybe. Let's toy with him some before we ponder murder any more first.
It really doesn't help that Sam can't help himself up with only one functioning arm so Rafe grabs him with his other hand by the shirt and pulls, leaning back and using his own body weight to tug the other man up. The ledge isn't big, but it's big enough for the two of them to get up on for the time being. Once he's got Sam up and no longer in peril, he lets him go and stares at him, a bit out of breath.
He's a whirl of emotions when it comes to Samuel Drake, but right now he needs to pretend he's shocked to see him at all.]
... how the hell are you alive?
[And why do you look so old.]
cries
The adrenaline still courses through him even as Rafe grabs his shirt and pulls him up to safety, and as soon as he's on that ledge, he shifts as far away from the edge of it as he can, rolling onto his back next to the other man as he catches his breath. He laughs, both out of relief and pure joy that he survived that ordeal, before he remembers who the person who just saved him actually is.
Sam sits up at the question, eyeing him cautiously.]
Why, were you hoping the bullet landed somewhere else?
tosses a box of tissues at
Rafe's brows pinch together in apparent confusion.]
What the hell are you talking about? I didn't shoot you, the damn guards did. You fell... you were dead, Samuel. Nate and I both saw it.
[Okay but, can he get an award for his acting right now. Is it believable enough? Judges?]
... you look terrible.
[Aka, old.]
DABS FURIOUSLY
Yeah well, they don't exactly have spas in prison.
[ARE YOU SHITTING ME RIGHT NOW, RAFE ADLER???]
And what the hell are you talking about? What the hell do you call this, asshole?
[He gestures to his arm...which he is still incapable of lifting. With the blood and the dirt covering him, it makes for a somewhat pathetic sight.]
Seriously, did you hit your head when you came here?
At first I was just THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR DABBING but then I realized dabbing with tissues
You're going to hit your damn head when I kick you off this ledge.
[He doesn't have to fake his frustration with Sam when he says that.]
Look, I don't know what the hell is going, you clearly don't either, can we figure this out once we're up there- [He points up where he'd come from.] - than down here?
[Rafe doesn't even wait for Sam to get up, standing without him and moving over to start his climb up, it's not far and he gets down onto his stomach, reaching down for the other man.]
C'mon, or I'm leaving you down there.
[So. Sooo tempting.]
THERE IS ALWAYS TIME FOR DABBING
Is what he'd say if he didn't actually need help right now. As it is, Sam merely stares at Rafe with a look reminiscent of the one he gave him when they were finally reunited--a somber, defiant look as he watches the other man get up and climb back up.
As much as he hates to admit it, Rafe does have a point. He has a lot of questions, so it would be a good idea to regroup somewhat. Figure out where he is and what the hell is going on. See if Nathan made it here as well. Reluctantly, Sam reaches up and makes a jump for Rafe's hand, using his feet to help push himself up.]
NO SAMUEL. THERE IS NOT.
And even though Rafe would love nothing more than to pull Samuel Drake up and then promptly kick him off the cliff ledge to his death... he doesn't. He does pull him up though, grunting and grumbling about Sam weighing a ton.
Once he does get him up and over the ledge he sits for a second, catching his breath. Man he is not used to being this tiny again. Was he really such a runt at this age? He's going to have to fix that if he's actually stuck like this. Pushing himself up onto his feet again he does offer Sam a hand up as well. Something he probably would have done before everything happened.]
... so. Care to explain how you're not dead?
