Rinzler actually reminds Tex of Omega—not of the strange hybrid personalities he developed when he was partnered with Caboose or Doc, but the dark personality he shared with her during the time of the Freelancer project. He influenced her a lot during that time, and things were difficult for her through that; eventually she turned on him and decided she needed to kill him, but she never would have stood for any measures that attempted to reprogram him. This is similar to how she views Rinzler's situation—she's going to massively oppose attempts to reprogram him, but she also wishes she had been contracted to kill him rather than for Peter to try an unreliable trap to injure him. The only reason she hasn't said as much to Alice in their conversation in the hold is that it's unknown to characters in the game how or why death does or does not become permanent.

Going forward, Tex is going to be watching what becomes of him because she has concerns that people view him as more disposable than they see humans because he is a program—which was, of course, reflected in her trial vote. It obviously bothers her a whole lot.
