Survival is the exception "living is an act of courage."
THROUGH THE INGRESSThe Ingress has pulled you in. Your body experiences several sensations at once: being pushed forward as if a hand is resting on your back, momentary and startling blindness, a gentle ringing in your head. You have difficulty discerning whether it is hot or cold, but where you have been prodded is noticeably warmer than the rest of you. Some may suffer from dizziness while others are perfectly fine. Once equilibrium has been reestablished, you will notice you are standing on a rocky planet. Former crew of the Moira are there to greet you, and it’s a grim message they have to share. The Moira has crashed and is beyond repair, but there’s good news... the destination the crew has been heading towards for over a year? You’re standing on it. But before you get into exploration and survival, it’s best to deal with the effects of coming through a broken Ingress. ☄ slip and tripfind your footing fastComing through the Ingress has left your character with one of three changes - an age slip, a form of body horror, or an extreme weakness. The first, the age slip, will mean that the character is either older or younger and this change can’t be rectified during their first month in game. The second, body horror, comes in the form of an alteration to the character's body due to whatever they were carrying at the time they came through. If they were wearing a watch, it’s now fused to their wrist, clothes are permanent, knifes replace fingers, and many other alterations (anything goes) and it lasts the first month as well. The third, extreme weakness, can be a mental or physical decrease - weaker arms, legs, or the weaker ability to talk or do math.
ooc: the choice of change is up to each player and this prompt can be game canon.
☄ introductions aren’t awkwardas long as you don’t shake their hand too longA new planet. Physical and mental changes. Talk of a ship that crashed and a Hub that is home to the ‘creators’ of a technology you’ve never heard of. A lot is happening and the best way to sort through it is by getting to know the Moira’s crew. They’ll help you settle in and get you any care you might need, all the while informing you that the group is on its way to the center of the hub. Something that might seem mundane is an absolute necessity for survival. Ask a seasoned space traveling veteran for answers and guidance.

☄ dealer's choicejust make the right oneCharacters have the option of coming through an Ingress that is any possible location on this planet. It can be inside a cave, at the top of a rock formation, etc. This means you can have your character have to climb or slide down, have them yelling for help, and have other characters see them and come to their aid. Your character's arrival is completely up to you, and since this is a unique situation that hasn't happened before, go nuts with it!

which, sort of annoying, because andyr's been in the process of trying to find one person in specific, which was already difficult enough with how large the crew is. now add on a handful more and it's just obnoxious. ]
Heeeere, Fluffy Fluffy Fluffy. [ andyr's calling out, as he pushes up on his toes to look over and around some of the new arrivals, frown on his features. Probably over with the vehicles being an autophile, like he does. what's more annoying is that his back is aching, the ports a constant, throbbing pain that's down to the bone. he's determined to carry on as if nothing's changed, but even that movement to peer around had brought on a flinch. no, he doesn't have the patience for this crowd, shouting out instead. ] Ronan!
[ andyr turns sharply, ready to head towards the other edge of camp, where the jeeps had been parked, when he nearly runs straight over some slightly blond kid. pretty, but seemingly distracted the the accessory now fused to his skin, andyr blinking down at it with something that's probably more nonchalant about this than he should be. ]
Oh. Gross. Was it like that before?
no subject
Huh? [He'd heard someone say Ronan but he thinks he imagined it when the person is apparently asking about the weird fusion that had happened.
Now, Adam sort of wished the Orphan Girl had kept his watch longer.]
No... [His brow furrows as he traces it and it makes him feel slightly nauseous.]
no subject
lifting his eyes, he glances back to the Ingress that all these people had just popped out of, then roams the others, gauging reactions. there's the typical confusion, yes, but something extra. more that look like this kid. some more horrific than others. oh. ]
It was the Ingress. [ he's announcing, distractedly, before looking back to the teenager's wrist. it takes few seconds for him to both realize adam probably doesn't know what he's talking about, and after that, decide he cares enough to fix that. ]
The machine that just brought you here. It's broken. I guess this's what happens when it starts trying to work again anyway.
no subject
This is something else and he knows he's on the verge of panicking despite how calm he was trying to look.]
Oh. [The explanation doesn't make anymore sense when it really comes down to it.]
Okay.
[Because what else can he say? He focuses on breathing instead, finally forcing his eyes back away from his wrist.]
Who are you? [This really doesn't seem like a dream. He doesn't think people in dreams are Ronan's specialty.
This is real. Somehow.]
no subject
whatever. he'll get used to it. more to the point of his skin grafted accessory - ]
Does it hurt?
[ if it doesn't, they can probably leave it until they have a clean enough facility to go at it surgically. if it does, welp. kid's about to have a bad time. ]
Andyr. You?
no subject
No. [That's weird. It seems like something like this should hurt but pain isn't where he would classify the sensation.]
Adam.
no subject
the wrist is forgotten for the next few seconds, as andyr's brow knits and he openly stares at the kid like there's something suspicious about him, possibly kind of creepy, because andyr's very bad at the whole tactful interaction thing. all he knows of details is that his name is adam, ronan loves him, and he's apparently brilliant, and even if the odds are insane, the Ingress does tend to bring people in as groups, familiar.
thinking it's the fastest, simplest way to make measure of it, andyr clearly enunciates two words, and waits for some kind of reaction to tell what happens next here: ]
'Ronan Lynch.' [ and if it completely goes over this guy's head and he just seems like a weirdo, well, nothing lost there. ]
no subject
Okay. That is probably a lie.
And it turns out to be because the next words out of Andyr's lips shock Adam.]
Ronan... he's here? [He couldn't help the way his voice turned hopeful. Maybe this was a dream? And maybe Ronan had gotten out in time or... well it was all still an illogical mess but if this person was talking of Ronan that meant he had to still be okay, right?]
no subject
ronan's going to crap himself.
time for another weird moment with uncle andyr - his hands come up, touching either side of adam's head, as a huge grin spreads across his face. ] Yes.
[ it's unclear if that's supposed to be an answer to adam's question, or just an exclamation of victory, but andyr whips around too quickly to clarify. ]
Follow. [ just that, and he starts off towards the jeeps, stopping after a few steps to look back, waving adam along impatiently. come on, world ruler, you have a boyfriend to save. ]
no subject
Okay. [Adam will follow anywhere if he thinks Ronan is going to be where ever it is they're going so he doesn't hesitate to do so even though he's feeling almost numb from the amount of shocks that have just occurred.
Maybe it was Ronan's dream still after all... but if that was so why couldn't he feel Cabeswater?]
no subject
hopefully, at least. ronan deserves someone willing to follow him to the ends of the earth. he deserves a chance at a life. hopefully, that's this boy. curious and eager for proof on how all this works, he turns, walking backwards as he leads, to face Adam. ]
How long has he been gone for you back home? Did you notice him gone at all?
no subject
Ronan is here.
That's all that matters to him and so reluctantly he answers the questions.]
He wasn't gone... I was scrying into one of his dreams and then... [A shrug.]
no subject
the point is, he was right, and ronan wasn't, so boo hoo. ]
That thing you came through, that's an Ingress. It's like a multiversal teleporter, but gone batshit. One of them pulled us here - Ronan's been around about a couple months. [ a quick rundown of the situation, the rest Ronan can explain. welcome committee isn't is thing. ]
He said you'd think he abandoned you, 'cause he's a dumbass.
no subject
Except not.]
Oh. Okay. [Adam shakes his head and with the hand isn't weirdly fused with his watch he runs his fingers through his hair.]
A couple months? What? [Jesus, time really was fucking weird.]
Is he okay?
no subject
Right, a couple months. S'Why he figured you'd think he left. [ they've only heard from people who left and came back that they returned to the same point in time, as if they never left, but that wasn't really enough proof for either ronan or andyr.
as for if he's okay, well. relatively speaking, right now - ]
Yeah. He's fine. [ turning back the way he's headed, they can likely see the hastily slapped together vehicles not far. ]
no subject
So weird. He's trying not to actually think about it too much or he'll really start to panic and that wouldn't be good.]
Okay. [If Ronan is fine then somehow everything's going to be okay for him too. He's barely paying attention to where they're going though. This Andyr guy could be leading him into a trap for all he knew.]
no subject
When they start to approach the BMW he can spot Ronan’s shaved head poking out of, just around the propped up hood, Andyr purposefully moves his body to cover Adam up, a hand waving him back there to wait, as he shouts out. ]
Hey, Egghead! You’re about to owe me a fuck ton of money.
[ money he definitely forgot to bet on the whole ‘i’ll never see the boy i love again’ crap they’d argued over, but whatever, technicalities. With a hand reaching for Adam’s shoulder, he guides the kid around in front of him, and gives him a gentle push towards Ronan. ]
Merry Christmas, jackass.
no subject
Go fuck yourself, And -
[And that's when Adam comes into view, and whatever Ronan was saying dies on his lips. He's hit with such a wave of dizziness that it feels as though he's just swallowed one of Kavinsky's pills. His brain tells his eyes there's an error in communication. He'd given up hope on seeing Adam again, so surely Adam cannot be here.
When he blinks, Adam is still there.]
Oh.
[Ronan takes a few uneasy steps closer, moving like he's sure his legs will give out at any moment - which wouldn't be a surprise, because that is actually a side effect of the pills Kavinsky's been giving him. But Ronan manages to keep his footing, and Adam will find him looking more or less like he did during their final night together, plus some stubble and about half an inch of growth in hair and a few fresh scars carved into his face. Clearly he had nightmares at some point.]
Did I dream you?
[He has to ask, though a dream thing couldn't possibly answer with any certainty. But how else can Adam be here?]
no subject
Was this Ronan his Ronan? His brows knit as he can't help but wonder at that but there's more pressing matters.
Like the fact the other is asking him if he dreamed him. WHich how would he even know if he had? All of this feels not real and too real at the same time.]
If you did, I'm going to get you for this. [He holds up his arm with the fused watch, staring at Ronan.]
This isn't one of your dreams, though, right? [It didn't feel like Ronan's dream. And again, he can't really feel Cabeswater or the ley lines anymore. Something was wrong.]
no subject
[Ronan immediately seizes Adam's hand, holding his wrist up close for inspection. That... absolutely looks like a dream gone wrong.]
Fix it.
[He's not talking to Adam. If this was a dream, then the world would bend to his will. Ronan's eyes remain focused on Adam's arm, waiting for a sign of change. When nothing happens, he meets Adam's gaze.]
Be real.
[That one, he's begging of Adam as well as the universe.]
no subject
Ronan... [He exhales because nothing changed and that had to be confirmation enough that this was reality or some form of reality.]
I'm real, Lynch. You've been here months? [The confusion is clear in his eyes. How has Ronan been here so long? What even is this place really...]
no subject
[ Andyr speaks up from several feet away, for the sake of Ronan needing an explanation, both for Adam being here, and the issue with the watch. It isn't hurting him, and a trip to medbay, once they have a chance to set it back up, ought to fix it.
But seeing that the two of them have apparently reached some even ground, where they can just be happy to see each other, Andyr figures it's time to leave them to whatever questions and personal matters they need to sort. He's just happy to see Ronan's had one of those impossible tragedies amended.
Stepping back, he's relatively quiet as he takes his leave. Ronan knows how to find him if he needs him. ]
no subject
In the meantime, he answers Adam:]
I don't know how long I've been here. God, Parrish... I thought...
[He doesn't need to finish the thought, does he? Obviously he thought he'd die without seeing Adam again. He turns Adam's hand over and brings it to his lips, kissing Adam's knuckles with surreptitious reverence before anyone else can see it.]
no subject
He stares as Ronan kisses his knuckles and he wants to lean in and press his lips to his. It's startling and somewhat unsettling to have Ronan take his hand because seeing him kiss his knuckles like that the painful memories start to flood back to the surface.
Gently Adam pulls his hand away, glancing around and he still wants to just lean in and press his lips to Ronan's.]
How is this...[Because he also doesn't want to think about what Ronan could mean.]
no subject
[God, where does he even begin to explain?
Fuck it. He'll explain later. He's too preoccupied with staring at Adam, drinking in the sight of him. Most of the details seem correct. Besides the fused elements, this is an accurately-constructed Adam. Enough to make Ronan's heart ache. He can't be out in the open like this, vulnerable like this.
Turning, Ronan beckons for Adam to follow him to the BMW. This, Adam will probably notice immediately, is a dream thing. The race tires have been replaced by tires more suitable to rough terrain, and something about the car overall seems bulked up in preparation for hard travel.
Ronan throws the door open and climbs into the backseat, expecting Adam to follow suit.]
